SYPNOSIS: Love is something you'd never thought you'd experience, especially in the world you were born into, where life is less than a guarantee. But now, as you walk down the aisle, tears in your eyes and a diamond on your finger, the thought couldn't be any more distant.

The concept of marriage was something that always seemed so foreign to you. A joint union of two people, in love, ready to join their lives together until death do they part.
Itâs not as if the concept of love itself was something foreign to youâ no. Youâd experienced love in your life; With your family, the people whoâd been with you since youâd spoken your first word, taken your first breath. With your friends, the family you chose to make the greatest memories with. Every day leading to when a perfectly wrapped diploma was placed in your hands at graduation. It was light in your hands, but heavier in your heart, a testament of all the effort and sweat youâd put into your education as a child.
So while youâve experienced love, you felt no desire to search for more. Itâs not like you needed to, anyway. All the joy your life could ever require was already being given to you by the people you surrounded yourself with.
Even so, itâs not that the thought of romantic love never crossed your mind, far from it actually. You'd had childish crushes growing up, finding yourself wanting a boyfriend sometimes. It was a passing thought mostly. You would find yourself daydreaming about the prince promised in the media you consumed in the earliest years of your life. But, when you saw how many people your age were so ready to get into relationships, it put you off. You were content with what you already had. What would dating change about your life? It was wishful thinking at best.
There was always the what ifâs lingering in the farthest corner of your mind. But, with the world youâd been born into. It was extremely difficult to grow emotionally attached to anyone on that level.Â
So when you met Yuta, it wasnât something youâd expected to grow into something more.
Heâd just transferred to Jujutsu High, anxious and at the lowest point of his life, burdened by a curse heâd unknowingly created. When Gojo introduced him, you were obviously on edge, but there was something about him you couldnât ignore. You couldnât remember the last time youâd seen someone so ready to give up.
You gave him a half smile, strolling beside him as you personally introduced yourself. âIts nice to meet you, Yuta. Donât be too nervous, youâre welcome here.â His face was pulled tight, brows furrowed and lip tugged in between his teeth. Your eyes glanced down at his fingers that fiddled together, a tell-tale sign of his anxiousness. âI promise.â
Not that you wanted to be some type of savior, but you could relate to him on some level.
As he got more familiar with everyone, you began getting closer. The two of you would find yourselves training with one another more often than not, since he wanted to improve, after all.
What you noticed quickly, was that his sheer presence was overwhelming, but somehow even magnetising. Even if he couldnât sense it. Every time he walked in a room, you found yourself getting up to start a conversation with him every chance you got. It was almost as if his existence itself was a sun you couldnât help but revolve around.
From there, feelings started to grow between the two of you. Not that you would say though, they were complicated emotions you were still trying to figure out for yourself. The way he would rub the back of his neck when he was embarrassed, tap his leg when he was anxious, look up at the ceiling when he rambled on about whatever he was fixated on at the moment.Â
No matter how much your heart swelled from his every action, you would never say anything. Not only because of your lack of experience in romance, but because of everything the boy was going through. He was working his hardest to free Rika, and that was a priority.
So some time after Rika was freed, you obviously didnât expect Yuta to be standing outside your door, asking to go on a walk around campus.
Heâd led you to a small spot by a tree, a blanket laid down underneath it on the pointy grass. Heâd guided you to sit next to him, smoothing out the blanket once more as you fully seated yourself. Slowly, he began to talk. The conversation quickly turned into you both laughing about nothing.Â
Your voice was the only thing that could be heard as you giggled at an inside joke you shared, slapping lightly at your leg and leaning down as you tried to fix your face while failing miserably. His eyes were trained on yours, voice soft as he spoke. âYouâre so pretty like this.â You stopped laughing immediately, eyes snapping to make sure you were hearing him correctly. âWhat?â
âI donât tell you enough, do I?â He says doubling down. You were taken aback, heâs never this straightforward. âYouâre a beautiful girl, and I donât tell you enough.â You could only blink, this was out of the blue, and you didnât even know what to say.
âYou donât have to say anything, just let me talk.â He shifted his entire body towards you, hands lingering on the blanket near yours. Not touching, just there.
âI love your laugh, I love the way you smile. I love the way you try to act upset when you canât find it in yourself to be. I love the way you always ask for my opinion on if the outfit you picked out looks on you, it always doesââ He shook his head, nodding to himself as if it were an irrefutable fact.
âI love everything about you,â His lips pressed together, hesitating, for the first time since he started speaking. He questioned whether not to continue, but did so anyway. Heâd already said this much, right? âI really like you, Y/n.â
Your whole body felt stiff, but your mind was so relaxed, relieved even. âAnd I really like you too, Yuta.â His nervousness subsided instantly, and he exhaled a breath he didnât even know he was holding.
Your brows raised as his hands disappeared around the tree you both were sitting under. They reappeared with a bouquet in hand, reaching up to rub the back of his neck in that way he always does, his gaze completely and utterly focused on you. Smooth. âCan I take you on a date?â You smiled, taking the flowers from his hand. âOf course.â
He did indeed take you on that date, and another before you started dating not long after. Then Yuta went to Africa for a few months, and the rest is history.
Those were some of the most memorable days of your life.
And now, as you stand directly in front of the tall rectangular mirror of your dressing room, you couldnât help but feel so emotional.
You were getting married.
Those were words you never thought would even be true, and now they were. You were getting married to the love of your life, the man who you chose to spend the rest of your life with. The man whoâd chosen you to spend it with.
Some would judge you for getting married so young, but you couldnât care less. There is no age that determines if love will last, itâs about how powerful that connection is.
Your makeup artist stood beside you, dabbing a small tissue at your eyes to catch the stray tears that were flowing out. Youâd been able to plan your dream wedding, the one youâd dreamt about since you could remember. put so much thought into every little detail.
Yuta was a simple man. He let you choose everything for the wedding, giving his input when asked, but letting you take full control of the process. As long as you were happy, he could care less. Happy wife, happy life, right?
The venue you chose was straight out of your dreams. After all the planning and tedious details that came out of setting everything up with vendors and such, you were relieved that everything had worked out the way you planned.
Your ears picked up on the sound of music starting. Your fingers trailed down the material on your torso, smoothing it out as you let out a shaky exhale. You were so nervous, but excited, all at the same time. Gosh, your emotions were everywhere.
