I don't get it. Ever since time began after the Sundering, ALL Ashkari in Dannemore were all "Goddess this, Goddess that", but when Lin, revealed to be the REAL Goddess reborn, the Maraham EXILE her?! JUST BECAUSE THEY CLAIM THAT THE MAGIC IN THE SOURCE-STONE IS CORRUPT OR WHATEVER?! AFTER THEY MADE HER HEAL MARIAM (hooray for that, btw. Mari's free)?! WTF?!
Anyone else have the problem of having to put down a book for days, weeks, months at a time because youโre too invested in it and youโre scared about whatโs going to happen? Or if not having to set it aside completely, at least having to slow waaay down because youโre this:
After the ending of The Ragpicker King I better not see yall slandering Conor and Kel's friendship calling it brainwashing
Despite being given undeniable evidence and the testimony of more than 40 people, Conor still chose to believe in Kel. Despite being told by multiple people not trust even his family and only trust the evidence of his eyes and ears, and all the evidence pointing against Kel, he chose to commit what were probably a dozen crimes just so that Kel would have a chance at freedom.
I'm not denying Conor is an ass sometimes and Kel's life is unfair but when all is said and done these two love each other with all their heart and trust each other completely, and would go to the end of the world for each other.
I swear over every deity, if you like shadowhunters and you like cassandra's work you should TOTALLY read Sword Catcher. It's simply a really good book with a really good plot
I am not feeling the sparks for Kel and Antonetta, maybe the future books will change my mind but so far the first two haven't really made me feel things for them.
I think that Laurent Aden, the privateer that Anjelica ran away with, is Cas, Kel's friend from the Orfelinat. Here are the reasons why:
Their descriptions match! In Sword Catcher prologue, Cas was described to have blonde hair, blue eyes, and freckles. We learn in Ragpicker King that he has blonde hair & blue eyes.
Laurent states that Castellane is "the place of his birth" during his POV.
The only times Kel thinks of Cas during Ragpicker King is when he's thinking of Laurent Aden and reminisces on how he and Cas wanted to be pirates when they were young.
Kel never sees Laurent up close/face-to-face. He sees him in person at the Solstice Ball but Laurent has a mask on his face, and Kel is far away from him. The single time they interact is when Kel is in Anjelica's room trying to convince her to not leave and Kel hears Laurent speak out the window. They never see each other but...Kel RECOGNIZES HIS VOICE, saying his voice was oddly familiar but he couldn't place it. He thinks that maybe he heard his voice at the Solstice Ball, but they weren't even in the vicinity of one another. This is the biggest piece of evidence that Laurent is Cas.
In the final scene with Laurent waiting outside for Anjelica, Laurent literally says to her that she should tell Kel that he needs to get out of here and that there's enough room on Sedai for Kel to escape with them. He obviously knows who Kel is and wants him to escape with them and live.
Maybe I am spending too much time trying to make Cas exist in this series, but I am CONFIDENT that Laurent is Cas. All these things line up too well.
