sometimes, grace really hated the strict conventions and constrictions most nephilim lived by because it meant sooner or later someone was going to get hurt, someone was going to break a rule and lose respect they deserved more than anything and possibly never even have the chance to get it back. and right now that anger was increased tenfold when she spotted alec standing there while a tall woman with a hard nose and dark eyes berated him in front of everyone in the main room of the institute while his mother just stood there, hands clasped behind her back and eyes averted from the scene not making a move to protect her son from the woman who was verbally attacking him. 

...and the worst part of it all ? 

alec was just standing there; expression closed off, head held high as he just let this woman berate him for something he deserved to be praised for. grace’s hands balled into fists and she took a deep breath before marching over to the three and stepped in between alec and the woman...to be honest grace knew she  didn’t look quite imposing coming up to just under alec’s shoulders and relying on her heels to keep her eye level with the woman whose glare had now settled on her. 

“ sorry for interrupting but, it just seemed like things were getting pretty intense, ma’am. ” her tone is perfectly polite and sweet, smile the same...at least until she started speaking again and her tone become saccharine and cutting like the sharp edges of sugar glass as she took a step closer to the woman, “ and with everything everyone has been through lately, especially alec here, you can see why i was worried when i saw what was happening over here besides, i think it’s time for you to be leaving now anyways and like i said with everything that’s going on don’t feel the need to make another visit anytime soon. it was just lovely to see you, so long. ” 

grace nodded once more before taking alec’s hand in hers, making a path straight to the library where she had them sitting on one of the loveseats in the back, “ are you okay ? that looked pretty bad and i know you don’t know me that well alec so, you don’t have to talk to me if you don’t want but, i’d just really like to know if you’re okay...if not, i will totally go kick that awful woman’s ass all the way to idris  or...or we could just sit here for a while too, if you want. either way, you’re stuck with me for a while, lightwood. ”

      “ he was —a what? “ alec had to make sure he heard the other correctly, knowing what he heard was impossible. for one, demon pox wasn’t real and his ancestor couldn’t have been turned into such a monster. even in the shadow world, those type of situations couldn’t happen, especially to his family.

“ a..umm...well, to put it simply he was a giant demon worm. i mean obviously he wasn’t you know the giant worm demon his whole life but, he did turn into one because of umm...demon pox. ” 

grace only remembers the story because wyatt told it to her and her friends once to spook them and at first she hadn’t believed him but, then she had asked her mom about it. she had sputtered, blushed brighter than she had ever seen her do and then carefully told her the story that she knew of what had happened to benedict lightwood. grace still couldn’t believe that first demon pox had been and might still be real, that it had actually turned benedict into a monster worm and lastly, that the same man was an ancestor of alec of all people.

got caught up being dorks with friends guys ! honestly that is the best kind of fun though, am i right ? where you just make a complete and total dork of yourself, like laughing so hard and being so stupid that you feel an eight year old and you always remember those moments where you laughed so hard your ribs ached and you couldn’t breathe and you were crying cause it was so damn funny. i just love my friends basically family so much and i love you guys too. anyways, leaving soon be on in ten !!
