Crutchie nodded with a smile, “That’s fine, miss. I’s just gonna ask around some more then but thank you for stoppin’, you’s got no idea how many people just keep walkin’ past.”

“Oh, sure!” Scott smiled at the other, working the desk for a change rather than in the back. “I think I have some leaflets back here about organisations you can contact, and they’ll be able to place you with one.” He began to rummage through the drawer in front of him, muttering to himself about how he knew they had to be here somewhere. “Is it, uh… for your leg?”

Crutchie smiled as the other started rummaging around and nodded. “Yes, sir, mainly. It’s also because I’s been gettin’ dizzy and faintin’ more often recently. It’s been suggested to me that a service dog might be important, especially when I’m walkin’ around on my own and... yeah.”

Tim blinked widely, startled out of Pokemon Go. “– Um. A service dog? Uh. Oh, right, uh, yeah, like, that’s a thing. Typically speaking it depends on like….the specific…….service kind….of dog….?”

Crutchie tilted his head at the other, with a smile. “Uh, it’s mainly for this,” he pointed down to his leg and the crutch he was leaning on. “But also because I’s sometimes feel shakey and pass out. Someone at the shelter that I’s been helpin’ out at has said that I should’a been lookin’ into gettin’ one ages ago.”

“A service dog?” Harry questioned, turning towards the stranger behind him. His gaze glanced down at the crutch for just a second before giving a friendly smile. “I believe you sign up for one..I’d maybe talk to a doctor or something..or a shelter. I’m not sure, I’m sorry.” 

Crutchie hummed in reply, “It’s the shelter that’s suggested it to me but I’s forgotten to ask if they’d be able to help me with it, y’know? But I’s just gonna ask them the next time I help out there.” He smiled at the other. “Thank you for helping, mister. But maybe, if they can’t help me,” he added, “Do you happens to know if any doctors that could help?”

“Uhm, excuse me?” Crutchie asked, leaning heavily on his crutch - it was one of his ‘not so good’ days. “I’s been wonderin’ if you could possibly help me? I’s been told that I should be lookin’ into gettin’ a… I thinks it’s called a service dog? Do you know how I’d get one?”

tooru shrugs almost absently. he isn’t too used to people actually considering him good, especially when it’s not his skill at volleyball they’re talking about. “i’ve been here since early december, i think. it’s been a while, at least. and how long have you been a resident of this wonderful little town?”

“I’s been here about five months,” Crutchie replied. “I’s noticed many people only have moved here recently.” He shrugged. “Where’s you from originally?”

Rey beamed, crossing her legs. “You’re welcome!” She nodded, happy to have come across someone nice. “I do! His dog’s name is Shadow, she’s a lot smaller than patches though.”

Crutchie kept playing with the dog, tossing the ball whenever it was returned to him. “Oh? What does Shadow look like?”

“It’s fine, mister. And yes, the other peeps’ been makin’ fun of him, y’know? But he’s just been okay with it. Knew he couldn’t really change it.”

“i, um… i just realised that today’s my birthday. i guess i’m seventeen now…” enid said the words slowly, swallowing hard. she had no idea how to react to any of this.

“Happy Birthday!” Crutchie said, smiling brightly at the girl. “Do you has any excitin’ plans for today?”

eliza had finally been able to manage to earn some money and it really felt good. it gave her some sort of confidence she didn’t have back in the days were most woman stayed home with the children, taking care of them. she wore a small uniform, - it was really just a blue shirt and a white apron, - she loved the colors and baking was always a hobby of hers. when eliza heard the ‘ding’ of the door bell that was installed above, she smiled. “ good morning. – what can i get you. ” elizabeth walked towards the counter.

Crutchie smiled at the woman, walking over to her, some coins in his hand that was not used to balance himself on his crutch. “Good mornin’, miss. What can I gets with this?” He asked as he offered her the coins in his hand that together amounted to about one dollar.

Rey nodded, moving to sit down beside him. “It is, my papa has a dog as well and she’s just as wonderful.” She pulled a ball out of her bag, offering it to Crutchie. “You can throw his ball for him if you’d like.”

Crutchie grinned excitedly at her as he took the ball. “Thanks, miss!” With that, he threw the ball, laughing happily when the ball bounced away. “So, you’s got a papa who’s got a dog, too? That’s nice!”

he laughs lightly.  “i haven’t got anything better to do, so it’s no problem.”  the setter stifles a yawn before gesturing to the other.  “lead the way.”

“You’s a nice person,” Crutchie replied as he started walking - first towards the coffee shop - while leaning on his crutch. “How long has you been here?”He asked to keep the conversation flowing.

“retracing your steps will probably help.“ he internally debates with himself for half a heartbeat before standing. “i can go with you to check. two sets of eyes searching is better than one. i’m tooru.”

Crutchie hummed in reply. “That sounds like a good idea,” he said. “Thanks, Tooru!” With a smile he paused for a moment, trying to think of where he had been. “I’s been walkin’ around the park and stopped by the coffee shop. It might be around there somehwere.”