Taking one last look in the mirror, you turned towards the door. Heels clicked against the floor, feet carrying you to a familiar figure. The one you chose to walk you down the aisle. You still remember when you asked. So many tears were exchanged. Now that day is here at last.
Your arm looped into theirs, eyes meeting and getting a reassuring nod in return.
Looking ahead once more, you started to the opening where the ceremony was taking place just around the corner. Stopping, and giving yourself one last deep breath, before taking the bouquet from the florist.
All eyes were on you as you rounded the corner, pausing for a moment with the sound of the music, then moving again in rhythm with the song that played on the hidden speakers.Â
Yuta swore his heart stopped. You looked gorgeous. So, so, so gorgeous. His eyes mapped out every inch of you. That dress. That dress. It suited you perfectly. Every detail reflected everything about you he admired. He couldnât believe heâd gotten so lucky with a woman like you.
You were so out of his league, goshâ was he pathetic. Tears pressed formed in his eyes like sprinklers, not being able to stop himself. You looked absolutely ethereal, and he got to marry you? Yeah, he was certain at this point. Heâs the luckiest man alive, and nothing will change his mind. Heâs way too far gone.
Looking around, your heart couldnât help but to clench at the sight of your loved ones sitting in the rows that stretched past you. Family and friends, all here to celebrate your union.
You finally reached the altar, ascending the stairs, Yuta taking hand to assist guiding you up. Once you were facing each other, his hands slowly slipped from yours to the veil hanging in front of your face. He lifted it gently over the back of your head. As soon as he saw your face the tears spilled over.
âHi.â He said between breaths. âHi.â You replied in a teary chuckle.
You couldnât help but tear up the sight of Yutaâs pressed suit and perfectly styled bangs. Tired eyes that never seemed to ever completely fade, no matter how many days off he managed to spend tangled in the sheets of his bed, letting his body rest after one of the many missions he was assigned.
Yuta smiled, eyes wide but soft, gaze trailing over you.
Your maid of honor, Maki, took the bouquet from you. Making sure to fix the bottom of your dress before stepping away.
The officiator officially welcomed the guests as they sat. Then the vows had begun.
Yuta pulled a paper from his suit, rolling his shoulders and giving you a once over before beginning.
âWhen I first met you, I was captivated by just how open and welcoming you were to me, so nice even though youâd known me for no more than 5 minutes. So when I built the confidence to ask you out, my hands were so clammy, but I knew there was no way I could miss the chance that time. You saw me, helped me, were so patient when I was at my lowest. You never rushed anything, always helped me enjoy the little things, and assured me that I was wanted.â
He put his arms down, holding your hands now. Not reading from his paper anymore, but completely from his heart.
âNow, I promise to give you that back tenfold. I promise to take you to the bookstore no matter how late it is. I promise to give you the last bite of the dessert you said we could split. I promise to give you the world. To hold your hand and call you mine. I promise to be yours until the end of time. I would run through a fire if it meant being by your side. If your heartâs on the line, you can take mine. Iâd sacrifice my life for you. If you asked, Iâd give you my mind, my body, my everything. Iâd give anything and everything just to see you happy.â
âItâs crazy but itâs true. Thereâs nothing I wouldnât do. Iâd risk it all for you.â
You were sobbing at this point, Yuta equally are teary, wiping your tears as you wept.
âY/n, do you take Yuta Okkotsu to be your husband? For better, for worse, through sickness or health, to love and cherish, till death do you part?â

Notes: Happy birthday Yuuta!
You knew he wouldnât be awake, of course not, it was midnight for him in a totally different timezone to yours and you knew that he was working hard over in Africa. He would be resting after a hard dayâs work, preparing for another. But it didnât matter, because heâd wake up and find that youâd messaged him the moment it turned midnight, tracking the time where he was just to make sure you were perfectly on time, celebrating his birthday on the other side of the world.
With that done, you set about getting ready for the day, after all it was a week day which meant you had classes. You showered, got dressed, and headed to get yourself some breakfast. You found Maki already getting breakfast for herself, so the two of you sat together and chatted idly amongst yourselves. You never couldâve guessed what was being planned behind your back, never wouldâve known that Maki had been deliberately planted to distract you from it.
So when two strong arms wrapped around you from behind, you did startle and almost strike out behind you to shake them off. But long fingers wrapped around your clenched fist, and a soft, breathy chuckle sounded by your ear.
âGood morning to you too, angel.â Came Yuutaâs voice. Rather than hitting him, you spun in his arms and knocked him to the ground in a tight hug.
He was home.
Your other friends entered the room then, laughing as they observed the happy reunion. Laughter bounced off the walls, fond smiles on each of their faces as they watched.
âWhen did you get here?â You asked Yuuta, pulling back just enough to look down at him where youâd knocked him to the floor. He looked.. different. You had, of course, seen how different he was in pictures since heâd left but it was something else entirely to see him in person, to feel him in person, so different to how heâd been before. Broader, more muscular beneath your hands when they rested on his chest, his jaw just a little sharper. He looked damn good.
âJust a few hours ago. I wanted it to be a surprise.â He replied. Despite all those changes, his smile was still the same. Soft, sweet, your Yuuta. A sniffle wasnât what anyone was expecting, nor the tears that brimmed in your eyes.
Yuuta immediately sat you both upright and wrapped muscular arms around you, holding you close.
âOh angel, please donât cry.â He said, lips ghosting over your cheek to press the softest kiss there.
âSorry, Iâm just so happy to see you.â You replied, doing your best to laugh as you wiped the rogue tears away, burying your face in Yuutaâs neck now he was close enough, breathing in the cologne that was still familiar after all this time.
Two years away. Heâd been gone for two whole years. Youâd celebrated his seventeenth birthday by text, and youâd been expecting the same this year - youâd made your peace with that, it was fine. It was overwhelming to be presented with your boyfriend, 18 as of today, right there in front of you, in your arms. He chuckled softly, pressing his face to your neck in return, just holding you for a while.
âI missed you.â You finally managed to whisper.
âI missed you too.â He replied, a gentle kiss pressed just below your ear, which made you shiver and goosebumps break out over your skin.
Once you were more composed, Yuuta lifted you out of his lap so he could stand, then pulled you up with him. You refused to go far, sticking to his side like glue.
