Some quick pictures of the three Bettas I bought yesterday, two elephant ears and a butterfly I believe. That white ones name is Kaworu and I've been wanting him for weeks but was put off by the price, but yesterday I saw that he was still in that cup and showing signs of fin rot and i had to take him, and I figured why not. Got a new tank and supplies, doing an instant cycle with the established filter. Gonna make the tanks look pretty today!
I honestly have been enjoying fishblr less and less lately because the majority of it is people constantly nitpicking the fuck out of every little thing someone is doing. I understand when someone is doing something thatāll seriously endanger their fish but when itās stupid little things like the color of the sand/gravel or you just simply donāt like the lighting that their using, do you really need to type out a 6 paragraph essay? Tumblr is more for showing people your tanks and taking pride in it, people looking for advice generally stick to fish forums. Correcting a big problem is one thing, but nitpicking every detail of a tank just because itās not the way you like it is another. Iāve seen certain users claim that they rarely correct others and then you go to their blog and 70% Is them nitpicking stupid things like the fishes name or that they donāt have driftwood for their betta.
Iāveā¦literally never seen any of what youāre saying. Maybe go outside for a bit? I hope you feel better
Hi, apart from the fact that telling someone to go outside is really shitty ( specifically to people who are neurodivergent such as myself as well as people who are not able bodied enough to go outside) and that "I hope you feel better" is a poorly masked method of making me feel like there's something wrong with me for expressing this opinion on my own blog, we have obviously had very different experiences on tumblr.

I saw the post this is directed towards and honestly all of the advice was legitimate, not rude, and made to make sure you know, none of the fish or plants die slowly from what are little things at first that can ultimately hurt your stocking in the long run. overly colorful gravel can be harmful to your fish, it gives NO benefits to your plants, and bad lighting will affect your plants in the long run too, you canāt have any old light be good for a planted aquarium. itās not a matter of ālikingā itās a matter of long term health for the things you made an oath to take care of.
none of what was given in that reblog was stupid advice (iāll concede that 6 platies is not necessary for an aquarium, but even thatās not stupid and more personal choice really), ālittle thingsā can cause big problems in aquariums in the long run, especially a 5 gallon aquarium that is way overstocked with fish that NEED more fish to begin with.
Honestly if you have a problem with a personās advice you can politely reblog their advice and make a civil argument against it instead of putting passive aggressive posts in the fishblr tag where people try to relax, look at nice aquariums, and ask for advice for the best possible health for their aquatic pets and plants. donāt like conflict? complain without tagging. i do that all the time.
and literally no one ever has complained about people naming their fish (unless it is highly offensive, which i have seen), nor do people complain if you have driftwood or not for your betta.
I have no idea what you're talking about as this wasn't directed towards a specific person or a specific post, just observations I have made in the several months that I've had a blog and been active in the fishblr community. People have actually commented and been rude to me because I've named some of my fish after anime characters just simply because they do not like the character. I also specified that when its about something that can harm the fish I understand but thanks for ignoring that šš»

In happier news, my tank is starting to fill out. I got a yoyo loach yesterday (they only had him sadly and not any more or I would've bought three, I'm gonna have to order two more when I get two more rope fish) a school of six neon tetras (they're so pretty why did I wait so long to get any) and like I mentioned before, I got four new male guppies to bring in some prettier colors since my endlers livebearers are breeding like crazy. I also got three dwarf African frogs!
Okay guys, I have a big of a dilemma. Obviously I donāt know much about guppies, but I do keep them and enjoy them. I bought a few more males yesterday with nice coloring to introduce some prettier genes so that all the babies wonāt be the same dull natural ones. One of them is acting weird, and upon further inspection, it seems like his mouth had been torn off? I originally thought he was just keeping it open but it looks literally like another fish bit it off. Heās just swimming close to the bottom of the tank sadly. Is there anything I can do for him?
Update: he's flopping around at the bottom, i isolated him but he's dying. I guess I'll be calling the pet store and seeing what they say about returning him since I got him like this, he's the only one of his coloring I got and I do want to introduce that color variety into my guppies gene pool to get more color variety in my fry.

did I ever show u guys my mystery snail. he does not had a name but I snove (snail love) him.
I just found out when petcos dollar per gallon sale is. I'm going to go wild tbh. I'm gonna buy like three 5 gallons and start a shrimp tank. And maybe another 10 and probably a 40. Idk a whole paycheck is prob gonna go towards the doller per gallon sale tbh, I wanna actually have ranks around when I need them and I can afford it so hell yeah why not??
Can anyone give me advice? Iām wondering if it can stress a betta out to not be able to build a bubble nest? I replaced Mononokeās filter with the one I was using on the 20 since his conked out (just in time tbh, I upgraded the 20 to a 65 with a marine land filter so I had a free one just as his died) it doesnāt make a lot of current and heās not acting stressed but he normally always has a bubble nest going, like always. They get huge and he loves making them and since I put him back in his 10 gallon with the newer filter he hasnāt been making any, probably because the filter would mess it up. Should i be concerned or will he be alright?
I feel like he should be fine. He probably gets annoyed but not stressed.
I put some rocks around where the filter brings water back into the tank to make the flow slower, maybe he'll start building one again. Thank you!
