Social Etiquette Rule #42
Picking your nose while driving, while walking, in class, or anywhere in public is just a big
N.O.
Social Etiquette Rule #whatever
This was the first social etiquette blog before all the other ones.
Social Etiquette Rule #32
Drink to be social and conversational. There is nothing wrong with having a drink or two when mingling with other people at a bar or restaurant, but when you are getting shit faced and no one else is then you are just making an ass out of yourself. I guess that follows the rule in life that nothing in excess is good. That rule definitely applies to alcohol. A small amount that gives you a slight buzz is totally fine and dandy, but getting wasted and blacking out is way over the top. If you can't remember what happened that night then you probably drank a little bit too much.
There is a time and place for getting shit faced and that is called a kick back or party where everyone is doing it, then there is a time and place where you socially drink like at a bar or restaurant.
Social Etiquette Rule #53
If you are going to bail out of preset plans then be courteous enough and give that person enough time to figure out an alternative plan.
Example: You and a group of friends are planning to all hangout and you are the driver so they are depending on you and all of a sudden one hour before you are all planning on meeting up you have some imaginary issue that comes up. Now everyone is stranded and doesn't have a way to get anywhere. If you told them 4 hours earlier that you couldnt make it then at least that would have given them time to figure an alternative plan out.
Give people enough time to make new plans if you are going to bail on them. Be a little bit more considerate to others and not just think of your own self.
Social Etiquette Rule #100
This rule has to do with flags. Yes, flags. You may not think much of flags, but I find it to be a huge issue.
No matter what country you are in you should respect that country, even if you may not agree with everything in that country. Why even bother immigrating or going to another country all together with the intentions of pissing on it and appreciating where you came from more? I am 100% for people respecting where they came from, but to me, when you move to one country and still raise your old country's flag without the current country's flag next to it then you are just being rude, disrespectful, and unappreciative.
A common example: Many Hispanics in the Los Angeles area raise only the Mexican flag or whichever other country they are from and not the American flag. Please, no one begged you to come to America so if you can't respect America enough to at least raise both flags then just leave. I get you have pride for where you come from and that is totally acceptable, but when you have pride for only where you came from and not where you are then you are just a disrespectful immigrant that doesn't appreciate the country you are in. If you love Mexico, Vietnam, Cuba, Japan, China, Canada, Italy, Russia, Germany, France, or any other country, then please just go back to that country since you love it so much.
Social Etiquette Rule #140
This is the internet. Why do some of you feel it necessary to 1. lie about your identity 2. act like you are a totally different person 3. act pretentious and try making everyone believe you are something that you are not? The likelihood of you even meeting people from here is slim, so why bother with all the effort to fake who you are? Obviously you have too much time on your hands and you have a slight mental issue.
Social Etiquette Rule #69
It's not cute being a slut and always talking about your sex life. Have a little class. Have a little self respect.
Social Etiquette Rule #63
"Rude, get off your phone."
Let's say you go to a fast food place or anywhere that you have to come in face to face contact with a merchant and you're on your cell phone. The correct thing to do is say, "Hey, hold one second," or "Hey, let me call you back really quick," to the person that you are talking to on the phone. Don't just stand there rudely in front of the merchant yakking on your phone and expect them to give you good service when you are too rude to even get off your stupid phone.
Social Etiquette Rule #52
If you're the one initiating to plan a get together then you should not be the one to bail. Don't make plans and then all of a sudden bail. Not only does that make you look like a complete jackass, but it sucks for the person that now has to find a plan B. Of course if you have a legitimate reason then that is alright, but if you make dinner plans with friends and all of a sudden you can't make it because "you don't have gas" then you just fail at life.
Social Etiquette Rule #31
When you are in a group it is wise that you are not the only one drinking. No one wants to babysit a full grown person as if they are some child because they are intoxicated. It is socially acceptable if one or more other people in the group are drinking because that is being social, but when you are the lonely alcoholic getting wasted amongst your sober friends then it just looks bad on yourself.
Driving Etiquette Rule #5
When driving on a highway/freeway and you want to go slow or the speed limit then please get over to the slow lane. In the slow lane you can go whatever slow speed you want, of course if you go too slow you can get a ticket, but that is another topic. Get out of the way if you see someone approaching you from behind. It is only polite as a driver to get over and allow that person to go pass you, even if they are speeding. If you say, "Well that person is speeding so he can go around me or just stay behind me and follow the speed limit," then you are being a jackass and rude. That is the other driver's prerogative to go over the speed limit. You are not the traffic police, so it is better to avoid a rear-end collision and just get out of that persons way.
The most annoying thing ever is when the freeway is wide open yet you choose to go 60 in the fast lane when the speed is clearly 65. Ugh, just hand over your driver's license and take the bus if you are that inconsiderate and dumb.
Driving etiquette
I am going to start a whole new section of etiquette for driving because I feel that rules of driving don't really fall under "social etiquette." I'll make it more specific and make up an entirely new category of "driving etiquette" because there is numerous rules I can come up with that annoy me on a daily basis while driving.
Sorry for not posting!
I have been so busy with classes and I am finally finishing my finals for my winter quarter. I will be sure to make some new etiquette posts soon! Thanks for sticking around and I hope all of you are still enjoying the blog.
Thanks!

Social Etiquette Rule #20
100percenthipster:
Take responsibility for your children. If you have children and take them out to a restaurant or any other type of public gathering area, then make sure you have a well mannered and behaved child. Don’t let your rugrat run wild and cause havoc. It not only looks bad on you as a parent, but that will just allow a cycle of misbehaving children for the future. Teach a child responsibilities when they are young so when they are older they can be better individuals when they are grown up.
Forgive me for noticing, but it seems counter-productive to deliver social etiquette suggestions when saying things like "farm animals are more civilized than you." Isn't belittling people going against a social nicety? Shouldn't we build up rather than tearing down?
I get what you are saying, but I don't agree. Sometimes one needs to be blunt and not sugar coat things to get a point across. I'm pretty sure calling a person that chews openly with his/her mouth full of food will not be the least bit "offended" by being calling a farm animal (if they don't want to be called a farm animal they can learn some table manners first)
Social Etiquette Rule #45
Close your mouth when you chew food. Farm animals are more civilized than you.