âThanks for your text, by the way. Itâs midnight back where I was, you did that on purpose I guess?â He said after a moment, and your responding sheepish smile was paired with a brief nod. âYouâre so sweet.â His arm wrapped naturally around your waist as if that was where it belonged, like heâd never been away at all. Instinctively, you leaned into his body in return, and the knowing looks you got from your friends didnât escape your notice, but nobody commented.
You were given a pass from attending classes for the day, considering it was a Friday, and Yuuta wasnât home permanently just yet, heâd returned for a short break because of his birthday. A special long weekend to enjoy your time with him while it lasted. Everyone else was happy to let you and Yuuta have the morning to yourselves, letting you reacquaint yourselves with each other with all the changes that had happened while you were separated.
As morning turned to afternoon, you lay together side by side in your bed, in just your underwear, arms wrapped around each other.
âI really have missed you.â You said softly, glancing up at Yuuta from your position.
âIâve missed you too. This really is the best birthday gift I couldâve asked for.â
⥠âË⧠đ.đđđđ. learns to love his birthday again.
Ë àŁȘà«źâ fluff ( wow ) :: reader's hopelessly in love :: slight angst àŁȘá àŁȘË
Yuta often forgot his birthday.
It's to be expected. He hasn't had a normal birthday since he was ten. His mother would bake a cake. His father would take him to the park. Rika would be invited for a small birthday party, the one with silly hats and multicoloured balloons. Every kid's dream.
But being estranged from your parents and distanced from your familyâ being bound to a curse, well, that certainly took the joy out of anything. When your very birth became a curse, what was there to celebrate?
But then you came along.
He was eighteen when you first shoved a small box into his hand, your face dazzled by the sun and your smile brighter.
He blinked rapidly. âWhat'sââ
âHappy birthday!â
He blinked again.
Birthday? Oh, right. March 7th. But how did you. . .
âGojo-Sensei told me,â you reached up, flicking his temple and grinning as he pouted, cupping his face.
âAh, I see.â He carefully looked at the gift. âWell, you didn't have toââ
âShh.â
He paused as you shoved a hand to his chest. He hoped you wouldn't hear his racing heart. It rattled his ribcage when you smiled at him like that.
âJust open it, kay?â you cooed.
It was a bracelet. Simple. Black beads with a white charm. He never took it off.
Just like he'd never forgotten his birthday ever again.
Moreso, you wouldn't allow him to. Every birthday since then, you always found a way of popping your head in and brightening his day.
You got him a cake for his nineteenth. With candles and everything. He told you he hadn't had a birthday cake in over a decade.
He regretted how you almost cried.
âHey, hey, it's fineâ really!" His hands waved frankly as his brows pinched. Lips pressed together in a concerned line. âI'm not sad or anything. It was a long time ago.â
âYuta.â
He paused at the crack in your voice. Heart aching. Only to flutter when you hugged on his arm and pressed your face into his shoulder. So close. So soft.
âI'll never let you be lonely again.â You muttered.
Something warm blossomed in his chest. And even as his hand shook, it reached to cup your head. Hold you close. Because he believed it.
How could he ever feel lonely when you were around?
On his twentieth, you confessed.
It was messy. An accident. You'd been so high strung on cuddling in his arms after a night full of cake and watching romcoms he had a soft spot forâ that you didn't realise how close your face was to his.
Didn't realise that you were leaning in to peck away frosting from his lips before you could stop yourself.
Only realises when he tensed and his dead eyes went wide. When arms that held you fell limp.
You surged with panic.
âIââ you jerked back. âSorry, I. I wasn't thinking. I justâ"
And then you burst.
âI like you! Well, not like you. More likeâ love you. Or, well, that's weird. That's fast. I mean I really like youâ uh.â you scrambled to get off of the sofa. âI think I'm just gonnaââ
He let himself be bold that night. Two decades was a mark for change.
Yuta's cold hand cupped the back of your head, the bracelet you got him still dangling from his wrist.
He you back in before you could fumble to your feet. Pale lips pressed on yours. Clumsy but certain. Dazed, but deep. Kissing you like his soul knew how to innately. Like loving you was natural.
Because it was.
You squeaked at first, stiffened. Before you melted into him the same way you always did.
Your softness pressed into him. Hands curling round his shirt as you deepened the kiss. Leaned further onto him. And furtherâ until you toppled him over the sofa and straight to the floor.
His arm shot around you. Just like yours darted to cushion his head. Both yelping as you hit the floor with thudâ with silenceâ and then a bout of warm laughter.
âWell, I really like you, too.â
His titters paused as you leaned over him. Pressing your forearm beside his head and brushing your lips over his once more. His arm curled around you tighter. Lashes eased until his eyes fluttered shut.
Soft and sweet. The perfect gift.
And as you parted, you whispered above him. Eyes dazzled just like that day two years ago. With no sun.
Just him.
âHappy birthday, Yuta.â
You smiled.
He never forgot another birthday after that.
After all, he had an important reason to remember it, now.
HII may i request a Isagi x Rin and Sae sister where heâs in her room (he got there when sae and rin werent home) And they were doing their things (idk what u can imagine) and they basically enter bc they heard a boy and they were right,Because Isagi was here on the bed with their sister. (TYSM IF U DO IT)
âč caught in the act àŒâ
⧜(˶ËáËË”) synopsis: hanging with your boyfriend; but your brothers interrupting. + fluff ïč fem! reader ïč sae being fav brother :p
you and your boyfriend, isagi yoichi. sat on your bed with your back against the headboard, knees pulled up to your chest. isagi was cuddled up besides you â close enough that your shoulders brushed against each others.
the romance movie played softly in the background while the two of you whispered and laughed under your breath, trying not to make any noise.
