My version of Poppy’s Angel is actually Nico’s dad, Victor Ravens. He was lured to the facility in which his son worked with the knowledge he would find out what happened to him. He lost contact with Nico after The Hour of Joy happened and he’s been worried sick ever since.
I've changed it so that neither the Prototype nor the Doctor know that Nico escapes the factory to go and get supplies and food for the Critters. Nico never contacted his dad when he goes to the surface so as to keep the Critters safe. If he was to be able to properly feed himself and help feed everyone else, he needed to be secretive.
Everything in Ch 1 and 2 stays the same as far as I've come up with. It’s Ch 3 where everything becomes Canon Divergent.
CatNap isn’t actively trying to hurt Victor during the early parts of the chapter. He’s just play hunting. The man looks like The Bat and he's curious. It isn’t until Victor finds the mini safe haven Nico has created in Playcare as well as Nico that CatNap stops his hunting. Bat Dad is what he calls Victor. Together they rescue DogDay and the rest of Ch 3 plays out normally, sans CatNap dying.
Nico, CatNap, and DogDay follow Victor down to where Ch 4 takes place. They lead the older ginger to the meeting spot with Doey. And Safe Haven is where Nico and his crew stay while Victor goes to beat up Sawyer. He may or may not come back with Yarnaby.
NO ONE agrees with Poppy’s plan to blow everything up immediately. Get everyone to safety above and THEN blow things up is the plan.
NO ONE DIES IN THE SAFE HAVEN EXPLOSION. Nico and CatNap successfully brought everyone up to Playcare for safety after Nico got a bad feeling when Ollie told them the Prototype was outside. He left a note for Doey on the wall so he’d know everyone is safe.
Doey has no reason to crash out so he survives this Chapter as well.
Victor is very much ready to fight Huggy.
Nico Ravens- Ex-Employee of Playtime Co. Once worked in Playcare with the kids and then with the Bigger Body Smiling Critters. Due to vampire powers, he was able to keep himself safe when higher ups found out he knew about the experimentation going on further below. He helps out the toys during the Hour of Joy, mostly attacking people who he knew were involved in the scientific side of the factory. After the Hour of Joy, he makes his own version of Safe Haven up in Playcare and takes care of the Critters there. He somehow is able to sneak out of the factory whenever he needs to feed himself and to procure supplies for the critters. He rarely goes to the surface, usually being able to grab months worth of non-perishable goods while above.
Victor Ravens- Nico's father and "Poppy's Angel". He's brought to the factory with the promise that he'll find his son. He's completely unaware of what has been going on in that factory, Nico never told him much, but he's EXTREMELY understanding of why Nico stayed behind once he finds out. He's not a fan of Poppy, thinking she's sketchy on his first impression, but he's willing to go through with this revenge mission simply because it means he gets to bring Nico and so many children to safety.
CatNap- Once known as Theodore Grambell, he's the Bigger Body Initiative version of the sleepy cartoon kitty CatNap. A worshiper of the Prototype, his loyalties are indeed split between the mimicry monster below and the ginger vampire who's always been so kind and caring to him. In the end, he chooses his Big Brother, and sticks by his side as a friend and a companion. He's playful, curious, and very dangerous. He has very loose memories of when he was a human, but what he does remember is important to him.
DogDay- Who he was is unknown to Nico, but he's a very caring and extremely trustworthy being. Making sure the little ones, Nico, and even CatNap are safe and ok is his top priority. He'd been missing for a few months as of Chapter 3 and it was shocking to see him in the state that he was. He's since been healed as best as he could be, given a new lower half as well.
KittyNap- A defective CatNap plush that is Nico's own personal plushie. Smells like strawberries cause Nico performed surgery on him and inserted a scent disk into him instead. Isn't possessed, nor an experiment. He's weirdly sentient Toy Story style.
Waggles- A defective DogDay toy that Nico found one day. He doesn't disperse his vanilla scent. Is also weirdly sentient.
Mochi, Mallow, Gummy, and Orange- From an unreleased line of Smiling Critter plushies, they are small beanie baby sized plushies. They are unscented, relying on their smaller size for comfort. Mochi, Mallow, and Gummy are CatNaps while Orange is a DogDay. They are also weirdly sentient.
BubbleGum- A Rabie Baby plush that Nico found while delivering supplies to Safe Haven. She wasn't attacking him like the other Nightmare Critters were so he decided to scoop her up and adopt her. She's very clingy to her fellow bat and is protective of the other plushies in Nico's care.
