When leading a life like this– even if it was a LUXURIOUS one, at that, should she really have expected it to be a PEACEFUL one?      A quiet, rather humorless, chuckle escaped him at that. Nobody     came to visit him unless they wanted something, and with the     fighting going on inside his house, he couldn't really fucking     blame them. Still, maybe it was luck that she caught him in a     rather indifferent mood. Michael sat himself up, adjusting the     sunglasses on his face as he felt the heat beating down on them     both.

    “You gotta find yourself some better friends, kid,” he muttered,     “Well, things are going absolutely peachy, as you can tell.     What brings you this way? Don't feed me that 'I just wanted to     see you' bullshit, either, we've met once.”

This is partially true. Now while The Boss really couldn’t be bothered to deal with the entire process of finding a retailer and spending god knows how long with someone who may or may not be insufferable, the other truth to that statement is that he really just wanted to bug Michael and size him up a little. See how a criminal like him (former or not) works. What makes him tick.

“Plus I’d rather trust you on showing me the town than somebody who’s gonna put up a front. Besides, I’ll make it up to you.”

     Yeah, I don't blame you.

     A bunch of money grabbers like the rest of the business people in      the fucking city, Michael knew them well. He was lucky he was      pretty content with his own home, considering packing up seemed      easier in comparison to house hunting at the moment. Which, of      course, made him want to roll his eyes at the idea of doing that for      someone else.

     He'd just met this guy, hadn't he?

     It wasn't like he was tied up with shit to do at the moment, but, well,      there were a thousand things he'd rather do.

     “If by making it up to me you mean paying me like the discount real      estate agent you'll be treating me like, I'll consider it.”