ârin is such a nerd!â you murmured, covering your smile. isagi let out a quiet laugh â then froze.
the faint jingle of keys echoed from the living room. the front door opening slowly. both of your smiles faded hearing footsteps crossing the wooden floors.
you leaned closer and whispered into isagiâs ear, âkaisers miss shot.â he lost it completely. isagi clapped a hand over his mouth, laugher slipping through anyway.
instantly, the faint chatter from the other room stopped. a strip of hallway light spilled beneath your door. you frowned. beside you, isagi swallowed like he was about to get eaten.
suddenly, your room door flew open. your older brothers, rin and sae stood in the doorway looking confused as ever â the air dropped into complete silence.
rin looked like heâd just walked in on something horrifying. he stepped inside slowly, eyes locked on isagi. a sharp glare followed every movement he made.
sae lingered behind him, calm as ever â but curious on the situation. his gaze shifted once. from you.. to isagi.. and back to you. â â..isagi yoichi,â sae said flatly.
you blinked, then waved awkwardly. âuh.. hi, sae.â your favorite brother let out a quiet breath through his nose.
rin, on the other hand, hadnât said a word. his jaw tightened the longer he stared at the boy next to you. at how close heâd been sitting to you, at the fact that your shoulders were still touching.
â..why,â rin finally spoke, his voice low and even, âis he in your room.â isagi straighten his posture immediately.
âi-i came to give y/n her makeup back,â he said quickly. âand then we just.. starting talking, and-â â you gently tugged on the sleeve of his hoodie
the movie kept playing behind you, soft music filling the tense silence. âitâs my fault.â you said quietly. âi invited him over.â â rinâs eyes dropped to your hand holding isagiâs sleeve.
then slowly, they lifted back to your face. behind him, sae let out an amused breath. âthis is going to be annoying.â he muttered under his breath.
you tried to stay calm, even though your fingers were still resting on your boyfriends arm, finding comfort with being close to him either way.
without warning, rin reached over and shooed isagi away. â the space between you and him widened.
and then â rin sat directly down between you. âseriously?â you snapped, nudging his shoulder harshly. isagi giving you a confused look; completely eyeing your brother down.
âi donât want you two doing anything freaky.â rin replied flatly. both you and isagi froze.
ârin!!â you shouted, face burning; you two being flustered from the unexpected comment. âyouâre disgusting!â
rin leaned back casually between you and your boyfriend.
âexactly my point.â
a/n: soo cutee !! i tried my best :) might be short but i LOVE THIS SMMM HEHEH and sae glaze bc thatâs my papash
Isagi loves your thighs. And even though he isn't the type of guy to answer "personality" when asked "Boobs, thighs or ass?", he doesn't want to outright say how attracted he feels to them, mainly because he doesn't want you to think he only cares about your body (even though you know he doesn't).
So, imagine how heavenly it felt the first time he got to sleep on your lap. He remembers it as if it happened just yesterday.
He had come home after a tough day of practice, in which his coach seemed even more angry than usual and just determined to make the whole team's day a living hell. Everything in him was aching, from his back to his feet, and he could swear he had a fever or something, because his head was starting to throb too. All Isagi wanted to do was get home and lay down, even if it meant sleeping without showering (which shows how tired he was).
"Honey? You're home!" he heard you saying from the kitchen the moment he stepped foot on your shared apartment "Welcome home!"
He tried to answer your sweet welcome. He really did. But his mouth just wouldn't answer his brain's commands. So, he was just standing, staring at you with his mouth wide open.
"Isagi? Are you feeling alright?"
He couldn't even register what he was doing, but the next thing he knew, he walked closer to you.
"Sweetie, you're starting to scare me. Do you need to go to the doctor? Did something happen today at practice?"
He couldn't resist the urge to hug you anymore even though he was trying to restrain himself because he was still stinky from practice and he knew you hated it when he hugged you before showering. He couldn't explain it, but you looked so huggable at the moment! He took a step closer, hugging you tight and burying his face in the crook of your neck, inhaling deeply and letting out a satisfied sigh. His hands were travalling your waist, playing with the hem of your shirt
"Yoichi!" you exclaimed, voice worried yet still not loud enough to make his head ache even more (he doesn't even think your voice will ever be capable of doing him any harm) "You're burning up! You have a fever! I can't believe it, I told you to take better care of yourself!"
Ah. So he was right. He had a fever. That's why training was so hard today.
"Hm" he muttered, still with his head in your neck. He closed his eyes, enjoying the sweet moment you both were having.
"Stay at the couch, I'll go grab some medicine at the bathroom."
"Noooo, don't leave me here" he said, clearly affected by his sickness "I don't want to be away from youuuu"
"Yoichi, honey, you're clearly not thinking straight right now. But I won't go away! I'll be back in like 30 seconds. Sit on the couch and count, I swear it won't be long"
He sighed, but complied anyway, sitting at the couch and waiting (im)patiently.
You were right, because in almost no time you came back with pills and a cup of water. If there was a sport where the champion had to be the person who brought a glass of water and medicine to his sick boyfriend the fastest, you would win, Isagi thought (and it made him weirdly proud).
"Here. Drink it up". He obeyed.
"Everything hurts"
"I know it does, love. What you need right now is sleep. Come here" you said, patting the spot beside you on the couch.
Now, you were clearly referring to the couch. You even moved aside a bit so he could lay down fully.
But in his sick, delirious brain, Isagi immediately thought of this as an opportunity to lay on your thighs.
If he was in his right mind, he would've blushed and maybe even cussed himself at first for thinking about it, but he wasn't. He just wanted to rest, and he always dreamed about laying in your lap that looked oh so comfy. So, he quickly grasped the opportunity.
"Yoichi, what are you- hey!" You exclaimed while he walked towards you, half lidded gaze focusing on one spot only: between your legs.
He slowly lifted your hand that was resting on your lap and laid his head on your thighs, face in between them, and put the same hand he previously moved on his hair, silently begging you to scratch his scalp (which you did, giggling and enjoying this side of your boyfriend)
And boy was it as good as he imagined it would be. Better, actually. Your thighs were fluffier than any other pillows he had ever used before, and he felt like he could hibernate there. And you playing with his hair just set the deal - he was sure you were an angel, sent just for him. He was in heaven. He couldn't even fell the pain anymore, and he was sure it wasn't just the medicine doings.
"I love your thighs" he admitted, a sincerity he wouldn't have when he was healthy, which made you chuckle. "And I love you too. Thank you." He kissed the inner part of your thigh to show you how serious he was about it
"I love you too, Yoichi. Now, rest. We don't want the best striker of the world sick all week, do we?"
"If it means laying on your lap everyday, I'd be sick my whole life"
"You're silly"
"And you're the love of my life"
"Good night, Isagi"
"Good night, my love."
