Psychoanalysis time. Where better to be vulnerable than your niche fetish blog?

So, here's the thing: this fetish is very entwined with sadomasochism for me, with sneezing being a very subby thing to do. Other people sneezing is hot, and making someone else sneeze during sex is hot...but I'm heavily sub-leaning, and the idea of someone else forcing me to sneeze is so dreamy that I spaced out for a sec while trying to finish this sentence.

The fictional women I'm interested in? They're intimidating. They're probably mean, or full-on cruel. They often have villain or antagonist qualities. I want them to destroy me, and they could with ease. I don't want them taken down a level—I want them to take me down a level. Multiple levels, even. Please. (The only exception to this I can think of is Moira O'Deorain for some reason, and even then, I want it both ways.)

The fictional men I'm interested in? They usually have either "who invited this guy" energy and/or "why was I invited" energy. Other common traits include repression and complex trauma. If they haven't hit rock bottom yet, they're on their way :) They've suffered and I want them to suffer even more. I think my disinterest in being involved with men also makes me less picky, leading to a wider pool.

This is specifically about sneeze fetish fanworks, mostly fic. My tastes outside this fetish are broader (though still with noticeable biases) and with a few exceptions, I'm generally disinterested in developed OCs. It feels notable that none of my own OC development attempts have been men, though, even if I've basically scrapped them all.

Anyway! This has been a good revelation to have. I think my overall fanfic biases might be worth pondering a bit, because thinking critically about why you enjoy things is healthy even if it doesn't end up changing anything, but that'd be another post.

love when someone's allergies haunt the narrative. like even when they aren't the focus their allergies will still get a shout out somehow, whether it's comparison to something happening to someone else, a mention of being mindful when choosing flowers to get them or places to go together, a description of antihistamines or masks or tissues on their nightstand or countertop... you will not be forgetting this person gets hay fever even when it's completely dormant

I think we're sleeping on those heat rubs for muscle/joint pain. Some of those smell really strong, like vicks on steroids. Not only that, but in my experience, the scent feels like it both lingers forever and transfers to everything it touches. If someone was especially sensitive, they might have to think long and hard about whether whatever pain they're in is worth the risk of sneezing for...well, who knows how long? And imagine the whump potential if they don't expect to have a reaction. Like, oh, your back hurts? Wouldn't it suck to have a sneezing fit right now?

This is also fun if the sensitive one is actually applying it for someone else, especially if it's someone they'll be around for a while afterwards. They're gonna put themselves through all that just to help someone feel better.

Saw someone on reddit say that they are so badly photic that the reflection of light off a white sheet hanging out to dry is enough to set them off sneezing.

I never knew I needed this, but all of a sudden all of my comfort characters have this. And line dry their laundry (I've been informed this isn't as common as it is in Australia).
