Halo Headcannons
Just some thoughts about my fav WSO and her interactions with her fellow airmen ❤️
She's Omaha's wingman (no pun intended) because even though he's fine as hell, he's horrible at flirting with women. She was ecstatic when he finally asked out the nuclear engineer she befriended on an aircraft carrier.
She loves playing bartender. She first started making mocktails, but progressed into more advanced alcoholic drinks. She eventually got her liquor license and is the only pilot Penny allows behind the bar.
Her Mandarin sometimes slips into her English subconsciously. It's mostly a lot of 哎呀 (āiyā, kinda like a sigh of frustration). She says it for any level of inconvenience, whether it be dropping her pen or when Omaha decides to invert the plane unannounced 🙄
She can literally fall asleep anywhere. If you gave her a blanket and a pillow, she could probably fall asleep on the tarmac.
When Halo brought Fritz and Yale home for Lunar New Year, her family instantly instantly hit it off with them. Even the aunties tried to set them up with their daughters.
She has a really good singing voice that carries and is Rooster's go-to duet partner when he's playing a song on the piano with two singing parts.
Her vision corrects to 20/20 with contacts, but she sometimes uses her glasses if her eyes are irritated. She loves her glasses because she deliberately chose the chunkiest pair the store had (think 1980s plastic square frame glasses).
She regularly quotes sci-fi movies, even if no one understands the references. Fanboy was so excited when he realized she was also a Trekkie.
There's a soundtrack playing in her head 24/7. Sometimes she'll just randomly bop her head and tap her pen to whatever she's jamming out to in her mind.
Her favorite pair of sunglasses were picked out by Phoenix at a gas station in Lemoore. She got them matching ones in different colors.
She usually doesn't lie, but when she does, you can tell because she scrunches her nose (it's adorable)

the biggest issue with all of this isn’t just the offensive nature of the original post, it’s the way that you handled this situation terribly. turning off ways of confrontation after throwing a tantrum of excuses instead of being levelheaded just proves that.
if you’re so far up on your privileged pedestal to not see these stereotypes and aggressions in non-american settings or refuse to acknowledge them in the american media that you so obviously consume then kudos to you love. that’s not even an assumption I gotta make if you lay it out flat.
seeing little things like that og post pop up on feeds for every character rep for our community is a worn exhaustion and the comments you made in your defense were just plain upsetting. not to ‘make it about race’ or anything (cause god forbid we hear that one again) but the excuse that you can easily make one of the white aviators a drug dealer too is just so empty. you chose the sole latino character and out it out there, subconscious telling you or not, and we said hey that’s a blow we don’t care for nor really approve cause that’s all we’ve seen of our characters, and all you had to do was you acknowledged the fact that we took offence to it. not discredit our opinions. not alienate our experience. at the end of the day it wasn’t your place to tell us what not to be offended by, plain and simple. just take it or leave it.
Top Gun: Maverick & Inception Fusion
Hello and welcome to the Top Gun: Maverick/Inception fusion (#tgminception)! This spawned as an idea in the TG:M discord and I’m very excited to share it.
How it works:
Sign up for the fusion. After sign-ups are closed, invitations to an Ao3 collection will be sent to participants. There are six prompts– one scenario dreamed up in the TG:M discord, and five general prompts for you to work with. You can write something for one prompt or all six!
The prompt list can be found in the graphics of this post or here. The character list does not have to be adhered to but was a general idea of each character’s counterpart in the other universe.
You will have one month to write with a minimum word count of 1,000 words. Art is also more than welcome!! Sign-up is available until August 5th and works are due on September 5th. If it’s taking longer for any reason, or if you need to drop out, please reach out.

Maverick climbing out of the window and running into Amelia downstairs
The darts scene
Hangman, Coyote, and Payback throwing Maverick out of the Hard Deck and then their reaction to him walking into the meeting next morning
Phoenix flipping the bird to Hangman in the same scene
Maverick having a photo of Goose flipping the bird on the door of his locker
Which makes me think of Rooster as a child seeing that picture and posing like that on photos outraging everyone else, being unaware that it's actually offensive
Of course, both Carole and Maverick kept a photo of it
