52 Weeks of Socks, vol. 1: Sock Challenge Master List
Putting together the master list of the patterns from the first volume of 52 Weeks of Socks by Laine for my sock knitting challenge to knit every pattern from both volumes. I'm starting with the first one, not going in any particular order, just going on vibes.
The list of patterns is alphabetical, not the order that the patterns appear in the first volume. There will be a second master list for the second volume. I'll be posting it once I've completed the patterns in the first volume.

It’s pattern release day for the Tiny Mushrooms socks!
Tiny mushrooms speckle the forest, hiding away in fallen trees, gaps in roots, and damp soil. Some are friendly and edible, others mischievous and poisonous. The ruffles on the Tiny Mushrooms socks mimic the caps on these natural wonders, with button stitch bobbles mimicking wee scales.
I knit mine up with Hue Loco's Merino Sock in the colourway Ash.

Bright red socks are Rose City Rollers, made with Drops Nord. They're a Christmas gift for my grandma. The other pair are a pair of work socks knit with Gazzal Happy Feet in Tuscan Sun for my dad (heels and toes were done with Sisu).
Dendrobates azureus, or South American blue poison dart frog, thrives in humid, lowland tropical forests, often near streams or small bodies of water. More frog information is available for free in the listing and you can just read it then navigate away if you are interested in wildlife.
My current project is Regia Pairfect socks. I’ve been wanting to try this type of yarn for a while, and I’m finally getting to it. The socks are for my dad, and I’m a little worried about getting the size right.
“Sunflower” on eco sock is the perfect warm weather eye candy. Eco sock is a more environmentally conscious non-superwash non-nylon option spun from 80% merino wool and 80% linen. This colourway is also available on other yarn bases.
So at the beginning of this week, I kind of decided that the part of knitting that is actually appealing* is finishing things, plus if I finished some socks I’d have new socks, so I finished up a couple of pairs of socks I had around (both stuck at about the heel-turn of the first sock; I’d moved the grey pair from the heel turn to the second sock last time I got ambitious) and another project pod. Finishing things to wear immediately is great; I want to do this all the time.
*Although, I mean, the specific example I was thinking of was that tiktok cardigan older guy, and I think it is valid to say that the skill/accomplishment would not come across if there were no finished sweater to cut to while maintaining the dramatic intensity of the Look, but it has also crossed my mind that most of you know exactly what I am referring to with “tiktok cardigan older guy” and it would be pretty funny to do a parody where you employ the same intense eye-contact with the camera, hold up your skeins, and then cut to like, you in the same pose looking hapless in a pullover that ends right under the arms because that’s where you’d solved all the interesting neck/shoulder/armscye problems and got bored and simultaneously intimidated by the idea of grading a finished piece to multiple sizes. Anyway, all of this is to say that I definitely wanted to say “the sexy part of knitting” and couldn’t bring myself to. Let’s not speak of it. Hey great news, I got new socks!
A new batch of Magpie so it is back in stock for @thewoolmontyshow on the 8th & 9th June. I am working extra hard just now as I am writing my dissertation this summer so I have to earn enough to get me through that period.
I created the Spring Breeze knitting pattern as an ode to that first warm day where the threat of snow finally seemed to be gone. And the weather is certainly make me wonder if today is that day!
Finished a pair of socks today! Pattern is Adorable Ankle Socks (free on Ravelry). I used Malabrigo Sock in the colourway Impressionist Sky and Woolike in white for the heels and toes.
Started these back in March 2023, finally finished them today. They're for my mom.
Finally finished these socks that I started in probably december. So glad I can start on a different pair. As a treat it'll be a pair with no color work I think.
