Aidy was not cut out for most of camp life; she hated being dirty or sweaty or anything like that, weapons were awful and broke her nails, and orange was not her best color (although really she looked good in anything). So she’d decided to find somewhere quiet and maybe with some flowers to make a flower crown - as long as none of the Demeter kids were around, that hadn’t gone well last time. The relative quiet of the path was broken by singing. Not very good singing, but Aidy liked to be encouraging, so she beamed at Charley,
“Oh, I don’t know it! You’re doing great though!” Her enthusiasm was genuine; Aidy loved seeing someone doing something they were passionate about, and Charley was definitely passionate. She clasped her hands in front of her as she listened, although her bright smile wavered a little. “Oh - I’m supposed to echo? I didn’t know that but I can do it.” She stopped to clear her throat and echoed the line. “Big things come from wittle minotaurs!”
Beaming, Charley continued. It was the most encouragement she’d gotten all day. “Small, but very scary minotaurs.” She continued and gestured for Aidy to echo once more. Charley gave a little jump as she did, squealing only slightly. “Tiny, fearsome, awesome minotaurs JUST LIKE MEEEEEEEEEE!!!” Charley’s last note was in three different keys, and none of them were the right one. But that didn’t stop her from spinning around in a circle with her arms stretched out. “And that’s no bull!” She gave one last little twirl and a wink as she finished on the button. “I didn’t think anyone would be around to hear me...sorry if I disturbed you with my ‘beautiful’ voice.” Charley laughed, composing herself after her bit.
