I will be posting my headcanons both on here and tiktok, so if you see the same headcanon here before seeing it on tiktok, this is why.

When Derlord saw the clone of Avery back in the mountains biome, he felt a small sense of false hope. Because just seeing Avery made him feel relieved, even though he knew for a fact that that wasn't his Avery.

I feel like Avery's trance reflected the hopelessness that he has felt during the entire journey on finding Derlord, when he is told that he is "safe there", it was only meant to give him false security that he should not think outside the box, that he'll be fine if he doesn't allow himself to think too much. And the repeated drowning, I feel like that symbolizes his feelings of despair and uselessness pulling him to the bottom of the small pond each time, only rising up to the surface because he had a schedule to follow. (Planting the flowers, weeding the grass, refilling the well.)

When I imagine the last scene of Derlord saying, "Until next time, my friend." Derlord whispered it outloud aswell, a silent tear slipping from his eye as the painful merge between him and the King begun.

Sometimes, at night, Avery ponders what could've gone differently or what he could've done to prevent what happened to his friend-that-never-was. He thinks that maybe had he sacrificed himself, only he would have to suffer and not Derlord. (Because he didn't know he was a vessel, and what would happen if him and the King fused.)

When Avery was stuck in his trance, he was obviously under the control of the King at that moment, right? The book that he read portraying the actual play of the King In Yellow. But, that specifc moment, when he was drowning himself, that he was the King either preparing him for death (from the merging) or getting him used to pain in general. (This could also sound like "mercy" on the King's part)

After Avery was pushed off into the void and reset by Derlord, the "You Died!" screen popped up and while Avery just stared at it with a horrified expression, fireworks (since it was New Years) started going off outside of his house, kind of symbolizing when you finally beat Minecraft and jump into the portal (or void).

That after Derlord had written the letter, he forgot to close out of Minecraft. So, Avery, after being respawned, could simply go back to the King's palace and see Derlord there. But, since we all know what really happened to the person behind the screen, Derlord's character remains still and unmoving. Like an remnant memory.

Avery and Derlord, had they found a way where they would both live, would've lived together on a nice hill and a small pond in front, along with owning two cats and a small farm in their backyard.

Derlord is a nomad that travels from place to place searching for things that'll fuel his curosity, causing him to stumble upon the mineshaft of absolute doom.

I think that Avery isn't really fluent in English. Not saying that he can't speak it, but his comprehension of it is lesser than what you'd expect of someone of his age. (I HC that hes 19-22) He struggles with pronouncing and spelling difficult and/or advanced words, and learning them is a headache for him. (Since his lightblub upstairs is a bit dim)

In skywars PVP, or combat in other words, I think that Avery is so locked in and focused that it gets hard to remember that he's even in the match. I think the reason why Avery climbed up the leaderboard so quickly is because of how quiet he gets when he's immensely focused, and how fast he moves in matches. So fast you don't even know he's coming at you. Since he's really skilled with a bow-&-arrow, he's silently kills players throughout the match, and that is only when his presence is acknowledged and recognized in a skywars match.

Averys' body definitely makes a little sponge like noise when he startled or scared by something or someone. (Because of the fact that he's a slime.) And because of this, (and the fact that Derlord finds it cute) he definitely gives him a spook every once-in-a-while, just so that he would make that noise again.
