Itprobably shouldn’t have surprised him that his sister wanted to askhim about love advice. He’d seen the way she looked at Simon and knewthat his sister was in love. But handling it was something thateveryone was going to have to figure out on their own. He’d struggledfor the longest time when it came to how he felt for Clary. It hadn’thelped that he’d thought they were siblings and that he wasValentine’s son. If anything that made things worse. But the onething that remained the same was his love for her. Jace hadn’t feltthings like that before and he knew that she was the one for him.Their lives, though, the constant fighting and the threat of losingtheir life meant any sort of relationship wasn’t easy but somehow thetwo of them made it work. And he was certain that Izzy would make itwork, too. Simon may have been nothing more than a mundane, but heknew his sister would find a way to make it work. “Even if hewasn’t aware of our world, he’d still have dangers in his day to daylife,” he pointed out, hoping that his advice would help hissister. A lot of what he knew about the mundane world was because ofClary. And given that Clary and Simon were friends she was willing tohelp him out the best way she knew how. Which meant in turn he wouldhelp his sister. But none of that would help with the worrying thatcame when you loved someone. “All you can do is keep telling himto stay home I guess. Though if he refuses to listen he might justkeep showing up no matter what.” He didn’t know if they shouldkeep exposing Simon. That sort of danger wasn’t something he shoulddeal with but if Izzy wanted him to be exposed then so be it. “Justbe careful, Iz. He might end up finding more trouble than you’reready to deal with.”
∑ - Her brother was probably the best person to go to for anything. She trusted his judgement as well as his opinions. With a soft sigh, rough hands through her hair as she stood there, somewhat visibly stressing. Jace was right, Simon would experience day to day struggles but that would also be less than the kind of dangers in the downworlder world. Simon could end up in more danger than he had ever experienced, but if she was to introduce him to those dangers, keeping him protected and even armed. It was smarter than him randomly jumping into the middle of a battle, unarmed and entirely vulnerable. Also throwing off the skills and training that Isabelle had herself. “You are right, he would experience danger no matter where.” Just not the kind of dangers that they experience on a day to day basis. Reluctantly, Isabelle sat down on the bench, tapping her heeled foot, over and over again till the sound started echoing. Anxieties filled her veins while the love in her heart for the mundane was working to combat it. “I keep telling him to stay home and he just keeps coming. It’s like no matter what I say, he thinks he can protect me. Which I appreciate but at the same time he needs to knock it off before he gets seriously injured. I don’t want to be harsh to him, but I need to protect him. I... I think I love him Jace. I don’t want him hurt. I don’t think I’d be able to live with myself.”
