What I have learned is that one a day drawing challenges are a bit much for me. I like being able to come back a day or so later with fresh eyes. So I’ll still probably follow some of the prompts, but I’m not going to hit every day of #emojitober2020 and that’s okay. I’d rather make something I’m fully proud of. #inktoberalternative prompt day7:🐰🌌🎶

🌊Lugia was always my favorite Pokémon, from the moment I saw the movie. I drew myself swimming with Lugia a lot. Like constantly the same picture. So in a way, this was a gift to my younger self to finally create what I was picturing. You can see one of the many attempts from my younger self........ extra story: I got a copy of Pokémon Crystal before knowing what shiny Pokémon were and only realized retroactively that I had a shiny Lugia my first play through. So one more reason Lugia has remained my favorite.

So, I’m not as active here, if you want more content follow me on Instagram. It’s the same handle.

Realizing that wasn’t a branch a little too late.

So, instead of doing a huge project alongside my friend doing NaNoWriMo, i wanted to focus on enjoying art again. Ever since college, I’ve had trouble making anything that made me happy too. I’ve been putting too much pressure on myself to create things that other people will love. It’s hard to reteach myself better thought patterns and better habits, but I’m happy to say I think it’s working.

I was lucky enough to be chosen for an art show at a local public house for their October show. The theme was anything having to do with Tarot. I chose to work on something that shows a “style” of reading there the cards are considered mirrors to one’s subconsciousness.

My goal for this year is to get more comfortable with my coloring, so as usual I take the digital challenge version. New Years

Last update from 2018! I’m currently working on getting the rough animation from November uploaded so I can share it.

In the mean time, I have some resolutions to share.

Draw more. I feel like I say that every year, but it still holds true. I’m not going to try and hold myself to any rigid time schedule like this last year, because that lasted all of a month before I fell out of it. I’m going to just try and remind myself more and more that I’m still an artist and that I didn’t lose “my chance” after college. I know that seems weird, but my mind has kind of betrayed me with thoughts like that.

Study study study. Study perspective. Study animals. Study plants. Study classic and modern artists. Study poses, expressions, clothes - I need to widen my visual library to gain the confidence I need to draw more of the ideas in my head. 

Sketch ideas out before I lose them! This is something I’ve been kicking myself for since... probably forever. I have a new pocket sized sketchbook that I plan to fill; between #2 and trying to get ideas down, it shouldn’t be a problem.

That’s my main plan for art resolutions. There’s a lot of little things along the way that will pop up I’m sure. 

Overall, I’m finally enjoying art consistently. It’s been coming back in fits and spurts since college ended, but doing an animation as a nanwrimo rebel just... I don’t know how or what it was, but it fixed something in me. Ever since then, I’ve been so much happier, with even my silly sketches and doodles.

Day 2: Flowers - specifically geraniums, which are very important lately. I’m still teaching myself how to work in paint tool sai and just generally playing around.The blending is a huge change for me. And flowers are not something I usually do so...