Is it really a repost if I changed a few things? đ€

He expected Panda sprawled on the usual drab couch, manspreading in a kind of theatrical entitlement that would have left Toge squeezed into the corner of the couch, who would then murmur odd syllables of amusement once Maki began her exasperated scolding.Â
And right on cue, he had walked into an argument already mid-swing.
âThereâs nothing to tell,â Maki snapped, though Yuuta doesnât miss the faintest colour traced on her cheekbones as he reaches his usual seat â a distinctly red single couch, its fabric dulled and rubbed threadbare from years of bodies slouching into it. âSheâs just some underling at work. She gawks at me all the time â it doesnât mean anything.â
Panda grinned in response. âCâmon,â he chuckled. âYouâre going out with a woman. A real-life-size woman. Isnât that something?â
Maki rolled her eyes as Toge gave a quiet syllable of agreement, his eyes brighter than ever.Â
This was a routine. This was ordinary. He had never once imagined that such a place of ordinary rituals could tilt itself into something more fantastical and ceremonial. But it did.Â
The door of the cafe opened with the regular chime sound, and he remembers it all too clearlyâ at first, he heard the hiss of rain, then he smelt the damp wet stones. Yuutaâs eyes looked up lazily, expecting another student, another office worker, someone here for cheap coffee and shelter from the drizzle. Instead, he saw you. A woman â no, not just any woman, but a bride.Â
Your eyes dart across the room â frantic, urgent, desperate to find someone, and itâs only when your eyes find him that he realises â itâs him. You were searching for him.Â
At that realisation, he lurched up to stand at once. It was a little too clumsy, too sudden, as though his seat had grown immediately hot.
He thought he should speak, ask something rational, like what are you doing here? Or say something gentle, like asking if you were okay, but his tongue felt thick and lumpy in his mouth, sodden just as the dirty hem of your white dress.Â
So when you began to speak, he almost sighed with relief.
âYuuta,â you said, his name softened between your lips, and your whole face seemed to ease.
âOh, itâs so⊠Iâm so happy youâre here. I didnât know where else to go. I justâ I left. I left him, Yuuta. I was standing there, staring at the aisle, at him, at all of it. The expensive flowers. The expensive carpet. The expensive champagne, and suddenly it was like I couldnât breathe. I couldnât breathe. I couldnât do it. So I ran. I justâ I ran.â
Yuuta isnât sure what he can say to that.
Itâs loaded, so he doesnât know where to start asking questions. He simply stares at you. And then turns back to see his seated friends, as though one of them will ground him away from this dream that he seems to have slipped into. Because it is a dream, right?
But when Panda only gave a low whistle in response, it was the kind that seared the reality of the situation into his brain.
âNow this,â Panda had said, leaning back, âis better than Love Island, my friends.â
He knows now that this is real. And youâve apparently left a wedding. You had agreed, once, to marry someone else, and then you hadnât. This is an afterthought he tries to suppress, given everything else thatâs staring him stark in the face. But he does think it, even if it were only for a moment.
Maki crossed her arms then, watching you closely. âYouâre dripping mud all over the floor,â she comments, but her voice doesnât come out with any sort of sting, but rather as an observation.
You looked flustered, but ignored the comment as you took Yuutaâs hands, clutching them with a desperation that made his heart stumble out of his chest.
You were cold to touch, and he wonders if he should give you his jacket.
âI donât want to be who I was,â you confessed now softly. âI was this girl who lived in a bubble. I looked at him, Yuuta, and I thoughtâ this isnât it. This isnât my life. This isnât me at all. And all I could think was⊠I needed to find a friend. A friend who knows me.â
Itâs out of place to hear this confession from a person he hadnât seen in years now, but everything about this situation was out of place.
You belonged at the end of an aisle, and he belonged here.
You were meant for cathedrals and champagne halls, and he was meant for a chipped mug of coffee and a menial job. Yet, you were here holding his hand.Â
It was all out of place.Â
â
The group, to Yuuta's surprise, was astonishingly well-composed in the wake of your situation.
Toge and Panda had gone to the counter to get you something warm. Maki, whose name, you would only learn later, had wordlessly stripped a navy shawl from her own shoulders and flung it across yours in a gesture that was brusque.
And then there was Yuuta.
Yuuta was crouched before you, perched on the low table opposite. His body was tilted forward as he stared intensely at you. You didnât blame him, though the intensity of his stare, mingled with the realisations of what you had just done â of the words you had mumbled to him, of the man you had abandoned, of the people whose names would be lighting up your screen, of the entire state of your life â all of which had suddenly all come boiling to the surface.Â
And sitting there, clutching the borrowed shawl tight around your shoulders, you felt the shame and embarrassment rise sharply in your throat.
âAre you okay?â Yuuta tried, the words falling clumsily from his mouth.
And immediately he realised how stupid that sounded. Are you okay? What a ridiculous and pathetic question. Of course, you werenât okay. People who were okay didnât abandon weddings midway through. People who were okay didnât search, wild-eyed, for the face of a boy they hadnât seen in almost half a decade. People who did this were â undeniably, certifiably â not okay.
He glanced sideways at Maki, who was already looking at him like he was the dumbest man alive.
He gulped. He wanted, very sincerely, to punch himself in the face.
âI just feel like someone has reached down my throat, and has grabbed my small intestine, pulled it out of my mouth, and tied it around my neck.â
The description was grotesque, or even dramatic and childish, but it was the truth of your body.
âIf you get me,â you attempted to add, your voice dropping to a meek, apologetic murmur.
And at that, Yuuta really wanted to punch himself in the face. He should be saying something, anything to distract you from your situation â to make your world lighter, but where could he begin? He knew nothing anymore. Not about you, not about the person you had become, not about the life you had just abandoned.
âI am glad to see you, though,â you added softly. âItâs strange. I havenât seen you in years, but youâre my only true friend Iâve had in such a long time.â
âA friend who wasnât even invited to the wedding,â Maki remarked. Her voice was sharp, but the remark itself was plain. It didnât feel accusatory, but more so â observational.Â
âMaki,â Yuuta protested, however, as his chest was tightening.
âWe did drift apart,â you admitted, eyes not leaving his. âBut you would always be my friend, Yuuta. You know that, donât you?â
He could swear your eyes twinkled just then.
