No Dawn For You
A customer throws a drink on you while in the presence of both Pierrot, and Harlequin. Double cooked.
Written with afab in mind, since that's what I played as.
Tw: maybe blood, I haven't decided yet.

The Cafe, busy per usual, bustling with plenty of customers seeking hot drinks during the cold early afternoon. The daytime, busy as it was for you, was particularly uninteresting to a certain two individuals who had, for lack of better terms, become your loving guardians during certain days and hours of the night.
Harlequin, ever the flirty asshole, spent a large portion of time at the cafe doing small tricks with napkins or people's drinks so your boss allowed him to stay without needing to buy a drink he wouldn't care to finish. He might look busy socializing most of the time, but he always kept a close eye on you, should you enter his field of view to drop off drinks or pastries for a table or guests.
Pierrot was on the other end of the spectrum to a certain degree, It didn't matter where you were in the cafe, his eyes never. Ever. Left you. His head could be facing the milkshake he always gets, while his golden eyes follow you, without moving his head. He always wore that lovesick smile, and if given the chance, children who interact with the huge clown are typically met with smiles and silent gimmicks and occasional tricks if he can take his eyes off of you for long enough.
Of course, Harlequin could barely go an hour without doing something to mildly irritate Pierrot, from lingering touches near your hips or adjusting the green heart pin on the collar of your shirt. Every touch was fleeting, you were at work after all, these two were crazy, but had some semblance of manners.
But..things take crazy turns when adored so much by two monsters wearing human skin. There was always going to be that one patron, that one who just could not help but take their day out on you, or judged you for taking too long when the cafe was busy. But on this occasion, it was the end of your shift, you had just finished cleaning when a man came in, the bell jingling softly when the door opened.
Pierrot was just inches from seizing Harlequin by the throat, quickly retracting his hands when the presence of someone other than yourself showed up. "Sir we're clo-" you began, only to be swiftly silenced when he so brazenly interrupted you. "I don't care, it'll be quick, I just need an espresso, shouldn't it be too hard?" He hummed, his tone very matter-of-fact and somewhat pompous. There was only one thing in this world that could unite Both Harlequin and Pierrot, and that was if someone dared to disrespect the person they held so dearly.
"If it isn't so hard, you should make it yourself~" Harlequin grinned and raised his hands in faux surrender when the man shot him a pointed look followed by a cocked brow. Pierrot, unable to speak, could only glare at the man from a short distance away, if he couldn't use his words, he would use his overwhelming presence to intimidate people. "I'm not the barista here, you weirdo." He commented and looked back to watch you as you pressed the ground coffee beans.
Harlequin wanted to open his mouth and make another snarky comment, but he caught Pierrot in his peripherals, silently looming over this foolish man with his hands slightly outstretched, his fingers twitching with restraint. Harlequin didn't need to say more, his grin only sharpened and turned more sly as he brought a hand up and snickered behind his fingers.
"Whatever you say, Sir~" he chuckled and leaned against the counter, watching you make this arrogant man's drink, momentarily hypnotized by the simple movements of your fingers and slight sway of your hips when you shifted your weight onto your other foot. Pierrot hated when he so obviously stared at you in such a way, damn near drooling like a wild dog, how revolting.
"sorry for the wait, I just cleaned everything." You hummed, a slightly scornful twinge in your tone as you leaned against the counter slightly, wiping down your tools with a soft sigh as the man hummed and took a sip while his other hand fidgeted with his wallet. And the next thing you knew, scalding hot espresso was thrown onto your uniform, seems he struggled to avoid spitting it at you too.
You yelped, flailed in a panic for a moment as you teared up and almost ripped your apron off, "Ow ow ow-" you whined, running a rag down your arms. You were bordering on a panic attack when two careful hands covered yours, smaller then Pierrot's but larger then yours, Harlequins. "Relax, relax.." he urged with a rarely worn frown, gloved claws moving with a gentleness that didn't seem right for the flirty green clown.
He stuck the rag under running water for just a second to cool it off before running it along your skin. It was only now that you were calm did you notice Pierrot, and the man was missing, heaven only knows what fate had in store for that man while alone with Pierrot. "Are you alright? Hm..burns anywhere else?" He chuckled, bringing one of your arms up to his face where he pressed kisses and the occasional lick to the irritated skin.
"No I'm fine.." you sighed, wiping away the tears that lingered in the corner of your eyes as his claws carefully raked over your wrists to intertwine with your fingers. "If you're sure..I wouldn't mind placing kisses elsewhere if that's where it hurts~" he cooed teasingly, his sharp smile widening as he squeezed your hand and leaned in close, his mask lightly bumping your forehead in his gesture of a feather light kiss.
He then glanced over his shoulder before looking back at you and tilting his head, "If he takes much longer I might not be able to keep my hands to myself~" he teased, a chuckle to his words as his hands moved swiftly from yours to your hips. "Harlequin, you know, I still have to clean up all of the coffee.." you muttered and leaned back slightly as he leaned in towards your neck, his side was your left, while Pierrot may fight and argue that all of you is his, the bite marks left by Harlequin were purposeful in keeping you shared.
"That can wait, Can't it?" He grumbled softly, claws digging just slightly into your uniform, a shiver running down your spine and back up when his tongue ran along your clavicle to your shoulder. It was hard to argue against him, everything he did made it feel like your mind and body were giving into him before you ever had the chance to argue back, even as you tilted your head away from him and his grin widened at the better access, he only left a small nip, before leaning back and raking his forked tongue across his teeth.
"ₐₕ~ ᵢ 𝓬ₒᵤₗ𝓭 𝓭ₑᵥₒᵤᵣ ᵧₒᵤ ₕₑᵣₑ ₐₙ𝓭 ₙₒ𝔀.." he hummed, his voice breathy and sultry, like it was taking all of his will to keep from doing just that. "But..I'm sure Pierrot will be back in a minute, and he'd.." he groaned like a petulant child before scratching his mask, walking around the counter and looking outside the window.
