A 3.2 isn’t taking dancers with the highest GPA and top of their class. USC puts a lot into the composition of the class and creating the cohort each year. They make sure the class is very well rounded and diverse. You can be strong in hip hop but not ballet and get in and vice versa.
yeah, like i said in my post gpas are on a 4 unweighted and 5 weighted scale so a 3.2 isn’t the highest gpa a dancer could have….what are you even asking me im confused 😭
It’s actually very rare to double major at Kaufman. In its 10 year history, 2 students maybe 3 after this past year have double majored.

What kinda dancer gets into USC? Like good at ballet/modern, super versatile, comp kids, etc?
honestly it depends, each dancer has their own strengths. some are really into ballet, other contemp/modern, and other are commercial heavy! they all have to take a certain amount of ballet hours and contemp/modern and possibly african dance? im not sure abt that one but i know a lot of them take it 😭
I guess it just proves that dance isn’t everything and you need to keep up your academics
well this is also because usc isn’t an arts school and even the dancers/art students have to take regular classes/gen eds. a lot of them also double major
Kaufman did not accept the kids with the highest GPA this year. You have to have a 3.2 to get into Kaufman.
yeah so 3.2 is the minimum….gpas are on a 4/5 scale babes

say what you want about club but one thing they know how to do is get some content
on the topic of college now who do you think will end up at usc in the next few years? i know plenty of socal dancers are vying for those spots
lowkey not a lot of them because they dont have the grades to back it up 😭 what happened this year is that everyone who tried out was amazing so the took the kids that had the highest gpas and were top of their class because they could handle the rigor
i go to usc and I have a few friends in Kaufman and it’s actually impressive how smart so many of these dance students are! a lot of the students who major in dance are also double majored with something else but it’s just especially impressive bc the time commitment of Kaufman is exhausting lol

in what instances is it ok to change studios mid-season? most dancers hate it because of the inconvenience but what situations do you think are justified?
if someone is moving across states/it’s too hard to commute, illness or injury, or if like something really really bad happened
