The question of what is deserved should rarely, if ever, be asked. Asking it leads to deadly judgment, and acts of unmitigated evil. Atrocity revisited in the name of justice breeds its own atrocity.
Steven Erikson, Midnight Tides
To live is to wage war against the Abyss. In our growth we find conquest, in our stagnation we find ourselves under siege, and in our dying our last defences are assailed.
Udinaas, Midnight Tides Malazan Book of the Fallen
SABATON - 7734
The dawn of time breaks See the sun rise to the sky The wheel of time begins to turn But then we heard it A divine voice out of nowhere Spoke to our hearts and showed the way Almighty lord we have come to your hall Do glatem live, creator of all Open your heart and you will find a way Paradise calling and enter you may Falling down Now your soul returns to paradise Double-Seven thirty-Four The wheel kept turning, ages came Time passed us by We lived in perfect harmony But then it happened Our ranks decreased rapidly But now its time for our return Once we were numerous But that’s long ago We are no longer double seven three four Last two united and two became one One-hundered eleven perished in flames
Do glatem live = Evil Metal God 7734 - type it on the calcurator and turn it around 180 degres = HELL 7734 - last two united 3+4=7, and two became one = 777 111 perished in flames 777 - 111 = 666

This is honestly one of the most beautiful tunes I’ve ever heard
Agalloch - The Melancholy Spirit lyrics
on that note, let’s talk about slavery for just a sec. Or rather, let’s have a short list of the groups that have had slaves over the years:
“Slavery was known in almost every ancient civilization, and society, including Sumer, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, the Akkadian Empire, Assyria, Ancient India, Ancient Greece, the Roman Empire, the Islamic Caliphate, the Hebrew kingdoms in Palestine, and the pre-Columbian civilizations of the Americas.”
The Egyptians (you know…there’s only an entire book in the Bible dedicated to a single group of these slaves and is only one of the most famous stories of slavery of all time, but you know…nothing big).
“In early Islamic states of the Western Sudan (present-day West Africa), including Ghana (750–1076), Mali (1235–1645), Segou (1712–1861), and Songhai (1275–1591), about a third of the population were enslaved.”
“Indigenous slaves existed in Korea. Slavery was officially abolished with the Gabo Reform of 1894 but continued in reality until 1930. During the Joseon Dynasty(1392–1910) about 30% to 50% of the Korean population were slaves.”
“The hill tribe people in Indochina were “hunted incessantly and carried off as slaves by the Siamese (Thai), the Anamites (Vietnamese), and the Cambodians.“
“The Aztecs had slaves. Other Amerindians, such as the Inca of the Andes, the Tupinambá of Brazil, the Creek of Georgia, and the Comanche of Texas, also owned slaves.”
“According to Robert Davis between 1 million and 1.25 million Europeans were captured by Barbary pirates and sold as slaves in North Africa and Ottoman Empire between the 16th and 19th centuries.”
“The Arab slave trade lasted more than a millennium. As recently as the early 1960s, Saudi Arabia’s slave population was estimated at 300,000. Along with Yemen, the Saudis abolished slavery only in 1962. Slaves in the Arab World came from many different regions, including Sub-Saharan Africa (mainly Zanj), the Caucasus (mainly Circassians), Central Asia (mainly Tartars), and Central and Eastern Europe (mainly Saqaliba).”
But let’s not get into history. Let’s look at what’s going on in the world today, shall we?
Dunno about you guys, but those suspiciously vibrant colors are very obviously NOT in North America or Western Europe. In fact, they look a lot like…*gasp* POC countries! Shocker that African countries, India, and South Asian countries have such a high incidence of slavery. I mean…not, especially since I’ve picked up a history book or two in my life.
And this is from Wikipedia. Wikipedia, people. This is literally that easy to look up (And yes, I can get reliable sources if you want them). Your ignorant comments on how slavery is a “white people problem” and not your own goddamn problem as well are irrelevant, not wanted in this discussion, and literally so ignorant and America-centric like how did you even pass World Civ? Yes chattel slavery was principally a European invention and carried out by white people; that does not mean that slavery or even racism is only a “white people problem” and that nobody else is implicated in or responsible for racism and slavery. Literally every civilization in the world has experienced and participated in the slave trade; this is not something magically restricted to white countries. Shut up and take your ignorant opinions elsewhere.
PUTIN DOESN’T WANT YOU TO SEE THIS VERY ILLEGAL MEME
Tl;dr: You should read the Malazan books because they are a sprawling epic (in the literal sense) replete with great representation, complex and interesting characters, heart-rending tragedy and uplifting victories, and because the relationship between Tehol Beddict and Bugg is great.
In a few…
In an interview with the Washington Post, a young tank gunner whose testimony is included in the report, described how he and others fired cannon and machine gun bursts at random travelers on a main north-south highway in the Gaza Strip simply because they were bored and wanted to prove how good their aim was.

The only democracy in the Middle East, etc, etc.
In India’s Thar Desert, nomads rely so much on camels for survival that the animals are revered. Livestock owners take great pride in their camels, carving intricate patterns in their fur.
I’M ACTUALLY SO GLAD THAT THIS POST IS GETTING REBLOGGED A LOT BECAUSE I’VE HAD THIS IN MY QUEUE FOR WEEKS AND I’VE BEEN SO EXCITED FOR PEOPLE TO SEE IT BECAUSE WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS I THOUGHT IT WAS BASICALLY THE COOLEST THING EVER
