Kanda had heard someone singing, and it had disturbed his meditation. Ready to attempt to tell them how important his meditation is, he marched off in the direction of the voice. And then, he heard the song.
Almost instantly, memories came back to him.
“I love you, Yu”
“I love you, ___”
His head and heart hurting, he turned away, trying to compose himself.
After a few minutes of not looking at the kid and ignoring him, he turned around. Feeling a bit better, he decided he should at least say something to distract the kid from…. well, something that hadn’t happened in a long time.
“You know French?”
Normally, Coffee didn’t sing love songs. Or… really any songs, at least not in a building where any number of people could stumble onto him. But lately, he’d been… fairly upset. So he’d indulged a bit, and damned the consequences. He’d kind of been hoping not to be found, so when he heard somebody speak - heard Kanda speak - he jumped, though only slightly.
“Yyyes and no. I personally don’t technically know it, but Arsene - my… personal, persona, has his origins in a character from a series of french books, so he knows french.” A half-smirk, as Coffee continued to lounge atop the bookshelf. “He lets me borrow the language from him sometimes. Usually only to sing. The ass. Better than not letting me use the language at all, though.” Then, Coffee paused, and looked at Kanda.
He seemed… not altogether pleased. At him? At the singing? Certainly bothered by something.
“Did I disturb you? I didn’t think anyone was around - I’m sorry.” Nowhere was safe, it seemed. Whoops. “I can go somewhere else, if you were trying to be alone.”
"It's fine kid. I'm not mad."
Kanda thought for a moment, thinking on how to word this delicately.
"I.... used to have someone I cared about. It's a long story, but... your song just reminded me of them."
Kanda looked down sadly, thinking for a moment.
"I didn't mean to bother you. I'm sorry. You're a good kid Coffee. You can sing more if you want."
