There are very few things in this world, in my opinion, that are more important than art. It's something that is constantly being created, even if you aren't aware of it. Thought turns to a small action: a word, a line on paper, a sweep of a paintbrush, a speech, a play, an epic poem, a mural on the side of a building. And, frankly, I can't bring myself to try to do anything else.
Obviously, I think it's so pretentious when someone says "oh, yes, I'm an artist. I create art." If it's something you're using to try to impress people or brag about, you've just negated it.
But what I'm saying is working your entire life to achieve goals that are monetary is absurd. Completely absurd. Money is such a poison...it was created as a system to try to simplify bartering and "trading a chicken for 2 bags of rice" or whatever. But it's been turned into a method to measure how one person is "richer" than another. But it's made up. It's just numbers, and numbers have just been made up.....they've all just been thought up and we've all accepted it because....well because that's what it's always been. We need a government because...well, uhhh, we've always had one. We need someone controlling and dictating what we're doing all the time because we've never existed just deciding things for ourselves. We don't know a society without money, or measurements....everything has to be measured, but why? Time, money, age, today, tomorrow, future, past. None of it actually exists. Time isn't anything but numbers.
Life and existence is just now.
The past doesn't exist anymore, the future isn't happening right now. It's always the present. So if you're living right now based on the past, or for the future...how are you ever even enjoying life at all?!?
A very wise person has told me that there's no reference point. There's no ultimate "beginning" or "end" it's just now and it always will be until we're dead. So stop striving for these vapid things like having the most money, having a perfect marriage and family and house and future...stop planning. Things are going to occur, and then other things will occur, thing will be in your theoretical "past" or "future" and you can choose to think about them and let them consume your life, but you'll realize that you won't actually be living at all.
