an allegory as to why systems don't like endos.
Do you remember the whole stupid situation with tiktoks like TicsandRoses faking Tourette's? endos vs. systems is kind of like that.
only, imagine that, instead of faking Tourette's, a community came forward that 'identified' as having Tourette's. They didn't believe that they had any actual Tourette's symptoms, they did not have tics and they were fully aware of it. They CHOSE to make sudden movements, perhaps as stimming, but objectively, these movements are not tics.
imagine that this community took pride in 'choosing to tic'. They called it 'voluntary tics' and pushed activism to have their community recognised. They viewed it as a way that anyone could, and should be able to identify, even if the person KNEW and WAS ACCEPTING of the fact that they DO NOT HAVE A TIC DISORDER. Imagine that they viewed having 'voluntary tics' as equitable to being trans: they wanted to tic, so they should be allowed to.
Perhaps that wouldn't be so bad on its own. In a vacuum, it wouldn't hurt anyone.
But, of course, when these 'voluntary ticcers' start insisting that they should be included in communities of people with Tourette's, it makes people with the syndrome very uncomfortable. Even if the actual diagnosed people don't view the disorder as an overwhelming negative, some perhaps even seeing it as a positive thing, they feel very uncomfortable by a group claiming that they have an obligation to "share" having tics. Again, as if it were just something one could choose.
imagine that as a result, the public opinion largely becomes that Tourette's and tics are universally being faked. Anytime you're seen ticcing in public, you're accused of faking it for attention, and being a 'voluntary ticcer'. Neurotypicals with no psychiatric experience will come up to you on the street and harass you when you were minding your own business. While, simultaneously, the 'voluntary ticcer' community is harassing you for "excluding" them.
Imagine this scenario with autism - a group defining themselves as 'voluntarily' or 'endogenically' autistic. Not just for a lack of a diagnosis, but for the fact that they are fully aware that they do not have autism. Imagine it with BPD. With Bipolar. With Psychosis.
Now imagine it with DID and OSDD. You are successfully envisioning the endogenic system community.
The fact of the matter is that the situation is not one disabled group harassing another. It is one neurotypical group, who are aware that they are neurotypical, stating that they should be allowed to identify as neurodivergent, for no other reason other than that they want to.
