ehhh yes and no. Half of the movie was made just to get bonus points from feminists (the rant from one of the females about "why does it have to be my son and not me!") and to get as much shit in there as possible to get bonus points from the LGBT+ (cough cough the unnecessary trans actor who didn't even play the character well) and POC (Helen of Troy, whom even Greeks were like "No?? Why is she black?? She would have never been black" especially since African Americans were nowhere in Greece at the time of the Odyssey, and how the Greeks prided themselves on their blood remaining fully Greek) it's not just all "oh the evil white people are ruining everything and trying to make it all their culture" (though I do absolutely agree that it should have been Greek people or at least mostly Greek people casted in the film) it's more literally he was trying to get Hollywood bonus points. Why do you think rotten tomatoes and all those film things are giving it good scores? Literally for the Black and trans actors that never needed to be there and for the bullshit that was put in. I would not have had a problem with the trans actor if they had been a good actor, but no. They're not.

I am trans myself, with slight Greek roots, and have obsessively studied the Odyssey and ancient Greece since I was 8. While yes, I do agree the amount of clearly Americanized things in that movie is unacceptable, it is not just that. It is also idiots in Hollywood trying to gain points from LGBT+. It is not "direct legacy of white supremacist colonialism" but rather modern idiots trying to gain the favour of people on the internet.

Dude (gender neutral), it’s not exactly a good look to go on a post talking about the effects of colonialism and white supremacy while ragging on the singular main black actress and (that we know of) the singular trans actor and to say (as some one with ‘slight Greek roots’) that it’s not white supremacy, it’s just tokenism.

While there is a place to talk about that, it’s not here. You’re not even really engaging with the premise of dramatic-dolphin’s post, just rambling about wokeisms and all that. Which, honestly, is exactly what they’re talking about;

Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.

One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.

And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.
