while patrick dempsey is an attractive man, derek shepherd just isn't dreamy. the first time i watched i was blinded by the story and thought it was cute (just like denny and izzie, i cringe) but the second time, man - it was giving call hr and file a sexual harassment claim.
from the very start, he comes off as very arrogant and unprofessional. even if they had slept together, the minute he found out she was his intern he should've never kept pursuing her, especially not the way he did. he was very sexual with his student and subordinate, he put meredith in very uncomfortable situations without any care about what it could do to her career.
then we have the whole lying about being married thing. i just want to know HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PERSISTENTLY PURSUE SOMEONE AFTER THEY CONTINUE TO TELL YOU NO (BECAUSE YOUR THEIR BOSS AND THEIR BOSS' BOSS) AND WHEN THEY FINALLY AGREE TO GO OUT WITH YOU, YOU DONT EVEN TELL THEM THE BASIC DETAILS ABOUT YOU..... AND WHEN YOU FINALLY DO, YOU LEAVE OUT THE FACT THAT YOU'RE MARRIED BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T EARNED IT YET (DEREK'S WORD'S)
or the fact that derek constantly reassured her that it was over with addison but then threw the 11 birthdays and 11 Christmas' in her face and chose addison -_-
meredith is suicidal and he wants to break up with her because of his race for chief.
the whole rose situation confirmed that it wasn't love for derek, he just wanted to start over with anyone. no way he goes on this whole tangent about how he wants to start a life with meredith because he loves her so much but because of her obvious abandonment issues (that he contributed to) he states that he might find someone who wants the same thing he wants... HUH?
he kisses rose and the next day wants to work on things with meredith and tells rose "i like kissing you but i have to see this through." because that's just so romantic. everybody hates rose but im glad she called him out on his shit.
I ABSOLUTELY HAATE HOW WHEN MEREDITH IS GOING THROUGH SOMETHING HE HAS TO BE SMUG AND FLRITY. meredith is upset and derek will just smile, kiss her then leave.

i actually like derek and meredith. the first few times i watched i didn’t like meredith and i HATED derek lol but after a while, i started to only pay attention to the plot and storylines and i don't think meredith is that bad. she sure isn't my favorite, but i don't think she's a terrible character.
i personally prefer meredith's personal storylines with her family and about surgery over the merder plot. after season 3 the back and forth became very played out - especially with better storylines from different and new characters.
once they get married meredith sort of fades into the background as far as storylines. they had plenty of opportunities to give meredith a compelling plot, but they all fell flat.
meredith goes to therapy and we see a glimpse of her traumatic childhood but before we can learn more she's healed.
meredith gets pregnant (which she came to terms with rather quickly in my opinion) and has a miscarriage and we see them trying again rather quickly.
derek forces a baby on her and says they should adopt, and we see meredith is uncomfortable and struggles with the idea of being a mother - but don't worry she gets over it by the end of the episode.
meredith gets into a plane crash and while everyone else is either dead, severely injured, or traumatized she's just there. she has that one episode about the patient that reminds her of lexie and she mentions the fact that she has to sleep with the light on and that's it.
meredith goes through such a traumatic event that changes her and her kids' lives forever and instead of us seeing how she adjusts to the change - they do a fing time jump -_-
and so many more.
(i honestly feel like they probably thought ellen couldn't handle the really emotional scenes, so they always fast-tracked the storylines... no shade tho )
derek only recently became a favorite because i've rewritten him so he's nothing like actual derek plus patrick dempsey is fiione. (so maybe i do still hate him)
cristina, april, amelia, arizona, hell even, izzie is far more interesting than meredith grey.

writing fanfiction is just. i’m being so creative and original. i’m plagiarizing everyone by accident. i’m a genius. i’m cringe. i’m too angsty. i’m too cheesy. this is not in character. it doesn’t matter that it’s not in character because these are my characters now. i love my hobby. this is the worst possible use of my time. i’m seeking validation. i’m projecting my own personal problems onto this story and i’m barely hiding it. i know so many words and i’m using all of them wrong. im on tumblr posting about it instead of writing it.
