She adores S.teven U.niverse. She really loves all the gems, Steve, Greg and Connie, but her favourite is Garnet or Connie. She’s really inspired by Connie’s determination and bravery, while being awed at Garnet’s self-confidence.

Marti is one of those kids that just always has scrapes on her knees. Most of the time, she’ll just come home and announce she got them while running or playing or rolling. Others, she’ll forget and get asked about, which her response is typically ‘I dunno’.

She’s also very proud of these, even going as far as to show them off to guests.

Curious eyes dart to the inventor then back to his creation. Her thoughts are simple enough - i how does a giant marshmallow take care of the owies? Usually Casey or one of her parents do it. Marti doesn’t know if she’ll let the robot do it as well.

A note about my portrayal of Marti for the foreseeable future: she’s gay.

Okay, so when I first started this blog I had a Marti in the back of my mind who just screamed ‘I like girls’. I regrettably pushed it away because I thought ‘well, I’ve not even started this blog and I haven’t seen all of the LWD episodes; she could turn out completely different!’ I made up my mind to see how things went and then I would decide.

After talking with Queenie and Hattie, I found out I wasn’t far away from some ideas fan fic writers had done in the past. They could also see little Marti liking girls and it just strengthened that little voice in the back of my mind.

Now, I’ve not done a lot on here, I know. But I have one thread where Marti is questioning her sexuality and it just feels right. It feels right to me that she likes girls. I’m not sure if it’s exclusively girls, but until further notice, this Martina ‘Marti’ Venturi is gay. 

I guess we’ll find out more as this muse continues to grow.

                             reaction  elicited  from  derek  the  moment  the  younger  girl  enters  into  his  domain  is  instantaneous ; position  is  shifted  sideward  to  better  facilitate  the  extra  body  now  perched  on  the  edge  of  his  bed,  arm  instinctively  extending  outward  to  CURVE  around  small  shoulders.  ——  contemplation  that  he  REALLY  should  implement  a  lock  on  his  bedroom  door  if  intruders  trespassing  upon  his  domain  without  first  waiting  his  permission  (  first  casey,  now  marti  )  is  going  to  evolve  into  a  regular  occurrence  occurs  to  him ; then  again,  he  cannot  hold  it personally  against  his  youngest  sibling.  granted,  derek  may  make  a  conscious  effort  to  regularly  remind  his  family  that  he  expects  them  to  always  adhere  to  a  strict  ‘knock  before entering’  rule,  though  he  supposes  it’s  only  inevitable  that  marti  would  be  an  EXCEPTION  to  aforementioned  rule. 

                              ——  crown  cants  towards  the  girl  in  response  to  the  largely   unanticipated  query  posed  forth.  expression  painted  upon  his  countenance  is  somewhat  difficult  to  decipher ; crease  dimples  the  flesh  between  his  brows,  free  hand  RISING  to  rub  at  the  nape  of  his  neck.  lilt  of  words  that  follow  is  light,  tonality  of  each  syllable  teetering  precariously  on  the  border  of  teasing.         “ well,  smarti - it’s  pretty  simple  really.  chicks  are  HOT.  ——  I  know,  that  may  be  kinda  hard  for  you  to  believe,  living  with  casey  and  all — but  trust  me,  they  don’t  all  look  like  that.  ——  most  of  them ? totally  smokin’. ”

Despite the long-term confusion implanted in her mind, Derek’s response makes her smile. Not just smile - that open mouthed grin that showed ALL her teeth, the one that she presents whenever she goes to the dentist and to her family when they make an interesting joke against one another. A small giggle, more than a breath but not quite a whisper, passes her mouth before she instantly goes back to talking.

“That’s gross, Smerek!” Cries from the girl go up in the air, though she knows to keep her voice down or else someone Casey might overhear and interrupt. 

And then she lets herself fall into her brother’s arms, blissfully unaware of the tension that she carries in her shoulders. She’s a child; she doesn’t understand why her shoulders are so high or why it’s soothing to clench her fists, but she releases it all when she feels s a f e. Nothing can get her when she’s with Derek. Nothing.

“But what about boys?” She insists, channelling what she’s learnt from the eldest McDonald to put  a firmness in her voice that refuses to be ignored. Sadly, it’s not very much, and she just sounds like stubborn old Marti.