â
You sat with both hands curled around the hot chocolate. The porcelain of the cup radiated a simple and welcoming warmth that you clung to, sip after sip, while they all stared at you. There are questions simmering beneath their tongues, you can feel it, but the warmth of the cup around your palms, the warmth of the drink down your throat left you a bit listless, and comforted â that you didnât mind. You simply sipped on the drink as they watched you like some exotic creature they were meant to study.
You look up now, at the group, and then at Yuuta.
âCan I borrow your phone?â you asked, quietly but firmly too. âI need to call my father.â
Yuuta startled, cleared his throat, already reaching for his pocket. âRight. Yeah. Of course.â
âWho is she?â Panda asked first, his voice sly, delighted by the scandal at hand. âDonât tell me you were having an affair with an engaged woman. How perverted is that?â He paused, grin widening as he looked at her now. âKudos, though. Sheâs pretty.â
Yuutaâs brow knit, irritation flashing across his face. âItâs not like that,â he said quickly. âI havenât seen her in years. Sheâs justâ an old friend. We grew up together. We donât even talk anymore.â His voice trailed off. Itâs all out of place.
âAnd yet,â Maki murmured, arms folded, eyes narrowing in clinical interest, âshe runs to you as she leaves her future husband. Isnât that interesting?â
Yuuta hesitated, words catching. Then, softly, almost pleading, he said, âI mean⊠look at her. She doesnât seem like she has a lot of good friends. She probably just needed someone outside of those circles. Her familyâ theyâre the rich kind, you know. Theyâve got their own world, their own orbit. I donât know why sheâs here, but Iâm assuming she has no one else.â
At that, he could visibly see Maki soften, her shoulders relaxed. You were not the threat afterall. You were just a woman with a family of idiots.Â
âThatâs⊠kinda sad,â Panda said in response, voicing what everyone was feeling. And for once, his voice held no joke at all. It was sincere.Â
You stood by the window, with the phone pressed to your ear. You almost wish he wouldnât pick up. You didnât want to face this reality of yours. This life you lived. You wish you could start a new one here, with Yuuta and his odd group of friends.Â
When your fatherâs voice came through, it was clipped, cool, controlled â as though you had interrupted a board meeting, or worse, humiliated him by existing in the wrong place.
âWhere are you?â he demanded, without any effort to establish a preamble. âCome back. Now.â
You swallowed. âI left.â
âI am aware,â he said. âYou have thirty minutes. Return.â
âNo,â you whispered.
âSpeak up,â he urged. He hated it when you mumbled to yourself. Meek. Weak. Small.Â
Your voice was trembling, though you forced it to sound steady. âI couldnâtââ You failed. âI could not do it, Papa. I tried. I really tried, but when I looked at him⊠I wanted to leave, and so, I did.âÂ
You pressed your hand against the cold glass, the rain outside smearing the city into indistinct lights. Something to steady you, you tried to focus on the colours.Â
âI only wanted to apologise to you and Mama. I love you both. And Iâm only sorry for that. For abandoning you to deal with this for me. But I never wanted it, and you knew it.âÂ
You clutched the phone tighter, as though by holding it you might tether yourself to something familiar, but the voice on the other end was not safety. It never was.Â
âGoodbye,â you said then. Final. Ending. âI hope you forgive me.â
âAre you alright?â Yuutaâs voice cut through cleanly into the fugue â steady, warm, and concerned.
You turned, slow and uncomposed. Your eyes were rimmed with red, and before you could reason your way through it, you closed the distance between you and him. You all but collapsed into his arms.
He was startled and nearly lost his footing until he steadied himself. Then he steadied you, pulling you upright into his hold. His arms folded around you as his palm pressed to the back of your head in a slow, patting you now.Â
âItâs okay,â he murmured. He repeated them anyway, again and again, slowly, until the sound itself became a tether. A mantra. A spell. And the more he said it, the more you began to believe it.Â
When your sobs stopped, as the deep tremor in your chest had flattened down and softened, you pulled back. The world may look a little blurrier now, but you felt lighter, too.
â
There wasnât a lot left to do now. The evening had already begun to fold itself into routine, the kind they all knew by heart. Usually, it was Maki who left first â she had a strict regimen, physical health scheduled into her life with the same precision she levelled at everything else. She stood, gathering her things, then fixed the two of you with that measured, sharp-eyed stare as you held her shawl out to her.
âThank you for the shawl,â you said, a little awkwardly.Â
âYouâre welcome,â she replied, matter-of-fact. Then, after a beat: âYouâll be fine. Ask Yuuta for my number if you need a place to stay. My roommateâs moving out, actually, so the timing is sort of perfect.â
âYeah,â Maki said, shouldering her bag. âJust, itâs not a big deal. Just be⊠cool.â
âI can be cool,â you said, feeling defensive all too suddenly, though grateful at her proposal. You hadnât mapped this out realistically at all. Where would you stay? How would you pay for things now?
Panda lasted another half hour before lumbering up from the couch, crumbs trailing from his shirt. He clapped Yuutaâs shoulder with a heavy hand that left an ache long after, rolling through Yuutaâs bones.
âYou have so much to tell me,â he said, grin spreading wide, teeth flashing. âCanât wait to see you Monday.â
It sounded less like enthusiasm and more like a threat. Yuuta frowned as Panda winked, shambling out into the drizzle with a parting wave.
Outside, the air was damp and cool. Inumaki hesitated by the door, then glanced at you once, at Yuuta, and back again. Without a word, he shrugged off his own coat â a dark woollen thing, faintly scented with smoke and tea â and draped it carefully over your shoulders
âSalmon,â he murmured, tone soft, almost tender.
You turned to look at Yuuta, feeling tended to, but confused nonetheless.Â
Yuuta, fumbling for clarity, added, âYou can return it next time you see him.â
âThank you,â you said, still confused but clutching the coat closer around yourself.
Yuuta watched, throat tightening. Something faint and warm filled his chest, blooming against the night chill.
âUm, what do you want to do now?â Yuuta asked. His voice was gentle and unassuming, as if the question cost him nothing particular or grave. Like the energy it took to move a muscle at best.Â
You blinked, a half-smile breaking through on your face. You expected heâd bid you farewell and wish you good luck on your way. And this would be the end of this. Â
You would preside after this evening only as an anecdote, a funny story to be told at parties.
