ED movies with ratings by me<3
I’ve tried not to have spoilers but for the trigger rating there may be couple of plot reveals, but I’ve kept it to a minimum.
To the bone- This is a classic. I really like it because it portrays straight anorexia, I love Ellen’s sarcastic humour and the show uses actors that have struggled with Eating Disorders, so that make it quite realistic.
Trigger rating- 9, shows her very malnourished
Cringe- 8, come on, that doctor was so cringe
Sharing the secret- I really like this movie. Unlike To The Bone which shows straight anorexia, this shows straight bulimia. I feel like her mums reaction/response is very realistic because not all parents are like ‘Omg you have an eating disorder, pls eat for me, let me send you to a 5 star inpatient’ Beth is addicted not so much to the control, but the euphoric feeling she gets after she purges.
Trigger rating- 6, shows her vomiting and teaching her friends to purge
Cringe- 1, I really liked this movie and I thought it was good that they showed her binging instead of just eating one bite and throwing it up.
The Best Little Girl In the Whole World- They show Casey as the overlooked sibling, in a household with lots of fights. Her anorexia has quite a big control factor and I think they did a pretty good job on her character.
Trigger rating- 6, She goes to the hospital and gets a port/picc line which she rips out and her friend overdoses
Cringe- 5, She’s white, straight, skinny to start of with, reasonably wealthy and that’s how all anorexics in movies are portrayed
A secret between friends- I loved this movie its one of the best ones I’ve watched. They have a bulimic and an anorexic so it has a combo. I also like that they show her want to recover before relapsing. it shows how far she’ll go to avoid eating.
Trigger rating- 9/10 She’s held down by doctors when they force a feeding tube down her nose, her best friend ends up having complications from her ed and it shows her very underweight and sickly.
Cringe- 1, I think this was a really great movie
