Ima/Kako/Gaku thoughts?

i dont ship kako romantically with either of them so it's not something i really considered or like... want to? but a platonic or (even better) undefined close dynamic is really fun to think about. i love that the twins bully gaku so much but also i think that comes from a place of affection. like awww that's our punching bag <3 and also because they're middle schoolers and they're just like that lmao. clocked the most bulliable guy in the group.

i made a dynamic chart for them + takemaru a long time ago:

i still think about this arrangement a lot. the tsukumos themselves are still their canon dynamic here- codependent and complicated. but i do think kako would be a little icked out if she figured out ima had a crush on gaku before ima does lol

I'm always a sucker for a character (other than the protag) having as many dynamics with other characters as possible than just sticking to one character for nearly the whole game

(Which is why im fond with that one Gaku chart you have drawn and your other portrayals of characters)

thank you!! i think the chart i made is a small part of a bigger issue that i have with the game as a whole- and one i know i'm not alone in. there's only so many ways to make a massive game with 100 endings and still have a majority of its fans loudly clamoring for DLC. and one of those ways is not taking advantage of character potential.

it's actually kind of absurd how many characters in the sdu just dont have much of a dynamic at all. 21 routes, 100 endings, and nothing. even among some of the Main Characters™️. eito and nozomi are literally narrative foils and i can count the interactions they have between each other on ONE hand!!

this is why 1st scenario is my favorite route. well, it's my favorite for a lot of reasons but one of the big reasons was that it felt like more dynamics were evenly distributed. things felt a little more tight-knit, even if takumi himself was more distant. and there are other routes that sorta do this, such as CoA and Slasher, but ultimately all dynamics get sucked up by the greedy red thing and you'll see little else besides the same nozomi-kurara-kyoshika stuff or tsukumos stuff or maybe a shouma and takemaru moment if you're lucky.

seeing that HC of Gaku getting hitched first in Rebellion with a Futuran lady than an SDU member made me laugh slightly at first but then makes a lot more sense when you start thinking about it he's the one who could stay most grounded with the Futurans with anything that doesn't involve fighting like you said and eventually gain a good rep with his efforts that the supposed bad qualities become a thing in the past, between the group and kept in the bed Basically a much better start than he had in SDU

lol another one of my twitter interactions extending to tumblr i see. yeah part of the primary reason gaku is so insufferable to the SDU is the stressful situation + him prioritizing his family back home and not considering anyone else, so he doesn't need to get too attached to people he's only forced to be around for 100 days (even if he REALLY wants to be friends with them).

when you shatter that hope that he'll get back to his family with the truth and put him in a position where he's taking care of people, i think you'll see a much milder gaku. he's still his same gaku self (especially when they have to engage in combat with humanity) but ultimately on his downtime they'll see a competent, dependable guy who's really good with kids. so if he ends up marrying someone i think it's really only surprising to the SDU members lol. the village people gaku's been distributing lovingly cooked meals to were probably gossiping about him and his wife-to-be before they even got together... damn i almost wanna make this oc...

i usually dont like the idea of SDU/native futuran ships because of the colonizer/colonized aspect, but a rebellion route setting is different since they're actively working for the peace and happiness of futurum, which is a way of redemption.

do you think gaku working at dive bars as a teenager affected how he relates around others? it seems to me like he was exposed to a lot

oh 100% yeah. i think he's nowhere close to as exposed to shit as ima is, but he's definitely been around things he shouldn't have. i feel like a lot of the way he talks also comes from that dive bar experience, especially when he talks about girls

Gaku and Kamuyuhn.....wow it really is such a missed opportunity for Gaku to project her as one of his little sisters in rebellion, meanwhile, Nozomi does that fully in KG....now I feel a little annoyed lol

haha, i see you're talking about my post on twitter. i'll post it here too then! my continuation to my gaku potential man chart (rebellion route spoilers):

it is a little frustrating that nozomi basically monopolizes all of the kamyuhn stuff- hell she gets more screentime with kamyuhn than kamyuhn's own mother. i dont think that should be taken from nozomi- especially when the two act as thematic foils between takumi making choices for the greater good or takumi relapsing on his selfish choice to protect his "karua"

but rebellion route is just a lot of missed potential overall. gaku's presence in it is the least of my concerns, but seeing more dynamics between kamyuhn and the others would've really added more sauce to the route. and i may be biased when i say this, but gaku forming a somewhat unhealthy connection and wanting to care for her would've been incredible. urgh, the whole route needed so much more than what it was...
