bloodwhispered:
“Come out with me tonight.” Rafael responded, so softly that it was barely louder than the rush of the traffic through the city. “After everyone else is done tonight. We should have a moment alone to- to think.”
It was tempting to lean over and catch the smoke that poured from Simon’s mouth and breath it in and let it simmer and crackle in his lungs. To feel something again. To feel something he could understand and control.
He paused for a moment, eyes obscured by the dark of the night, “I’ll need help on a quick patrol. I know a place after where we can just talk… If you’re not bad with heights.”
That wasn’t what he was expecting. He was expecting Rafael to need more time. He wouldn’t have been surprised, or really upset, if he’d been pushed away here and now. It was a difficult time for everyone involved.
“I’ve never had issues with heights.” He said, leaning up against the railing of the porch and breathing out a big lungful of air. It felt like letting go a bit more. Breathing was a little bit easier.
“I’ll always help, if you need me. And I’m sorry I wasn’t able to before, the past couple of years.”