âI donât know,â you admitted, feeling lighter than youâve felt in a year. Then, sheepishly, you speak up. âIâm hungry.â
For the first time in a long time, you heard Yuuta laugh. Itâs a quiet, incredulous, almost disbelieving laughter.Â
You smiled. His laughter always carried this particular alchemy.
It pulled you back, just a little, to an image of a boy â slight and sunburnt, and a girl â bright and unburdened. To summer afternoons that were filled with knee scratches and ice creams, where time had stretched itself out for you and you alone. Where his laughter accompanying your own meant the evening would be well-lived and light.Â
Now, youâre here, years later.Â
âI have a bike,â he said suddenly. âI can drive us up to the high street.â
You blinked. âYou have a bike,â you repeated, tone incredulous, baffled, impressed, but baffled nonetheless.Â
Because the Yuuta you remembered â scrawny, awkward, scared of his own shadow Yuuta â had somehow grown into this. Into a man who rode a bike. Into a man whose jacket stretched slightly over the curve of real muscle, whose hands looked steady enough to hold both the handlebars.Â
The thought invoked something strange within you.
âYeah,â he said, reaching up to scratch the back of his neck.Â
Still awkward, you concluded with a smile. Still him.
The rain had eased into a mist, soft enough to blur the streetlamps into trembling halos. Yuuta wheeled the bike out from the narrow row where it had been chained, the frame slick with water, the metal gleaming in the half-light. It wasnât anything glamorous â but a sleek red motorbike, well-worn yet polished, the kind of machine that spoke of quiet care. You noticed it immediately, how clean it was despite the weather, as though heâd taken time to tend to it, to keep it shining.
And yet, seeing him swing his leg over it, steady and confident, made something twist unexpectedly in your chest. A strange contrast to the boy you remembered, awkward and hesitant. This was new, unfamiliar â and it unsettled you in ways you werenât prepared to admit.
He glanced at you then, his expression caught somewhere between soft pride and embarrassment. âYou, uh⊠youâll have to hold on.â
The words made your pulse stutter. He said them with such plain practicality, and yet.
So you slid onto the seat behind him, hesitating for a beat before wrapping your arms around his middle. His body was warm even through the fabric of his jacket, the steady rhythm of his breath grounding you against the cool, damp air. You hadnât realised how cold youâd been until now.
Yuuta stiffened, just slightly, then exhaled, adjusting his grip on the handlebars. âReady?â
âMm,â you murmured, your cheek brushing against his shoulder.
And then you were moving. The bike hummed under you, wheels hissing against the rain-dark road. The night opened itself up in streaks of light and shadow â shopfronts shuttered, puddles gleaming, the occasional car spraying water as it passed. The air rushed past, damp and sharp, tugging at your hair, carrying the faintest scent of soap and rain from his collar.
Yuuta walked beside you after parking near the stretch everyone colloquially called âfood street,â and was turning this task over in his head, as though the very act of deciding on food were a kind of responsibility he must shoulder for you. Almost reverently, for your sake.
His mind ransacked through all the possibilities â the ramen joints with neon lights on side streets, but too shabby, and perhaps too makeshift for you. You would be a pale flare in that kind of place, the white of your dress catching every eye. Worse yet, someone might assume he was your husband and think him a figure so careless enough to drag you here on your wedding night.
Convenience stores, he thought, were too sterile, lit with fluorescent bulbs, though he suspected you hadnât had the opportunity to have a proper meal all day. He imagined you standing there outside the store in your wedding dress, peeling back a corner of film from a microwaved meal, and recoiled. He wanted to give you a meal that wasnât pre-sealed in plastic.Â
He could cook for you, he thought briefly. But the idea felt awkward, inappropriate. He hadnât seen you in years. And you were a lady, after all.Â
As though he was caught in a well-timed play, his eyes immediately caught sight of red lanterns glowing above a narrow wooden doorway. He had seen this place before, always in passing, and always from the corner of his eye when he was on his way to the laundromat, but never saw a real opportunity to enter. He wasnât one to eat out often, besides the occasional social obligations he was invited to. He preferred cooking at home. It was a private ritual he liked.
He slowed, then turned to you. Your gaze was already drawn to the lanterns.
âWhat do you think?â he asked, his voice soft, tentative.
You looked at the doorway, the lanterns, the promise of something warm and sustaining, and then back at him.Â
âHonestly,â you replied with a tired smile. âI could eat anything right now. Itâs a free game.â
And so, you entered, slipping beneath the lanterns.
The interior was smaller than you had expected. There were long counters of dark wood, and some fake green plants were scattered around the corners.Â
There was already a bunch of patrons on occupied tables, people who seemed to be mostly office workers still in suits hunched over their bowls and plates. The air was thick with the fragrance of grilled fish, miso, and the faint scent of the bitterness of charred onion. You would eat well tonight, at least.
At the entrance stood the proprietor, who was a middle-aged man with his hair pulled back into a low knot, and his sleeves rolled neatly to his elbows. He looked up as the two of you entered, and you could tell he attempted to repress his surprise at seeing you in your state.Â
âTable for two, then?â he asked, his demeanour reverting to a calm assurance of someone who had seen all sorts of late-night guests pass through his doorway.
Yuuta nodded quickly. âYes, please.â
The proprietor gestured you toward a small table tucked into the corner. You were grateful you wouldnât catch the eyes of most of the patrons from here; you were half-shielded.Â
Yuuta hovered for a moment, awkwardly, unsure whether to pull the chair out for you or pretend he hadnât thought of it, and in his hesitation, you had already firmly seated yourself with a heave of sigh, smoothing the damp folds of your dress. He followed, sitting opposite you now â dejected by his lateness.
For a moment, neither of you spoke before Yuuta picked up the menu, eyes skimming without really reading. The truth was, the act of choosing a meal seemed suddenly impossible, just as choosing a place to eat did.
You leaned over your own menu, propping your chin on one hand, watching him. Intently, he would say.Â
Finally, he looked up, as though catching your gaze. âUm,â he said, clearing his throat. âThey have fried chicken? And, uh, a few noodle bowls. Do youââ he hesitated, âuh, want me to pick, orââ
âYuuta,â you cut in, grinning before you could stop yourself, âI told you. Anything. Iâd probably eat the menu itself if they deep-fried it.â
The waiter arrived with two glasses of iced water, setting them down with a clink. You reached for yours immediately, the cold, sweating glass delicious against your palm, and took a long swig.
