sam needing help with math homework and dean being of so little help, sam literally learns the concept because he has a eureka moment while explaining to dean what he doesn't get.
Suspects have an incest kink. Suspects get off on being reminded they are brothers. Those suspects are Sam and Dean Winchester.
in 3x01 dean is singled out and attacked by the demonic embodiment of lust, and tamara is attacked by wrath. considering that the demons themselves assessed tamara's personal vice to be wrath, this also draws a connection between dean's assailant and his threesome at the beginning of this episode—aka, the episode is suggesting that dean's vice is lust. but what these two assignments do is set sam up for something more interesting.
sam is attacked by three of the demons: pride, gluttony, and greed. if dean and tamara are attacked by the manifestations of their own vices, then the episode is implying that sam is as well. with pride as the clear leader of the trio, it reasons that pride is sam's greatest vice. this, i believe, can speak to his characterization across seasons 1 and 2. with gluttony and greed standing silent in the background though, there's perhaps an element of foreshadowing.
pride himself gives sam his title "boy king." that draws a clear line between these vices and sam's fate, and therefore the foreshadowing can be realized in his demon blood addiction, which is frequently throughout season 4 referred to as a hunger for power. so gluttony and greed loom in the background of sam's life, promising that he will succumb to those vices inevitably for as long as he continues down the path of fate.
and then ruby, the very embodiment of that fate, appears out of nowhere to save sam from them, seemingly killing all three of the demons. and then she proceeds to throughout seasons 3 and 4 nurture those vices, sweetly coaxing them out and encouraging him down that path. she "saved" him by leading him down the very path he thought he was avoiding. and this is parallel to all the other ways ruby manipulates him: she draws him closer to fate while pretending to push him away—see for example the way she embodies dean, the opposite of fate, and uses that mimicry to pull him toward lucifer. therefore 3x01 serves as foreshadowing for sam's narrative arc throughout the next two seasons as he falls prey to his own dormant vices and ruby covertly nurtures them until they consume him whole.
Elder Wincesties, please save us (make/teach us how to make manips) from the horrors™ (ai wincest invasion) 🙏🏼😭

I am so tired of all this discourse about s8 and Sam's actions at the beginning. Because there are only two types of people. The first ones hate Sam, blame him for everything and, to be honest, I can completely understand them (I am a Samgirl myself). The second ones justify him and all his actions and for them he is white and fluffy, he did everything right.
For me, all this is nonsense and an example of how people don't know how to think wider. And it's not about some deep analysis of the character (although, of course, this is welcome), not about trying to understand whether he did right or wrong. But the fact that in general the entire beginning of the s8 is complete nonsense. And it's not about the characters, but about the script.
Yes, I think that the blame here should be shifted to the writers.
You need to understand that in a show like Supernatural there is a HUGE number of writers. Each episode is written by a separate person. And each of these writers feels, sees and understands (or doesn't understand) the character differently. And if during the series it's not so noticeable, because small things can be different. And the fact that after the fifth season we are shown very little about the characters themselves, and not about the global plot, only helps to blur this difference. Then the end of the s7 and the beginning of the s8 stand out from the general picture too much.
The writers were in a hurry. The writers needed to somehow develop the line they went along and create a conflict. And the situation was such that... there was nothing to create a conflict from. Because, looking at the development of Sam as a character all this time, the viewer understands that he, just like Dean, would do everything possible to find his brother. Those who refer to their agreement "not to look for each other" probably forgot the beginning of the fourth season, where we were clearly shown that Sam absolutely goes crazy when Dean is in danger or dead. And it would be one thing if we were shown that Sam really changed his point of view. But no, there was no development in that direction. The only thing we were shown was that Sam wants to be more independent. And this is a normal, correct desire (especially in their relationships). But NOTHING told us that he can just… forget about it. Just do nothing. Just not look for Dean. Like can you imagine that this lore freak wouldn't look for any information about what happened to Dean? They tried to make a parallel with the beginning of season six, but they didn't understand that the situation is FUNDAMENTALLY different.
Because later, in season nine, Sam changes AGAIN. He is ready to do anything for Dean again, he goes crazy again when he dies, he is ready to destroy everything in his path and sacrifice everything in order to get his brother back to him.
Then what was the beginning of season eight for? Why were we shown this? Why did Sam suddenly become a bastard then? Because of a woman? No, because the writers needed a conflict between the brothers. And they decided to do it at Sam's expense, because guess what? In this show, everything is always at his expense.
For me, their meeting in the first episode is just another proof. They haven't seen each other for a year, Sam doesn't know what happened to Dean, Dean doesn't know what's going on in the world after the Leviathans were left without a leader. But how do they greet each other? Dryly, unsentimentally, as if they haven't seen each other for only a week. Their meetings were brighter even after they haven't seen each other for a couple of hours on another case. Honestly, I think even Jensen and Jared didn't like playing this, so tasteless it was.
I don't deny that Sam could have lived a normal life this year. But only after he broke down from ignorance, after he made every effort to find out something, after he realized that he couldn't help in any way. And only then, after he can accept it, he would have hit that damn dog.
And all this is not the character's fault. It is the fault of the writers, who have given up on all the logic of Sam's development and have not found another way to implement their ideas. In addition, the further we go, the clearer it becomes that they are doing this not only with him. Only Dean remains more or less stable, the other characters change almost beyond recognition with each new season (just look at Cas' entire storyline).
