Catriona slung her bag over her shoulder as she finished packing it up. ‘’Personal?’’ Cat questioned raising an eyebrow at her. ‘’Okay, I’ll bite.’’ she said as they walked out of the library into the halls.
‘‘How am I?’‘ Cat echoed, with a confused tone. ‘‘I’m very well thank you? Obviously what’s going on right now sucks and it’s really shitty, but I’m lucky that it’s not affecting me on a personal level. My Dad works in the department of mysteries, he just keeps to himself.’‘ she shrugged before turning to Sofia. ‘‘How are you? I know your family are all ministry workers, that must be pretty hard for you?’‘ she asked sincerely.
There were a lot of unused corridors in Hogwarts, so Cat lead them there, sitting down on a window sil, down an abandoned corridor which as far as she could see didn’t actually lead anywhere. She wasn’t really sure what Sofia was wanting, but if she wanted to talk to someone Cat was more than happy to listen to her. ‘’What’s on your mind?’’ She asked, eyeing Sofia’s expression. ‘’You look deep in thought.’’
“The Department of Mysteries? That’s neat,” Sof raised an eyebrow. She nodded at the girl’s question. “Yeah - most of them at least. Dad works for the Daily Prophet, but he’s the odd one out.” She, too, shrugged. “They’re all safe, at least. Just busy. My mum said that things at the Ministry are just chaos right now.” Even with Potter and Weasley returned, the Ministry was in a panic. Her Aunt Megan had collapsed from exhaustion a couple days ago, according to the daily owls she was getting from her parents. The Prophet was similarly busy. News outlets always profited from chaos.
she sat across from Cat, still unsure of how to bring it up. Eventually, she just asked, so Sofia took a breath, and smiled bashfully.
“I think...I’m your twin sister?”
Without pausing to give the other girl an opportunity to say anything, Fia nervously began babbling. “I found this, this letter, over the summer, see? And then I - well I asked my mum first, but she kinda just; well, she shut me down i guess, so I started investigating myself - my father taught me the basics of investigation when i was young, and it wasn’t hard - just searching through old records, and owling people, and a few simple spells - though one was a bit of magic that was decently advanced, i suppose. Oh, and I had to interview someone during a Hogsmede weekend - but that’s not important. I found records, of our mother, and our birth certificates. we’re sisters.” she thrust Cat both birth certificates, twisting her sleeves in her hands nervously.
