Why do they call it oven when you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food?

that my good friend is an interesting question.. Perhaps the coils within the technologically advanced hotbox helps raise the temperature of the sustenance within it's metallic container to help conceal the heat around it so it doesn't lose it's structural integrity or it would turn into a mushy sludge, or perhaps too much heat will escape it and would cause the boiling sustenance to cool down quicker, resulting in a less than desirable dish.
