Art Post!

Been a while since I posted some art. Here is a sewn canvas I did a while ago. It too FOREVER with all the measuring. But I'm really chuffed with how it came out :)

Eugene Quilt Show

This particular quilt caught my eye.

The leaves are hand printed - original linocut on fabric. Then I painted them with Tsukineko ink to get an ombre effect insides the leaves. The leaves and stems were attached by machine applique to a Hoffman Super Nova panel. My mom loved caladiums (and quilting) and so do I!

I love thinking about yarn amounts in terms of practical distance. The cardigan I'm knitting will use 1,200 yards of yarn in 10 skeins. That's the length of 12 football fields, or close to 3/4 of a mile of yarn laid straight. I also think it's funny how small it gets compressed down to when wound into a skein, so that all 10 can fit in a shopping bag. When I tell non-knitters all this it makes their heads explode

being an everything crafter is great but also sucks. like i want to get my watercolors out but i need to put away my microcrochet first. i want to do some leatherwork but my oil paints are on the table. i want to whittle but i'm using the bucket i catch wood shavings in to hold my papermaking mush. i want to write my book but my hands are too busy knitting a sweater. i want to code another video game but i'm too busy studying nalebinding. do you see my problem. the problem is that i need more hands

Was delighted to give my mom her Mother's Day gift early! It's my first embroidery project, and is a map of her life as told by the state flowers of where she's lived. I had to learn 3 new stitches for this 😭

Scriptorium cat collection is now in my shop!!! With criossanna (trad Irish belts), bookmarks, and patches inspired by the medieval Irish poem Pangur Bán and the inky cat paws left on medieval manuscripts. The pattern using the pick up weaving method is also available!

Finished a pick-up band with some hand dyed gradient cotton. Not sure what I want to do with it yet though...

Another update to this project! In the last update I said I would transition the red pattern into orange towards the top, so here are the pics!

I decided on a slightly gradual transition by adding some more red horizontal lines before switching to orange entirely.

Next step is going to be finishing the grid lines on the other leg, and then covering it with green and (orange, yellow or red?) rice stitch.
