Smaug was awake and was well aware of the scampering sounds in his mountain. He rumbled and rose spotting the largest rodent he had seen in a long time.

“And what are you doing in my mountain rat? Looking to become a snack? You’d barely sate my hunger admittedly but I don’t like being woken from good dreams.” his booming voice projecting around the large cave. Claws and teeth mere inches from little meerkat that dared come into his home.

{🔥}—; Spyro leaned back on his haunches looking up into the large orange eyes of the much larger dragon, no reason to think he should be cautious given the other dragon’s current behavior towards him. 

Though it was no wonder no one would come here for a long time especially someone other than a dragon, because there was a reason most knew not to mess with dragons no matter their size. “Well actually I’ve done a lotta travelin’, it didn’t take long for me an’ my pal Sparx t’get here but it is still waaay farther than ya think.”

Reason for that was cause he used a portal which was like a shortcut, but he’d crossed realms, another world entirely so it was about as far as it could get. “Nice to meet’cha Smaug, my names Spyro, and I gotta say you’re probably the biggest dragon I’ve ever seen.”

This did not surprise the elder dragon and he smiled, readjusting himself and laying so the younger didn’t have to look up so far. “I imagine so because I’ve never seen anything like the two of you anywhere around here.” he chuckled some.

“It is nice to see other dragons, even ones so young.” he stated and relaxed, tail curling around and resting to the Spyro’s side. “I bet you get to see many more than I do with as much as you travel.” his eyes lite up a moment. He remembered traveling as a young dragon, that had been much more exciting... that was long before knights and such started hunting his kind. Thinking on it he knew his own family was probably long gone by now.

Head shaking he offered the youth and his friend another smile. “I’ll take that as a compliment Spyro.” he nodded and watched. Honestly he had never seen a dragon of such color, then again who knew what was out there nowadays.

{🔥}—; The young dragon was only exploring the large open space, feeling the clanging of the gold below his feet as he walked on it, he felt like he and Sparx weren’t alone however as he looked around. 

Though Spyro wasn’t as interested in gold as he was gems, since those were worth something where he was from and even he as a dragon wasn’t as interested in it as Moneybags was who was obsessed with mooching off of others. 

But as the young dragon made his way under the mountain he had a feeling, that he and Sparx were not alone. His suspicions didn’t take long to get confirmed because there came a time where he saw something under the gold. Spyro curiously approached, it turned out to be a dragon who peered at him from under the gold before rising up.

No question in Spyro’s mind, this was probably the biggest dragon he’d ever seen once his head was above the mound of gold. But at the same time he was still very sure of himself and confident even in a much larger dragon’s presence. “Well I was just explorin’, sorry ‘bout wakin’ ya up big guy.”

Smaug was no stranger to being around other dragons, but it was not common for them to wander around here. The smaller and clearly younger but brave dragon was not unwelcome. He didn’t seem interested in the hoard at all. Perhaps he was merely lost.

“It’s fine young one, I’ve been sleeping for a long time. You are the first to enter my cave in a long time. Exploring you say? You must be a great traveler then.” he said and shook himself free of the hoard before settling and giving the young dragon his full attention.

“Where do you hail from? How far have you traveled?” he paused and bowed his head some. “Smaug is my name by the way.”

The large dragon groaned and moved just so seeing the other. Normally he was not keen on being disturbed, much less having his new home invaded and by another dragon. However taking note this may well be a young dragon he watched them for a moment before rising from his treasure hoard.

“What are you doing here young one, surely you are brave but why are you here?”

RE: That dragon post, is one of the reasons I was pissed about The Hobbit. I was SO EXCITED FOR SMAUG

AND THEN THEY MADE HIM A WYVERN

LIKE  WHAT DID YOU NOT SEE TOLKIEN’S OWN ILLUSTRATIONS?

i’m not even a fan it’s just that I felt it was a personal attack - i a person who grew up loving and adoring dragons, having to see one of the most popular dragons in literature be made? into? a? wyvern??? for no reason????

and also having to be voiced by that fucker I’m too exhausted to come up with a witty way of saying his name someone do it for me

In the original trailer that is lost to the fucking winds he was a normal western dragon.

HOWEVER

they decided to hook Cumberbatch up to a motion suit and due to the way he moved in the suit it was impossible to make him a normal dragon. So by all means blame Cumberbatch for fucking up the dragon entirely.

The effects were still cool though.
