Is there any interesting info about Sesshoumaru or Rin in the inuyasha profile book? (I mean as individual characters, not as a ship since it's quite old)

Honestly....IDK I don't really think so? Maybe Sesshoumaru's description is interesting, he is described as being "handsome yet fragile". I guess he's not suppose to look that strong but we all know better!
Rumiko also mentions that his armor is made with demon energy so he can regenerate it when its damaged. She also mentioned Sesshoumaru's dog form is only 4/5 in terms of effectiveness because he doesn't use it that often.
Its not very shippy, but actually, there is something in the book that ties Sesshoumaru and Rin together!
In addition to describing every main characters attacks, they also describe them according to the four souls or energies that make up the Shikon jewel. These souls are: Ara for courage, Saki for love, Nigi for friendship, and Kushi for wisdom.
Sesshoumaru's soul is made up mostly of Ara (courage) which makes him very arrogant. For Nigi (friendship) it mentions Sesshoumaru's growing tolerance to Inuyasha, Rin of course, and surprisingly Kohaku:
Also, Rin is the focus of Sesshoumaru's Saki aura/energy (and bonus SesshJaken lol).
Waaay before Sesshoumaru went to the underworld for Meidou Zangetsuha, the profiles book already hypothesizes that he has inherited his father's care for humans:
As you would expect, the Saki section for the main characters all relate to their official love interests. Miroku's is a little different because he loves women in general, but there is still a section for Sango. And Shippou's Saki is being matchmaker to Inu/Kag and Mir/San. I think his is the only exception where his love for his friends constitute for Saki.
In my opinion the "love" Sesshoumaru feels for Rin isn't realized yet, so its vague and a very new emotion for him.

A big part of issues arising with the way antis misinterpret Inuyasha/Yashahime/Sessrin is the fact that they seem to rely on their personal interpretations of things and characters rather than canon which they often outright ignore or do not know at best.
Antis - 99% westerners, Americans especially - 100% believe that Sesshomaru is in his 20s to 30s, that Sango is 18, that Hisui is 16 and that older!Rin is 13-14 despite opposing canon (official magazines for IY, and timeline according to mentioned time periods such as Reiwa and og series all state that Sesshomaru is 19 in human years aka if we compared him to a human person, Sango was 17 at oldest when she got pregnant with twins, and events of Yashahime take place in 2019 at earliest so Hisui is 19 at very least) because they think they look different age (in their minds)... in a media (in)famous for (almost) never depicting characters accurate to their age
They also 100% believe that Sesshomaru and Rin had father/daughter relationship despite the fact that it was never described or stated as such by any character, any person working on anime or Rumiko herself and the nature of their bond was always left ambitious even when addressed by characters themselves (Jaken)
Hence why when you try to point out the hypocrisy, double standards and outright misinformation they close their ears and go "lalalalalalalala I can't hear what I don't want to admit". It's double standards - and worst of all - just spreading lies and misinformation for personal agenda
This problem is giant not just in Inuyasha fandom but a lot of western fandoms in general: people clinging to their personal headcanons so much they get shocked when they're proven false despite never being promised they were accurate to the canon and when that happens they lash out at other fans who predicted things accurately or creator her/himself for daring not to know wtf that headcanon was and not making it canon
It gets even worse in the age of slacktivism and pseudo-progressivism where ppl try to use social movements and issues to gain "points" in an online "war" so they can feel superior and use it as a shield against... Well, canon and common sense. And Tumblr is infamous for its overly sjw users doing nothing but screaming at ppl and going aggro like a new age Inquisition
That's my thoughts on why arguing with antis is pointless. They don't want facts and they won't hear facts. To them the only right opinions is theirs and the only right interpretation is their, too

I like how every time I’ve pointed out that fans over here (Japan) are generally in support of SessRin, I get told I’m racist blah blah blah by antis.
But like? Have you read people’s reactions? Have you been following the Japanese fandom?
Like yeah a few people don’t like it, but they are in the minority by far. Today from the past couple hours since the episode that I’ve been browsing twitter, I’ll see maybe 1 negative reaction to sessrin for every like 50+ positive.
Even the ones who acknowledge the young age pretty much just go “well, that was the time/era” and leave it at that. Which was exactly my husbands reaction too when I said western fans are upset. Like. Literally he was like “まー戦国時代だなー。14歳から大人だから” (well, it’s the warring state period. From 14 your an adult).
I *get* the argument that this is a modern show and should follow modern ideas, 100%, but I guess Japanese people are just better able to separate history VS now? I dunno. Either way. If you don’t like it that’s cool. I understand and I personally still hope they establish her age as 16+.
But stop saying I’m a liar/racist/etc. for simply observing reactions here vs the west and mentioning it here on tumblr. In my opinion, sunrise is simply giving fans HERE what they want. And sorry, they are gonna care more about domestic fans than overseas fans. This episode has multiple trending topics on twitter today. It was a massive success building up to it (even tho it wasn’t really a huge surprise to many).
(PS Not gonna translate these cus that’s a waste of my time atm and I’ve already wasted too much of my evening scrolling through twitter and tumblr but if you don’t believe me go on twitter and see for yourself.)
Sessrin are officially married
and they have two beautiful daughters.
I’ve shipped this so hard since I first watched Inuyasha in the 2000s. Now I’m an adult watching my childhood ship become canon. It’s a nice feeling.

