For the first time ever, I will be opening commissions!

Have you ever been conked on the head by joy? Well, it turns out I hadn't been, but over the holidays, it got me real good. It's time for me to make some changes, starting with top surgery and ending with a life I no longer need to grow against.

also, spoilers under the cut but as i was watching the localization credits (as one does) something did stand out. the turkish credits list a few voice actors for characters who haven't shown up yet. some interesting inclusions.

Astrid told me the enemies of the Empire keep killing their Brens so I asked how many Brens they have and she said their teacher just goes to the academy and gets a new Bren afterwards so I said it sounds like he’s just feeding Brens to their enemies and then Eadwulf started crying.

having watched the mighty nein episodes I’m struck by how slow they’re taking the pace. it’s a surprise! vox machina felt fast, felt condensed, but tmn is luxuriating in it, eating up the backstory, dropping those little easter eggs. that nice long sparring sequence with vandran, the breaths taken as the flame sparks and frumpkin steps into the world. I was honestly expecting the show to get to the brenattos this season, maybe close off with them setting off for xhorhas, but now I’m not sure they’re even going to leave zadash. which is fun, it’s delightful, it’s also a huge risk. plotting for more seasons means more chances to get cancelled means more chances you’re going to leave things on a nasty note. this slow and steady pace suggests either a lot of confidence in their show’s longevity (and amazon is not super trustworthy) or it means that they didn’t see any other way to tell the story genuinely.

Circling back around to this now that I've seen the first three episodes of Mighty Nein animated and oh I am actually obsessed with how much of this just straight up feels like a cold war spy thriller through a high fantasy lens.
