[ Oh no, Sonic was certain his alternate was leading people to safety. Why? Eh, the guy was was more compassionate than Sonic himself in his mind, he was a little more concerned with wiping out the issue than getting people to safety. If it was him out there, then yeah, Shadow was right, he'd be out there at the Black Arms feet right now, homing attacking each and everyone of them in a futile attempt to destroy them. But his alternate was more likely to evacuate anyone who could get in harms way before doing something dumb. Especially if it was a huge threat like the Black Arms.
'All right. Lead the way then.'
And thankfully Shadow complied to the blue hedgehog. Good, 'cause the sooner they met up with Shadow's alternate, the sooner they could deal with this threat and eliminate those creatures before they devoured the whole city once more. ]
"Hope you can keep up with me."
[ Sonic turned, winking at Shadow, offering him that friendly challenge. Well, Sonic certainly wasn't going to be walking to GUN H.Q. with aliens marching into the city. And so he hopped up onto the railing, glancing down, about a three story building drop... Nothing Sonic the hedgehog couldn't handle though. He'd fallen from space before after all.
He jumped without any hesitation, curling into a ball a split second before he hit the ground and rolling along the ground until he felt a loss in his momentum. He uncurled at that, his feet hitting the ground with loud pads from the soles of his shoes before he sped off into the distance, heading towards where he knew GUN's headquarters to be. ]
'Friendly'. Hah. That wasn't the word Shadow would use to describe that body language -- nor the word he wanted to use.
The instant Sonic winked at him, Shadow felt a skip within his heart; it was rare that Sonic displayed any sort of teasing attitude lately, oftentimes quiet instead thanks to remembrance of times passed, so to see it again made Shadow get thrown back to those times, perhaps ironically, as he felt an old stirring within him. He flew back to times of old when he would paint and point to it with the intention of impressing Sonic, of making the blue hedgehog think he was 'cool', while innocently breaking the law through his own vandalism. Back then, Sonic didn't even point it out; despite being the 'good guy', he marveled more at the beauty of what he created rather than relished the thought of putting him behind bars. Back then, Sonic cared little about the angry owner of the house. Back then, Sonic put him on a high pedestal that made him special... And the cheekiness of Sonic's current attitude brought him way back to those beginnings, making his stomach feel like it was melting.
Normally Shadow wasn't one to lament over time lost, but through his reminiscing, he wished more than anything that he could still be considered that important to Sonic, that there wasn't someone else who stole his heart arguably more, considering Sonic initially didn't even want to go back here. Shadow's belly churned and he felt sick, all because of a fucking wink.
But Shadow wasn't a neon light and the times he'd placed his heart on display, it ended in argument. Despite not caring, he knew Sonic cared about the fact that there was more important things to focus on. No matter how often the blue hedgehog hurt him, he just trailed after more. Could it be considered masochism? Maybe. It's a masochism that Shadow held for Sonic. Sonic could destroy him and Shadow wouldn't care anymore, so long as Sonic was there. To him, he was fit to be betrayed, anyway, and it wasn't within his right to question it.
He narrowed his eyes, set his jaw.
"I would think the other way around is less likely."
Then, he set off in the direction of GUN's headquarters, his muzzle scrunching up at the smell. He hated the smell of those laboratories, but what could he do about it? Sit and whine? The faster they found this stupid alternate of his, the sooner they could rescue Sonic's alternate, probably the only other thing he cared about currently within this world.
