extremely pleased with progression of xiang liu / wen xiaoliu ship tbh. he is full of red flags and a nutcase still but......

he does genuinely care for her. and he knows her. and she keeps ruining his plans but instead of killing her like he would have he went and did a kill for money so he could buy expensive medicine for her and then healed her silently using his innate power which drains his health too without ever telling her!!! and he is so jealous the lover bug is on someone else he wants it to be him instead but wont explain. god its so good.

i still feel for ye shiqi a lot, but also situation determines romantic compatibility as much as personality! he simply is not his own man, as much as he wishes to be

Xiang Liu from Lost You Forever. Started him early this year because it was the year of the snake (the wood snake, and i know wood isn't his element, but still) and only recently finished him. Less than 5 hours in Procreate. I rushed it a bit, but I'm not unhappy with it.

I definitely believe that Xiao Yao was deeply in love with Fangfeng Bei / Xiang Liu. She is so traumatised with learned helplessness that she cannot put her love before the perceived burden that herself, her history, her family history, will put on anyone that she gets close to.

But I don't think Xiang Liu wanted to be with Xiao Yao as she was ? At least, as the General of Chenrong, an indecisive Xiao Yao would be the death of a whole army. I 100% feel that Xiang Liu would have wanted the Haoling Princess if she'd been able to more forward with her trauma.

And she would have put down everything to leave with him if he'd just moved on as Fangfeng Bei.

I'm not saying they want each other for superficial reasons, but that they were molded by decades upon decades of trauma to remain pragmatic above all else. Her only wish is for someone to fulfil the promise of rescuing her from the mountain. His only wish is for Chenrong to win and survive.

They love each other but have drastically different expectations that cannot translate into romance. They both need things to go 100% in the correct procedure because anything else will lead to one or all sides being wiped out in their mind.
