Today I wanted to talk about Kyle Bassinga. Kyle was a 21 year old man from Georgia, whose family described him as "a kind, thoughtful, and smart young man who loved nature, music, and the people around him". Kyle Bassinga was killed on February 18th 2026, just ten days after his birthday. He was found hanging from a tree in a park.

The police ruled it a suicide. The family and local community demanded an investigation. The police refused to change their ruling.

I know this website it too white for this to really go anywhere, but an understanding of the present reality of white supremacy in the United States is just so important to transfeminism here. Lynchings never stopped, white supremacy never went away, you just stopped looking.

Juliana Nzita, A 16 year old Black girl, was just found hanging from a tree on church grounds in Charlotte, NC. Police have ruled it a suicide, despite hanging ourselves from trees being like the one communally agreed way Black folks ain’t killing ourselves.

Every time I go on Twitter or Facebook I learn about another recent lynching or missing Black person going mostly unreported. Half the reason I keep an active account on either of those sites is because they’re the only place I can find out about the violence happening to Black and Trans people reasonably quickly.

But I do need y’all to know that Black folks are currently, actively, being disappeared and lynched—if they even find our bodies. Black girls are and have been more often stolen into human trafficking, especially if they’re immigrants, but I’ve been seeing new news of probable lynchings every other day. Shit is worse than you think it is right now, tumblr just too white of a site to care lol

Non-Black and/or non-US based people often wonder why so many left-leaning Black folks in the US try to operate alternate justice systems within smaller community such as restorative justice, transformative justice, etc. when “all over the world, activists and their ancestors have fought for access to legal systems like this” and this is why.

Our legal system is explicitly designed to kill and enslave Black people. Our legal system from the cops to the lawyers and courts (one of the few times we got justice) to the prisons is legalized slavery where prisons are privatized and corporations are encouraged to maximize their profit by incentivizing every part of this system to hold as many people as possible.

Black folks can be proven innocent after years of time in prison or on death row and still killed by the state or dying in prison because the goal was never justice, it was to keep culling and controlling the Black population.

And outside of the system, we are lynched, raped, abused, trafficked, and robbed by those involved in our legal system, lives often irreparably destroyed, entire lives disappeared with no justice because that is the point, not a flaw. It’s almost always those in the legal system or their families and friends doing this, so that it can be ruled a suicide or a runaway or intracommunity issues and swept away.

So when we look to justice systems that do not throw away a life of any human, it is because we do not wish to see them enslaved, murdered, raped, abused, etc. at the hands of the state, because that is what WILL happen here in the US. We become abolitionists because we see that the alternative option is to allow others to become enslaved. Because it’s a minimum we can do when 95% of the time there will be no justice for us no matter what.

i do think the negative interpretations of "im probably nonbinary but i have a job right now" are kind of reaching. it's obviously a waste of time to theorize the op's intended meaning, so instead i think it's better to recognize how the phrase can be a useful framing device to criticize how much of a fucking hassle it is to get gendered correctly. "but i have a job" e.g. will face discrimination that could threaten livelihood; e.g. don't have the mental bandwidth to explain gender to others; e.g. don't have the time and energy for the soul-searching necessary to confirm. all three of these are labor issues. yes you could interpret it as "but being nonbinary isn't important enough to worry about", despite that being a blatantly bad-faith read. it's more useful to interpret it as "but being publicly nonbinary requires a lot of social effort that, in many cultural contexts, will create more problems that you can't afford to deal with". like cmon it's a really good jumping off point for productive conversations about queer labor rights

I think the thing transandro bros fundamentally do not understand is that, our worst case scenario as trans men is being seen as ugly weird women. And yeah that sucks. But trans women’s worst case scenario isn’t being seen as men. They are never viewed or treated as cis men are. Their worst case scenario is that they are completely unpersoned.

Reversing that, a trans man’s best case scenario is being perceived and treated as a cis man. Which is to say, receiving an immense amount of privilege. A trans woman’s best case scenario is being treated as a cis woman, and facing the brunt of all the misogyny implied there within.

