Hey everyone. I wish I had made this post sooner, but honestly I’ve just been in shock since Saturday night. On July 30th, a major flash flood swept through my hometown of historic Ellicott City taking with it sidewalks, cars, and the lives of two community residents (Jessica Watsula and Joseph Anthony Blevins). We are currently in a state of emergency. While many people are safe, the amount of damage to stores and housings are unbelievable. The video above is taken about half way down Main Street and you can see the 7 feet of water in places only prepared for a foot of flood water. We’ve had flash floods before, but nothing like this since Hurricane Agnes in 1972, and even this is being said to be worse than Agnes.

A friend of mine, Rachel, had been working at The Phoenix Emporium (a bar) that night and along with her coworkers they helped 28 people make it through, and I honestly believe the only reason is because their building has a second floor. Some store were completely taken out, and now are only an empty shell. Other shop owners, such as Jason Barnes (owner of All Time Toys), helped people who were too in shock and had stayed in their cars attempting to drive through the flood waters, out of their vehicles and into safety. 

Another friend of mine, Tim, owns one of the bars, Ellicott Mills Brewing Company, and has been interviewed several times about the longest hour of his life.

Friends of mine lost everything, their house is placed lower than street level and it completely flooded. Luckily, one couple was away at the time and my friend Jessica was at her parents. But her boyfriend was home. Her boyfriend got out safe (after diving in for their cat), but all of their things are destroyed and they lost their beloved chinchilla. They have one cell phone left between them.

One of my favorite places, the Bean Hollow (a coffee shop), told us recently that they were one of the few with flood insurance that could begin to cover all of this, and it will still only cover half of the damage. They’ve lost everything. They were prepared for a foot of water, not 7. (They say 5 in the post, but the building is raised 2 feet off the ground).

“We left grateful that we were able to get in. Many waited and were taken to their business only to be told their building was deemed unsafe. Some businesses that looked perfect from the front, with their merchandise hanging beautifully, had compromised foundations. They were turned away.“

The government officials won’t even let them get their adjusters into assess and get the insurance ball rolling. They are putting them on hold because of “safety reasons” yet they let every reporter across the state and half our government officials go up and down the road. 

We are in shock. I lived and worked on Main Street for three years and I’ve lived nearby since, but I can barely believe the devastation that has happened. We’re told FEMA is coming today but honestly there is just so much to do. Most places don’t think they will be able to open for a year.

If you are close by and want to volunteer for clean up (once we are allowed access) you can do so here.

If you can’t come in person, please consider donating to our town. Hundreds are struggling physically, emotionally, and financially. Our employees are out of work while we try to rebuild and are currently filing for unemployment while we trying to clean up and rebuild. if you cant donate, that’s okay. Please just share this post.

To add insult to injury, we are finding out now that an entire section of building is going to have to be demolished. This includes residential housing and businesses. Residents still don’t have access to their belongings (only allowed in for ten minutes to grab some things) while the rest of what is left their belongings is left to rot. While it is an understandable safety concern, it sucks.

 There’s recently been talk about Nu’est being mismanaged and getting unfair treatment from Pledis/ Their Japanese company among their kfans to the point where a petition was made. Hardly anyone is talking about what’s going on right now. Honestly this is really upsetting to me because the situation is important and shouldn’t be ignored. The main objective for this is to get feedback from Pledis and better treatment for Nu’est

I’m gonna and see wait what all becomes of this because it’s upsetting that these things are happening with no answers or clarification (There’s apparently more stuff that has been going on behind the scenes as well). I want everyone to have an idea of what’s going on with nu’est and to please show them a lot of love and support because It feels like no one (outside of the nu’est fans who do know) is paying much attention to this. I truly hope something good/positive can come from this all but right now everything is upsetting.

I truly believe that all who are in the kpop fandom, watch this video. As a fan of NU’EST for 4 years, I have seen and continue to see the misunderstanding of us- of NU’EST as a whole. They have been mistreated in the virtual world and barely get any recognition in the real world. This video- yes, it is long, but it covers what we’ve faced for 4 years, the tears we’ve let out and seen them shed. I’m not saying this because I’m a NU’EST fan through and through, I’m saying this as someone who has stood by and watched five boys grow: Watch this video to see into the years we’ve been kicked back while all others are pushed forward. You don’t need to like them after this video, as long as you have an understanding and respect these five artists who have held their fans and family in their hearts. NU’EST Ren Shows Fashion Has No Gender in Latest Photoshoot

Just earlier today Ren’s 1st batch of photos for VIP.com’s summer collection has been revealed, and has been spreading through SNS like wildfire. The NU’EST member is seen decked in a series of female’s wear, showing a youthful and refreshing image nonetheless.

In his Instagram updates, Ren stated that he wore the skirts in anticipation of Summer’s arrival, before going on to state that ‘fashion makes a person and its impression’. A behind-the-scenes video has since been released and could be found here.

It seems like this new ‘Summer Skirt Fashion’ CF from VIP.com aims to spread the message of respecting women and gender equality, and has been using skirts as a fashion point in its promotional campaign, regardless of gender.
