Myles let out a sigh as he set the box on the sidewalk underneath the bench. He knew newspapers weren’t selling like they used to, cuts had to be made. And of course, it made sense to get rid of the guy that only came into the office twice a week if that. But still, the whole thing had taken him by surprise. “We love your work Myles, you know that. But… it’s a dying media. We’re only keeping on a handful of people, sorry.” Almost as easily as he had gotten the job it was taken away. He could see the silver lining, he wasn’t happy there, he was always looking to write stories that mattered to him, it’d give him a chance to branch out. But still… this was how he provided for his family. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a sigh and a chuckle, “Fuck,” he said shaking his head. What was he going to do? How would he be able to explain this to… well anyone. Aubrey wouldn’t really notice, he was only at work every so often and he did most of his writing at night as to not interrupt any of their time. He knew he should be making his way home, or doing something more productive than sitting on this bench. However it was the only thing he had motivation for at the moment.
