umm... concept: snape looking fucked up with scarring from his tussle with buckbeak. even though he managed to leave, where-ever he went (unless he went directly home) was likely to not be well stocked with things like dittany. and he might not have had any immediate chance to heal wounds from that good, good hippogriff.

It was probably way past school hours when Ariana silently made her way down the corridors of Hogwarts. She was unable to sleep after a rather upsetting dream. Or more like a memory in her case.
Carefully peeking from behind a corner, Ariana checked to see if anyone was around. Quietly making her way down into the dungeon’s of the school, the 6th year Slytherin found a small area to sit and just think. She thought about what would happen during the summer when she had to leave for break. She did not want to go home. At all.
Ariana suddenly heard footsteps and began to panic. She didn’t want to get caught just yet. So, she quickly got and turned to run only to run straight into the oh so familiar dungeon bat. Just her luck.
“…I can explain.” She mumbled under her breath.
HIS STUDENTS JUST BARELY HAVE THE LUCK OF THE DRAW. immediate punishment is not on the books for slytherins found out of bed; nonetheless his expression is tempered, his wand out and lit. the shadows played against his face to make him seem thinner than he was, hollowing out his cheeks and eyes to make him skull-like in the gloom.

there’s a pointed silence. remus clears his throat. he hadn’t heard severus coming in, much less been aware that he’d been listening in on the conversation. he presses out a brittle little sigh. he could waste time and breath with a retort, but the look he fixes on severus is enough.
When you bang on the wall you have to remember you’re on both sides of it already but go ahead, yell at yourself.

His office is as dismal as the man himself, lit only by candle and sparsely decorated. Cersei might not have thought such a feat possible if she were not seeing it in the flesh. She wastes no time in taking a seat in the wooden chair opposite his desk, vaguely irritated that he has no more comfortable pieces for guests to rest upon, and sets her handbag hesitantly upon the floor ( the purse cost a small fortune, and the air in this room seems so dank and damp she is not certain it is clean at all ).
But there is a purpose behind her visit, so it matters little enough. “Joff called me up here, asked if I could speak with you sometime before classes resume after the winter break. He appears to be failing only your class. Why?” She has seen his potion practice at home – not as spectacular as her own, but nowhere near material that should fail.
HIS SALLOW MOUTH MAKES A THIN PRESSED LINE; almost a smile, yet lacking in any amusement that would make his black eyes glitter. he sets his quill back into a pot of dark, greenish ink and leaves it there, allowing cersei her time to preen and get comfortable and - most importantly - get to the point whilst he puts drying parchment aside. he’s thankful that she doesn’t take her time in the way so many parents - few as parental visits tend to be - are wont to. always meandering around trying to work up to their child’s miserable performance.
dryly polite - he always is to cersei, who he has known for so long: ‘ your son is neither a model student nor a pristine potions maker. in other classes he might be able to get past on merit or sheer nerve, but in potions, accuracy and attitude, ’ and being in slytherin, and not grating mercilessly on severus snape’s nerves, ‘ are pertinent qualities. ’
( you know, I never got into HP. but for some odd reason I stumbled across your blog and just HAD to read the last thing you wrote then HAD to go back and read all of it and just HAD to start shipping snape + remus even though idk who either of them are. and then I was like--- do I follow??? because you haven't been active for a while--- but.. I must... because that was some nice writing... so yeah. I hope you come back one day <3 )

i was clearing out my drafts but i couldn’t bear to get rid of this
harry can be such a turd as teenagers go but there’s like genuine pride in me at the anger and shame he felt over the way his father & godfather bullied snape; that he said he felt sorry for snape, and that his instant reaction after exiting the pensieve was “of course i won’t tell anyone about this”. i like to think snape and harry would have made decent allies, maybe even cautious friends after the war; they have a lot of issues and traits (temperament, being bullied, an astounding loyalty to dumbledore among other things) that just ... it would have been great to see harry and snape talking as adults on equal footing.

hello! it’s my birthday today, and here’s what i’ve been doing instead of celebrating: i’ve begun compiling all of snape’s appearances and mentions in the books in a easy-to-read google document. only philospher’s stone is up at the moment but i am working on the others. if you don’t mind sharing this so that people who would get some use of it will see it, that’d be great!
edit: i’m now already working on poa, which is pretty top.
edit: i’m going to finish order of the phoenix tonight it looks like, but after that i’ll probably take a break for a day or two because half blood prince - owing to all those half bloody princy no-name mentions of name - will be a task and a half.

stupid headcanon o’clock: being a potions master, and an exceptionally gifted one at that, makes snape a really good cook. a really, really good cook. you wouldn’t know it because when he’s at home he lives off the wizard equivalents of instant ramen, but... he knows.
