He imagined that the road to being fully hard, to being bad news, would get steeper and more arduous only gradually, with many compensatory pleasures along the way, and that he would have the time to acclimate to each stage of it. But here he was at the very beginning of the road, already feeling as if he might not have the stomach for it.

Just a thought....

We truly only have ourselves to blame for our insecurities. We allow people and situations to define us and affect our internal states. Someone affixes the label of idiocracy to you. You have the authority to remove it or permit it to consume you. Once we realize that we have more power over our self-conscious thought than what we once believed, it is then we can begin to breathe and exist without our internalized brick walls and self-fulfilling prophecies.
