If you're a settler or your ancestors were settlers on land that doesn't belong to you or your people, you need to acknowledge the spirits of the land you're on.

For thousands of years indigenous people lived on their land, practicing their traditions, speaking their native tongue.

It is only right to acknowledge the spirits of the land you're on, and let them know you come in peace, before you invoke spirits of a different land.

Simple Ways to Celebrate

Sunlight offerings — Step outside for a moment and let the sun warm your hands. Offer a thought of thanks.

Herbal blessings — Work with whatever you have: rosemary, mint, chamomile, lavender. Hold them, breathe with them, let them bless your space.

Water magic — Charge a bowl of water in the sun. Use it to cleanse your tools, your altar, or your energy.

Fire in small (or big) ways — A candle counts. A match counts. A spark is still a spark.
