Chua Sketches! I worked on the MMO “Wildstar” at Carbine Studios for 8+ years, and while it will very shortly be shut down, I’ll never forget these little guys. If you’re going to be playing WildStar until the end or at all, please consider helping gather data that will enable unofficial servers to be built.

“Packet sniffing” is a way of monitoring net traffic on the ports the game uses.  The logs from this monitoring are very helpful to people who want to reverse-engineer software to emulate what’s running on the WildStar servers, because basically it shows what the client and server are saying to each other when various in-game actions are performed.

The opportunity to collect that data while the game is still live is important.  The more people who contribute, and the more different things they do in-game, the less hard it will be to do MMO necromancy create an unofficial server.

Since Tumblr doesn’t show posts in tag searches if there’s an external link, all I can do is ask you to search for the term “arctium” on the WildStar Reddit, read the post that comes up, and follow the link in that post to learn more.

Here is the thing: Til the 28th of November, please log the game. It’s really not hard to set the thing up and just do the content. There will be all of our fav events, and you can buy all the cool cosmetics from the store. If you aren’t sure how to contribute: - Do raids. With the actual tactics, not the burn strats! - Do dungeons. I mean, with the actual tactics and not the burn strats. - Do adventures. Yes, even Malgrave Trail. Try to choose all the options where applicable. - Do shiphands. …Which aren’t called shiphands but it stuck with me since beta…The soloable minidungeons. - Go to the 5-man quest areas in the 50 zones, especially Grimvault. Do the quests there and log them. - Please oh please people on the US servers: DO A WARPLOT. Also do PvP and log it. Seriously. The EU population is so low it’s impossible to get these done. - DO CHALLENGES! - Log your housing areas. - TOUCH THE DATACUBES!!! Interact with the npcs. Read the logs. Use the toys, the mounts, and all the funky stuff we got during the game. Make screenshots and gifs. Have fun while we still can with this digital masterpiece. Then you can save and zip these files and send to the Arctium guys, whom will reconstruct all they can. Please contribute. If you only have a little time, do some solo content. Every bit helps, quite literally x)
