Here is my new li’l zine! Where it says “This is a picture of the universe,” I am placing (taping, not “sticking”) in a vinyl sticker I made of that design for the zine buyer to have and sticker wherever they like. Printing 100 of them to have as a cheap item for our upcoming conventions, for those people that are not ready to give you $8 for a book, but will buy your $2 zine if you’re just nice to them. Suckers.
Virginia M Kline started out a chemist, took a break to raise four kids, came back to school to get her PhD in botany at 50, and then became the University of Wisconsin Arboretum Ecologist and Research Head. Pretty freakin’ cool lady
We’re partnering with Minnesota Public Radio to report on integrated healthcare! Here’s a teaser GIF featuring art and copy by Emi Gennis and colors by Kat Leyh. See more comics soon at www.HealthyStates.org.

Look! I made this. It’s a problem I had never even really thought about before I started work on the piece and now I think about it a lot.

ICYMI, I did a story earlier this month on what happens when polar bears and grizzly bears bone down on each other. Click through to read the whole thing.
Right now I’m working on a comic about a bizarre mystery manuscript from the 15th century that stumped the head cryptographer of the NSA for three decades. My job is crazy, but I really, really love it.
What do you get when you cross a polar bear and a grizzly bear? Go read “The Pizzly Bear Will Inherit the Earth,” a new piece I did for The Nib, and find out.
This is what happens when you melt a chunk of ice the size of a continent, people.
…Also, it’s really fun to say “pizzly.”
Feeling lonely?

Howdy - I did a comic for KQED about why wildfires in the American West are getting worse. Here’s a link to the original.

Venomous vs poisonous! If this one’s too small, you can read it on my site here. The animals are: northern copperhead, cane toad, tiger keelback snake, hooded pitohui, northern short-tailed shrew.