Reminder
that when Sesshomaru’s mother asked Jaken to explain Rin’s relationship with Sesshomaru, he couldn’t put a proper label on it. He simply said that Rin is treated better than him, despite being in Sesshomaru’s company for a much shorter time.
He did not say Rin is Sesshomaru’s adopted daughter. He did not say Rin is “like a sister” to him. If Rumiko Takahashi wanted to put a familial label on Sesshomaru and Rin, she had the perfect opportunity to do so, once and for all.
They’re not family, let alone parent and child. A real father wouldn’t leave his daughter to be raised by someone else for her whole childhood.
What Sesshomaru and Rin shared during Inuyasha was simply a platonic caring. Sesshomaru wants Rin to be happy and Rin wants Sesshomaru to be happy. That’s all.
Instead of complaining about a father-daughter relationship turning romantic, maybe antis should realize that Sesshomaru being Rin’s father was always just one interpretation of their relationship. An interpretation that Rumiko Takahashi and the creators of Yashahime don’t share.
“Daddy” Sesshomaru is a headcanon and always has been. Let’s not be surprised when our headcanons are contradicted by canon.

Here are my thoughts and feelings on all of this drama. I’ve shipped it for 15 years so this is validating af. Antis are having their meltdowns and it’s coming in all forms. So they can be mad. I say get it aaaaall out. Catharsis is what they need. It’s the next step to getting over it and moving on. And to an extent, I get it. It was pretty ridiculous to let this “who’s the mama” nonsense drag on, especially because the majority of us BEEN known that answer for the better part of a year since the show was announced. With that already out of the way we could have been discussing something else…ANYTHING ELSE!! But making it a “mystery” left the ones in denial to their own devices to concoct the most desperate and ridiculous theories to avoid the path of least resistance. Quite sad and it could have been avoided. I feel the worst for Kagura, wondering where this energy was in the OG series for her because it sure as heck wasn’t it back then! I should know, I looked for fics/fanart and couldn’t find jack at the time! I digress, but I will say there’s nothing to argue about if we’re going to keep being labeled something we’re not. So I’ll just counter-rant instead. Some call SessRin and those of us who like it disgusting. Well anyone enjoying this show at all can be called disgusting for being interested in a show about humans and demons procreating together (ewww bestiality much?). But that’s just it. It’s a SHOW. It’s FICTION, FANTASY! Different times, different culture, different norms, different SPECIES in the context of THIS story. And the two people in question basically live on different timelines and that would be the case no matter how old Rin (or any human) is.
Assassin’s Creed is one of my favorite games. Does that mean I think it’s cool to go around killing people? No. GTA is fun to play. Does that mean I think it’s cool to go around shooting people or running over pedestrians? No. Call of Duty is fun to play. Does that mean I want to be on a battlefield? No. So are people who enjoy those games equally awful?
Would I support SessRin in real life? Well, there IS no SessRin in real life as we do not live among immortal dog demons. Do I support an 8 year old and 19 year old together? No. Do I support a 17 year old and 19 year old together? At that point it’s none of my business because they are at the age of consent now. But it is not problematic for me as long as it is a good relationship. How about a 71 year old and a 19 year old (because that’d still basically be Sesshoumaru’s age when she’s 71). Big ick, but legally nothing I can do about it. And again, if it’s a good relationship…*welp*
When Rin decides she wants to be with him, she’s of age and that’s HER choice. FANS don’t get to decide that for the character. The OG series ENDED with him leaving her with Kaede to raise and be among humans with the idea that she could either stay with humans or rejoin him to live her life. When she grew up and decided to go with him, wtf did people really expect to happen? Like, I REALLY want an answer to this and so far I have not received one. But for me, that was HUGE flag regarding their possible future…which would be her climbing that beautiful demon like a tree. Hence why this isn’t surprising, and it’s welcome as it gave her time to figure out her feelings and go after what she wanted. Would a human husband have been better even if he treated her like garbage? Why should she even want humans, they let her down left and right.
People aren’t always going to see things the same way. I see it as a relationship based on trust, loyalty, love, devotion. He has shown that NOTHING is more important than her. He would give up EVERYTHING for her. There is no one else for him and no one else for her. And I feel like Sesshoumaru was going to be whatever Rin wanted him to be for her. If she didn’t want him that way, he would have just been content with her being safe and happy living her life however she wanted. We’ve explained our piece and why it makes sense and why it’s happening. Clearly we were RIGHT because it IS happening. Qualifiers used against the ship don’t actually apply. You can lead a horse to water I guess. It’s painted as something it is NOT simply due to the need to eternally infantilize Rin. Well she ain’t an infant anymore, in fact she had her own. Hell, TWO of her own.

Antis can only argue with straw men. Sesshomaru and Rin did not have a romantic relationship when she was a child. They had a bond of mutual trust, respect and companionship.
He was never her father figure, that’s a headcanon that was foisted on him by fans. Sesshomaru was a 19 year old angsty demon teenager with severe emotional issues. He was barely capable of friendship, let alone parenthood.
Rin grew up in the loving care of Kaede and the human village where she lived with Inugang and others. When she came together with Sesshomaru as a young woman, it was of her own volition. She chose him enthusiastically and with her whole heart. And why shouldn’t she?
I’m glad these two lost souls came together and that their platonic bond eventually transformed into romantic love. Sessrin truly won.