I think it's just dumb to put the blame on the character here. Because if you love Sam and follow his development, you'll understand that this whole situation is completely out of his character. Not to mention Kevin, who Sam would NEVER leave alone after all they went through.
So, yeah. The writers of beginning of s8 sucks. That's all.
yall sleep on how weird sam actually is like yeah sure he plays the normal guy role so well sometimes but are we forgetting that this guy literally jumped into the cage with lucifer and sacrificed himself for the world he literally doesnt even like? are fe forgetting that when he thooght his brother was dead he spent 6 months plotting on how to murder the man who did it, and may i say turned into his father whom he hated for doing the same thing when their mother died? are we forgetting he was doing some weird ass trials because he is impure and needs to clean himself out? or when he was ablut to kill his brother's purgatory friend because dean called him a 'brother' and then do the same to himself because thats HIS brother and he doesnt share?
The difference between season one and two makes me feel INSANE
😭😭😭 I know sam was MAD
okay now - sam goes to college and starts dating guys and at first he is not picky at all but as time goes by his friends start making fun of him for liking shorter than him dirty blonde wide eyed but kind of rough looking muscular guys like the bad boys. and sam finds that funny, sure okay, maybe he has a type, whatever. and he always dates them for a week or two then breaks up because they're 'too nice' or 'not nice enough' or 'they just dont have that something, yknow?' and then one day hes out with his guys in a bar and one of his friends starts pulling at sams sleeve, pointing across the room to this one guy sayingnhow he is exactly sams type and how he should totally go and introduce himself, and sam rolls his eyes and laughs but when he turns around its dean standing with a beer in hand waving with that stupid grin of his
I'm so sorry, I gave my friend my phone for a few minutes so she could look something up, I didn't expect for her to do this. Your writing is actually really well written, although I will ask; why are you shipping Sam and Dean when they're brother's? And, once again, I'm SO sorry for my friend, she has very strong emotions about certain things and I guess this was one of them.
(Your pfp is wonderful btw!! And also, no hate towards you at all! I'll talk to her about this when I get the chance)
hi! it's okay i understand and while i appreciate it you don't have to apologize! it wasn't your fault and you couldn't have predicted what your friend was gonna do. i dont expect you to be psychic! i'm also sorry for reacting so quickly and i plan on taking down the post since it wouldn't be fair to you to keep it up. i'm sorry if you felt like you were being put on blast!
i don't think i can provide a satisfying answer to your question since if you are really disgusted (not saying you are) by like the idea of two brothers being shipped no explanation will be good enough. i understand that incest is wrong in the real world and that disgust is the normal response to it in fiction. however, to ME, the dynamic between Sam and Dean is SO interesting and the canon information of them being codependent, seeing each other in a special category, being canonical soulmates etc. provides me with enough material to think of them as a plausible ship. the show itself flirts with the idea of them having a "strange" dynamic for siblings quite a lot as well which doesn't help it beat the incest allegations (dean agreeing that sam is the bonnie to his clyde, people who both know and don't know them comparing them/thinking they are a couple, dean's siren being a version of sam etc.)
you don't have to agree with me! it's completely understandable to think what i'm saying is insane and pretty icky. but if you think that way then i implore (both you and your friend) to block the wincest tag and my blog! if you dislike the ship that's totally cool and you have the complete right to bitch and moan about it on your blog, just block the tag and the big wincest blogs and you'll never have to see it again!
thank you a lot for your kind words and i love your pfp as well!
What mental talents do you have, why the fuck do you make these incredible, utterly amazing works of fiction.

THANK YOU
what is it with the bottom!dean hateration on my dash💔💔💔 are we truly believing the propaganda that dean winchester wouldnt let his brother fuck him??? does no one see the vision of angsty prestanford sam fucking his big brother as revenge on their father??? or dean teaching his sammy how to please him just right??? maybe s3 sam gently taking dean apart because he knows he'll never get to do it again??? DOES S4 HATE SEX FIGHTING FOR DOMINANCE MEAN NOTHING TO YOU???
even if dean wasn't particularly enthusiastic (which... he is) about sam sticking it into him all sammy would have to do to be the top is pull out those puppy dog eyes and BOOM! dean is bent. OVER.
sam and dean but sam is eddie and dean is venom. that's all i have to say
How it feels watching this show sometimes
So I just watched "Sex and Violence" (Supernatural) and, man, I'm never questioning Wincest again.
Like, the siren was supposed to become whatever Dean wanted most and the guy literally turned into a "better" version of Sam/a little brother.
The way Sam looked at Dean when he was about to kill him and the way Dean always had a second/little moment of hesitation whenever he was about to hurt Sam and the siren had to convince/talk him into/actually tell him to do it (unlike the others who pretty much did everything on their own after the siren gave them the offer).
Like, damn, I don't care what you say these are not normal siblings. Normal siblings wouldn't think of the other as their greatest desire/the thing they want most, they just won't. Normal siblings (speaking from experience) would look at the other and, at most, will either wish to get along with them or for them to stop stealing their food, no in between. No, they're not normal siblings, hell they're barely even normal-weird/just weird siblings at this point, they're straight up obsessed with each other.
