Things I have learned by joining the local Methodist Church’s coffee & knitting circle (where I am the only person under 60 years old):

Mrs. Jonson on the third pew won’t mind her own business, bless her heart. And she buys her pies pre-made for all the church functions.
Ways that women cheated the system in 1950s Texas to get into college and start careers. Including a memorable “He told me I wouldn’t last a week, but then 6 years later, I had to let him go because his production was way down.” *drinks sip of coffee*

And here it is! This crochet tempghan is finished at last (measuring 47" x 69"). Whew! Today I will launder it and then try for some casual photos to share with you. 🤗
Brief recap: ☘ Each mini-granny represents local temperatures for a day (inner color for overnight low and outer for daytime high). ☘ A connect-as-you-go technique for the squares resulted in a fabric that is very pliable despite its dense appearance. ☘ The edging was worked as a seed stitch (sc, ch) along three sides. The ‘index’ side was worked [seed stitch down, turn and double up, turn and seed stitch back down] to increase the width for a more comfy proportion and to provide an easy reference for the temp colors.
I basically made up the pattern as I went but will try to post the general info soon. Please feel welcome to ask if you have specific questions in the meantime. 🙄

My Little Pony: FiM crochet pattern - Christmas hats, scarves and boots!
I don’t really post many My Little Pony related items here, but I feel this one is necessary. I’m a crocheter, and last year decided to spice up my cubicle with a pony winter wonderland.
So I created these patterns! You can find them on Ravelry HERE if you would like to add them to your queue :) I’m posting it here because my old pony blog is defunct now.
For this project, I recommend using hook F5.
For the main yarn, I highly recommend using Red Heart Shimmer, as I have exclusively used it. It is flexible and fits tightly together, to allow for it to fit on brushable My Little Ponies. For trim, suggested yarns are Red Heart Buttercup, Bernat Pipsqueak, or Bernat Boa. Any fuzzy yarn could be really great though!
Hat: 1: Chain 18 and join into round 2: sc 18 in round 3: sc 2, ch 4, count 4 st and re-attach, sc 4, ch 4, count 4 and re-attach, sc 2 4: 18 sc 5: sc 2tog, sc 1 * 6 times 6: sc 12 * 2 times 7: sc 4, sc 2 tog * 2 times 8: sc 10 9: sc 3, sc2tog * 2 times 10: sc 8 join trim color 11-12: sc 8 13: sc2tog * 4 times 14: Slip stitch until hat is closed
Close and sew yarn into hat. If you want the hat to fold over, use the end of the main color to sew it in to place and hold it down. Hat, bottom trim: Join at original starting area 1: sc 18 (If making the hat for a unicorn, sc 8, chain 2 and re-attach 2 st later, sc 8) Depending on the yarn you’re using for trim, you may want to add another row of 18. With Bernat Pipsqueak, I do. Scarf: 1: ch 25 2: ch 1, turn, dc 25 3: ch 1, turn, ch 6 and reattach at end of 6th st, sc 19 Finish and sew ends in (The scarf works to stay in place by the opposite end looping through the loop created by the chaining, as seen in the picture below)
Scarf Trim on both sides: Attach at end of scarf 1: sc 4 2: ch 1, turn, sc 4 cut and sew in ends Repeat for other end of scarf
Front boots: 1: magic loop sc 9 2-4: sc 9 in outer loop cut and sew in ends Back boots: 1: magic loop sc 10 2-4: sc 10 in outer loop cut and sew in ends
I’d love to see anyone’s pattern if they use it! Please refrain from selling items made from it, but otherwise…be creative!

Crocheted Twilight Sparkle a cape dress thing... my 3 year old loved it! I think it's safe to say she's obsessed. Now she wants dresses for all of her other ponies.
I’m working on a sock pattern for Ryan to catch up on some Christmas knitting that was promised to him but not effectively yet delivered. (whoops…) So in the mean time I will post something really quick and simple from a few years ago that I never made into a pattern. It also seems appropriate to post something warm to keep the cold off your neck since it’s decided to snow tonight!
Here’s a quick little cowl pattern I whipped up a while ago in 2012. I got this amazing yarn at one of the Lovelyarns’ Yarn parties and it was so squishy and delightful I had to make a cowl up with it. The great thing about this cowl is it’s long enough to double up around your neck thickly and it’s reversible so the other-side looks great too. The chart is above in the pictures so use that as your guide. I will explain how below.
Fluff Edge Cowl
Needles: US15/10mm 24" circular needle
Yarn: 2 skeins (212 yards) Dancing Leaf Farm Boogie Woogie Superwash in colorway Gypsy Rose
For the chart above; the cowl is knit in the round so you are always facing the front of the work even though it’s reversible. The chart is read from right to left, starting with row 1 at the bottom of the chart. I repeated the chart 2.5 times which was basically until I ran out of yarn, so if you have more yardage feel free to keep going!
pink squares: purl
grey squares: knit
Cast on 99 stitches, join in round, place marker at the beginning of your round and be careful not to twist your work.
Follow the chart as indicated above. The chart should repeat 9 times over one round. When you have achieved your desired height of cowl or reached the end of your yardage bind of and weave in your ends.
I made a cactus! Free crochet pattern on Ravelry, and there’s a knitting one too at the bottom.
It’s gonna be a pin cushion

Just arm-knit a blanket in 40 minutes! I'm kinda proud of it. I've never done this before so... It's just the perfect size for me to curl up under and it's nice and heavy. Not perfect but good!

Improve Your Knitting: 30 Days to Better Knitting
After having answered the very same questions about a hundred times (some even more), I think it’s time to create a blog series about knitting techniques which provides answers to the most frequent questions about knitting techniques: 31 Days To Better Knitting.
Question! Does anyone knit socks, mittens, and/or gloves on circular needles? I cannot for the life of me figure out double pointed needles but I'd love to make socks and such. Anyone?
