Washoe was a common chimpanzee and the first ever non-human to learn how to communicate with sign language. She was raised as close to a human child as possible. One of her care workers, Kat, suffered a miscarriage and took a few weeks off work. When she returned, Washoe seemed upset that she had left her for a prolonged period of time. Kat signed that she was sorry and signed âmy baby died,â to which Washoe responded by signing the word âcryâ before running her finger down Katâs cheek, mimicking a tear. She then asked Kat for a hug. Washoe, who had lost her own babies, appeared to be sympathetic and understanding toward Katâs own pain and loss.
In 2010 researchers discovered this new species of snailfish almost 4.5 miles beneath the sea. Itâs semi-transparent and has tiny black dots for eyes.

There are many ways to calm a negative energy without suppressing or fighting it. You recognize it, you smile to it, and you invite something nicer to come up and replace it; you read some inspiring words, you listen to a piece of beautiful music, you go somewhere in nature, or you do some walking meditation.

Owls are well known for being silent predators and one of the most important reasons for that silence is the hooks and bows on the leading edge of their wings. This edge breaks up the air flow around the wing into smaller streams that make mush less noise. The trailing edge of the wing also has a softer fringe that helps to muffle the little noise thatâs left. (Source)

Reminder:
We have to drop the word âmeatâ from our vocabulary. It is an insidious word. We have been conditioned to allow this word to bypass all our values, all our empathy, all the moral code that allow us to think of ourselves as âgood peopleâ. This nasty, evil little word lets us look at certain creatures and immediately slot them into the category âfoodâ. We have all been brainwashed. We need to get rid of the conditioning that is stopping us from living true to the values we hold. We have to allow ourselves to look at all non human animals and see them for the individuals, the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters and friends that they are. Facebook. We have to start thinking for ourselves. Once we do, then being vegan is the only thing that makes sense. http://www.vegankit.com/

The rat seems to have lost its mind. Itâs most likely infected with Toxoplasma gondii. Itâs a parasite that uses a remarkable trick to spread from rodents to cats: It alters the brains of infected rats and mice so that they become attracted toârather than repelled byâthe scent of their predators. A new study reveals that rodents infected with the parasitic protozoa are drawn to the smell of cat urine, apparently having lost their otherwise natural aversion to the scent.
Iâve always heard about this, but never ever saw it
Thatâs fucking creepy, holy shit