You however couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, looking at the door as you took a clean rag to wipe down the counter. "Shouldn't you two be going back to the circus by now? Your show should be soon." You reminded, the evening sky outside slowly darkened as the stars made their grand appearance, slowly dotting the sky.
"Ahh..ugh, too much to do, too little time~ Will you come see me after my show~?" He cooed, approaching the door but staring at you before he even reached for the handle. "Depends on if my new burns start hurting like a bitch." You remarked with a cocked brow, his grin shrinking slightly as he narrowed his eyes, "Lucky Pierrot..getting his hands on that..foul man." He hissed through grit teeth, before breathing out a sigh and looking at you again.
"Fine then, if you don't show, I'll just come here~! I'm sure I can beat Pierrot to his side of the bed.." he snickered softly, mischievous per usual when it came to his competition with Pierrot over your attention. All you could do is smile as you let out an exasperated sigh, waving goodbye as he slipped out the door like a grinning shadow. And not long after he was out the door, did Pierrot return, looking disheveled to an extent.
"..Taken care of." Was all he said in regard to the man who both disrespected you and harmed you so severely. His eyes were wide, though his usual grin was absent from his face, it was still a bit jarring, knowing just how easily it is to incur the wrath of these crazy monsters, how easily it could get people around you killed. But if you didn't see it..you turned a blind eye, most of the time.
Pierrot quickly wandered over and looked around for Harlequin before he seemed to recall the setting sun outside, knowing he was alone with you, he opened his mouth, and words spilled out. "My lady! Are you ok? Are the burns severe? I know Harlequin..helped, but-" there was a light snarl to his tone when speaking of how the green Harlequin got to help you first, his yellow heart eyes shifting into narrowed slits before he focused back on you, and they returned to normal.
"I'm alright, I'm cleaned up, the counter is clean..I just- want to close now." You sighed and scratched the back of your head, pouting slightly at the idea of walking back home in cold coffee covered clothes. "Hm, May I carry you back myself, My Lady? If We're quick, I'm sure I can make you something to eat before I'm required for my show." He grinned, the idea seeming enticing enough for him to tap his foot as he nodded.
Honestly, with these two around, you hardly have to worry about a thing..except murder, of course. "I like that Idea." You smiled, soft and gentle, and he responded with one that mirrors your own..though with such a possessive neediness in his eyes, it came off as a grin barely containing his excitement. "Let me turn off the lights and lock up before you get too excited." You teased and waved your hand at him in a shooing motion so he would wait by the door instead of hovering behind you.
"Yes, My lady..~" he grinned, sitting at the counter with his head in his hands and a sweet melty look on his face as you disappeared into the back to switch off the breakers and make sure all the machines were off. Once you had done just that, you stepped back out into the dark, sighing when you didn't see Pierrot by the door or where he was sitting by the counter. "Not funny, Sugar..I don't need a heart attack stacked on top of coffee stained work clothes!" You Hollard into the dark, letting out a sigh when no response came.
As hesitant as you were, you took slow steps through the cafe, using your phone light to see without bumping into tables, before looking back when you heard a floorboard behind you creak. "I'm so serious Pierrot if you jump out at me!" You warned as a shiver ran down your spine.
When you turn back to the door, getting the keys out of your pocket, Pierrot appears like an obedient dog, in the dark his heart eyes stand out like a fire against a dark backdrop, catching your attention enough to feel less scared. "Sorry, My lady.." he apologized, his head tilting to one side slightly, squinting for a second when you shined the light to see his face. "Do you guys get a real kick out of scaring me, huh?" You chuckled, shaking your head and opening the door.
"Get outta my cafe." You smiled and listened to his faint laughter nearly hidden by the jingle of the bells on his hat. You followed him out, locked the door, and sighed as the cold breeze hit your damp clothes, shivering for just a moment before the next when you were suddenly scooped into Pierrot's arms and held close to his chest. He stared down at you with a look that you had only seen in fluttering memories and foggy nightmares when you first met him.
You met his gaze, and felt your worries drift away, smiling at him, you had grown unbothered..or perhaps the better word would be accustomed to his lovesick, obsessive gaze. You reached up and held his cheek, tilting your head with a gentle look in your eyes, "Are you gonna stare at me all evening, Love?" You chuckled.
The nickname always caught him off guard, and always managed to send a slight shiver along his spine. "Sorry, I just can't help..but stare, when I have you so close to me~" You just shook your head and laid your head against his chest, sighing as you leeched off his warmth. He started walking, with his height, he was practically gliding along the sidewalk, his bells barely making a noise.
It was..almost tempting, to just fall asleep in his arms, you had grown so comfortable around both Pierrot and Harlequin that sleeping on them, with or around them, put you more at ease than sleeping alone. Sure.. sometimes they bickered, or Harlequin bickered, and Pierrot stubbornly held you close while glaring at Harlequin, but as long as they aren't fighting and killing each other while you laid in the middle, you hardly cared.
He glanced down at you frequently, his arms tight against you like he was resisting every urge to squeeze you 'till you popped, he noticed how you struggled to keep your eyes open, shivering slightly as your head drooped now and then. "Sleep, my lady..I will wake you when we reach your home." He whispered, leaning down to kiss the top of your head, you opened your eyes and looked at him, "You've convinced me.." you chuckled and flicked one of his bells near his shoulder before nuzzling into his chest again.
His heartbeat was always an odd thing to listen to, it didn't sound human, but also did, it was uncanny. Yet as eerie as it may appear, you just smiled, closed your eyes and nodded off in the safety of his arms and his warmth.