Of trans men and trans women, only one group ever gets the privilege of being seen as men and navigating through the world that way. Not all trans men get that. But trans men never get unpersoned the way trans women do on the basis of gender.

In the narratives of transphobes, trans men are never the perpetrators, never the problem. We are always victims of “the trans cult,” autistic women lead astray. Think of Irreversible Damage, of their obsession with our reproductive organs. This narrative is awful. It is dangerous. But it is just flat out not what trans women get stuck with.

Trans women are stuck being called groomers and rapists and too strong for sports while simultaneously, because transphobes are fascists, framed as pathetic effete weak unpersons that they want to enact physical, sexual, and structural violence against under the belief that they cannot fight back. Because fascists paint their enemies as unfathomably strong and pathetically weak at the same time.

the laws that target us do not have exceptions for the right kind of trans person. Transgender men experience corrective rape, murder, etc. The worst case scenario for a trans man is being seen as a trans man, by a transphobic person who wants to harm them.

I really don't want to have this debate again. Baraphalloplastyclinic said this so perfectly that this should be over and done with, but I guess I'll give it one shot:

98% of murdered trans people are trans women and femmes. Your chance of getting murdered for being trans is MUCH MUCH higher if you're a trans woman or trans femme. 4900% higher. Being seen as a trans man by a transphobe sucks, but it is not as dangerous as being seen as a trans woman by a transphobe.

Laws like bathroom bills - that on paper apply to all trans people - get applied to trans women far more often and with far more brutality than against trans men. Homeless trans men are far more likely to get access to single-sex homelessness shelters of any gender than homeless trans women are to get access to any shelter. The framing of trans women as dangerous and not human means the law comes down harder on trans women again and again.

That doesn't mean some trans men don't go through horrific shit. But trans women are systematically much worse off. They're worse off when they get viewed and treated as the gender they are, and they're worse off when they get viewed and treated as trans.

Now I can already hear people go "But Black trans men -". Yeah, Black trans men go through a lot more shit than white trans people. But they are systematically less likely to experience murder, job discrimination, denial of access to services, and so on than Black trans women. All the data shows this, again and again, for every minority demographic among trans people.

We would be much stronger as a trans community, much better able to support each other through our suffering, if we all accepted this extremely basic, very well-documented fact.

There is a hunger strike going on right now to protest the abhorrent conditions within the camp (allegations of torture, maggots and other bugs in the food, etc) and protests happening outside the camp. ICE is not allowing any politicians to come in (as is their right) to see the conditions of the camp. theres a phenomenon that happens on here i have been calling "normalize loving parents posting" which is when you spend a lot of time on tumblr and are exposed to a lot of one specific counter-cultural narrative day in and day out until you start to forget what the dominant ideas are for most of the human population and thus feel the need to "defend" things that are widely accepted and popular. it's called this because of the time a bunch of text posts about shitty dads were circulating and then people with good relationships with their dad didn't feel included enough and started making "uhmmm can we normalize loving parents? not everyone has a deadbeat dad, MY dad is great" type posts, seemingly forgetting that good relationship with dad is a cultural norm that is expected and encouraged. i think its good practice, especially when im annoyed, to stop before i hit the post button and ask myself if this is a real issue or if im normalize loving parents posting. because often im about to try to normalize loving parents

Clothing company Patagonia is currently sueing drag queen Pattie Gonia for "irreparable” harm to their brand.

To be clear; Pattie named herself after the region in South America.

So Pattie is asking people to politely ask Patagonia to drop the lawsuit.

I'm extending the invitation to all of you, because sueing a drag queen for 'infringement' in the current political cultural landscape is vile. Especially a drag queen who has raised millions of dollars for non-profits, uses her platform to raise awareness for climate activism, and fully aligns with Patagonia's apparent climate-conscious mission statement.

They're claiming they're sueing for $1. They're actually asking her to stop using her name, and pay over $1 million in legal fees. They're straight up harassing her.

In contrast, drag queen Jan Sport has a Jansport bag line. It's that easy to just... work with a queen.

Anyway. Be respectful(ish), but feel free to be annoying on Patagnoia's socials, asking them to 'DROP THE LAWSUIT'
