Queens of The Stone Age Live from MONA (Museum of Old and New Art)

For all the horrible things that have happened in 2020, a ray of light which is small but noticable enough is things like these.

I love it when bands come together and try to re-imagine their own songs and don’t make a huge deal about it in efforts to make an extra buck.

Queens of the stone age have just done something to make their fans happy just for the joy of doing it.

It’s for charity but it’s not locked behind a pay wall.

The renditions of Go With The Flow, Better Living Through Chemistry and their foray into Blues with C. W. Stoneking was just epic.

I hope we get more such gems to enjoy and make our lives a little better.

Galactic Premiere: Deftones "Passenger" (Mike Shinoda Remix) and Video |...

This smooth luscious track by Deftones is just what I was looking for in this depressing landscape of the ongoing pandemic.

The feeling of driving down unknown roads, drifting under a stary night is just sublime.

The empty passenger seat signifying someone who has lost a loved one or companion recently just pulls at the heart strings.

With a new album coming out this year Deftones seem to be on a roll.

LOLLA2020 - Joshua Homme - Spinning in Daffodils

This surprise unplugged version by Josh Homme of ‘Spinning in Daffodils’ by Them Crooked Vultures had me in goosebumps and I’ve been humming it for the past 2 days.

A far cry from the original but one that still stays real to it’s soul. It feels like Homme is in some sort of zone and the backdrop is the creamy chocolate frosting on the cake that is this song.

The song takes me to a new age surreal and odd feeling world of Alice in wonderland. The colors are inverted and I can see ultra-violet light, the already  bizzare world is taken to another level. I feel like a little beetle flying around this world unnoticed, observing the tale unfold and Spinning in the Daffodils.

Must re-visit Them Crooked Vultures again and get lost in the worlds they create through the music again.

Bob Moses & ZHU - Desire (Official Video)

A visual masterpiece, one of those videos where no matter where you pause, it has a story to tell.

A simple story that connects with almost anybody. We’ve all been there and are afraid that we’ll be there again.

I wish I had a feeling and moment that this song takes me to but it’s so beautifully depicted I feel like it would be unfair, I’m in love.

Sometimes we don’t need to go deep and simple lyrics can move you in a monumental way.

This little gem had been in the queue way longer that it should’ve been.

Blasting me off into oblivion using a quiver full of fuzzy, powerful, stoned and trippy arrows.

I’m off to another dimension of sound thanks to Triptonus.

If I had to trickle down the essence of this song to a moment, it would be something like this.

It’s night and we’re at the beach with a very low tide, huddled around a bonfire this song plays on and we start dancing led by a shaman. It is a primitive dance one locked in our psyche for eternia. The power lifts us to another plain of existence, a place of transcendence and pure primal power.

It’s been a while since I’ve pumped some Mars Red Sky down my ear holes and now I’m wondering why not.

This fragrant platter of smooth well curated sounds is just what is needed in this instant.

Mild Orange - Some Feeling

A dimly lit bar. A kind of place where most of the crowd are regulars, art made by the patrons is spread accross the walls. They loved the place so much that they chose to leave their mark on it. That’s where this song takes me. 

I’m the one on stage playing this song and I dedicate it to the girl that has made a special place in my heart as I pluck the first string.

A feeling of delightful warmness takes over as I continue the song and see the glint of belonging in her eyes.

A punchy progressive lollipop covered in one of Disect’s unique flavors is perfect for groovin’ whether you’re driving or just unwinding.

Setting off with a sweet rhythmic intro to a more traditional progressive sound, the flow of moods and waves is what I would call ‘beautiful’.

It’s quite a varying and lush soundscape with a hint of instrumentals, a good helping of bass heavy beats, to spacey electronic notes sprinkled with sweet and salty soundbites.

All rolled up into a groovy multi colored lollipop that is this song.

The Lazy Sunday Anthem

The low vibrating vibes of this album are perfect for a relaxed weekend session.

Taking you on a trip right from your sofa as you fall back on a cushion of those sweet ass vocals and just the right amount of oomph from the guitars.

Leave your life and troubles at the end of that toke and journey with the Nightworkers to lands so vivid they’ll blow your minds eye.

Inspired by legends of old, they bring a hallucinogenic amalgamation of styles and sounds to the present.

The gentle tones and rawness of the sound make for a sublime combination. Accompanied by sweet vocals reminiscent of honey, this song transports you to a moment shared in the arms of someone special. The exhilarating sense of freedom felt while embracing another and not having a care in the world is hard to put in words.

I imagine this playing as we swing in our hammock on a tropical island and you have the biggest smile on your face. The waves gently break on the shore creating a rhythm for this moment. Light from the setting sun is just perfect, turning everything a shade of orange and pink. The sea breeze gently sways your long beautiful hair while your soft smooth skin glistens in the evening light. I hold you from behind as we swing back and forth, placing my face in your hair, you turn and softly place your lips on mine.

The longing to lose yourself in the moment is extremely special and unique. I hope you forever seek that feeling and live as many moments as possible truly embracing each one.

Don’t know if you’re familiar with the Kyle Gass Band. If you’re not then this will be an awesome introduction to them and if you are aware of them then this will blow your mind.

I love these days when I’m going through bandcamp for random music.

Found this groovy piece of genius under the instrumental hip hop tag. It’s such a unique and ear pleasing collection of sounds put together for the amusement of Me! :) and many others.

It makes me want to move! I picture this playing in the background with me and a buddy on the rooftop on a slightly breezy evening, more than a couple of beers and some other things ;) staring at the lights all over the city and taking a moment out to do nothing but live.

 So take some time off from whatever you’re doing and just live. These moments are precious few and much needed if you ask me. Put this on, turn the volume up and just let yourself go. If you’re sitting in a chair or in the train or on a plane or at work! 

Just let go and let the music take you to wherever you need to be, even if it’s for a few minutes.