âSo,â you spoke up, as you propped your chin onto both your hands. âTell me then.â
Yuuta blinked. âAbout?â
âAbout your life, I mean.âÂ
The clarification didnât quell any of the weight for Yuuta.Â
Youâll admit you did not know how to ask this without sounding intrusive, nor how to stop once you had begun.Â
âWhat do you do now? For work, I mean. Do you have a wife? Is your favourite ice-cream flavour still vanilla? What made you start riding bikes? I never, in all my life, expected to see you on a motorcycle. You lookââ you paused, then smiled at him, âyou look cool.â
Yuuta smiled back, a little sheepish. âI work as a physical therapist. I help people with rehabilitation after injuries, surgeries⊠that sort of thing.âÂ
You considered this for a moment â and yes, it made sense. A vocation rooted in gentleness, in patience, in touch. If anyone was suited to gently coaxing people back to their bodies, it was Yuuta.
He went on, âI still like vanilla, I guess. I havenât thought of it much, but I like butterscotch lately. I ride motorcycles because theyâre cool, like you said. And because my father used to.âÂ
A small, boyish tug crossed his mouth at the thought.
âAnd I donât have a wife⊠not yet, at least. â
You laughed softly at that, not unkindly, but with something between amusement and disbelief over his sheer sincerity. A lesser person, you thought, would have parried, would have given you one answer, or would have given you none at all. Yuuta, in his way, had offered you everything you asked. It was just his nature to do so.Â
âWell, butterscotch makes sense. Theyâre practically the same,â you mused, leaning back in your chair now. Your back feels relaxed against the slope of the chair.Â
âTheyâre not,â he said quickly, not defensive so much as insistent.
âTheyâre the same,â you grin.Â
Then there was a beat. It was not awkward, but suspended rather.Â
âAnd you know,â you added lightly, âthe rest⊠Itâs good to know.â
He doesnât say anything to that. Just sort of acknowledges it the way one lets the silence do.Â
And so, the food arrived.Â
You squawked it down elegantly as you could. And Yuuta, for his part, managed to manipulate the utensils and plates on the table, quietly, to push more food toward you. Sliding dishes closer to you, turning bowls so they faced your side instead.Â
You must have eaten ten times more than he had. And you didnât complain either, not as the lightheadedness that had strained you all evening began to disappear out, leaving with each full bite.
Eventually, the plates emptied out, leaving the table looking strangely naked. And though you were full, you felt a strange emptiness in realising that the night had come to its natural end as you both made your way outside.Â
âSo,â Yuuta said, after a moment.âI can call Maki. You could stay with her tonight, if you need someplace to stay. Or⊠if you have a place, I can take you there.â
âI donâtââ You stopped yourself, almost like you were recalibrating. âI donât have a place, and I really do appreciate Makiâs offer. I probably will take it. ButâŠâÂ
Then, suddenly, you drew inward into yourself and grew shy, in a way he had never quite seen you before.Â
âI just⊠I donât know her. Iâm sure sheâs nice, but could I stay with you instead?â
His eyes grew in size over that. His apartment was small. His place is really only meant for one. But he could move, he thought. He could make space somehow.
You hurried to correct yourself. âJâjust for tonight, I mean. I feel like Iâm all over the place today.â
âOâof course,â he said, almost meekly. âI can take you to my house. For tonight.â
And so you hopped onto his bike again. The ride back became a scrunched rush of sensations â the street signs slid past you in a haze of bright flashes, the wind was needling through your clothes, the soaked weight of your wedding dress billowing against the wind. And without notice, you had managed to nuzzle further and further into Yuutaâs back, drawn by the heat. Something he didnât miss, not when the contact stopped his breath in small.
âÂ
By the time you two reached his apartment, the rain had dimmed in its volume, mere dust specks falling at an asynchronous pace.Â
Yuuta parked beneath the narrow space for parking outside his building. The engine died, and the sudden quietness settled.
For a moment, neither of you moved. Your arms were still around him.
âWeâre here,â he said softly, not daring to be the first to move.Â
You blinked, as if coming alive from a dream now, and slowly unwound yourself from him. The absence of your touch left a phantom warmth in its place. Yuuta swallowed against it and swung his leg off the bike, steadying it before offering you his hand.
You took it without hesitation, as you followed him upstairs.Â
You climbed the stairs together, your dress grabbed carelessly in one hand. It left faint damp prints all over the cemented steps. He lived on the first floor, so it wasnât much of a trek, but after the day youâve had every movement had slowly started to feel like a chore.Â
He fumbled slightly with his keys at the door and turned before opening it. âI didnât know Iâd be hosting,â he muttered, embarrassed.
You smiled as you looked down at the state of you. The brown ends of your garb, the wet hair â âI think Iâd be the last person to care about that right now, Yuuta.â
The apartment was tiny, as heâd warned you on the ride back home. A neat entryway. A quaint little kitchen to the left. A drab green sofa facing a television. A bookshelf that was, surprisingly, full â of manuals, novels, rehabilitation texts stacked in a certain order you couldnât make sense of.Â
But it was clean.
And it was warm inside.Â
âIâll uh⊠make tea. You can take a shower.â
And so, you did.Â
The bathroom was filled with steam that cleansed you whole, almost a baptism. Water ran over your scalp and down your spine, rinsing away the dayâs dirt and the rain.
When you got out of the shower, wrapped in a dim blue towel, you walked out to the sight of clothes neatly arranged on his bed.Â
You dressed slowly â donning pants that fit you just about, and a large hoodie that swallowed you whole. The fabric sat heavy and warm against your skin. It smelled faintly of detergent and something sweet that brought you comfort.
When you stepped back into the living room, he was leaning against the kitchen counter, with two mugs in his hands.
He looked up.
And then his gaze stopped. The hoodie hanging loose at your thighs. The bare legs, and then his eyes shifted away.Â
You shifted your feet to cross the room slowly.Â
âThank you,â you said, taking the mug from his hand, your fingers brushing his.
âCareful,â he murmured, watching as you brought the mug to your lips. â...Itâs hot.â
You settled onto the green sofa, tucking one leg beneath you, blowing softly over the surface of the tea. He remained where he was, leaning against the counter.
âAre you going to stand there all night?â you asked, one eyebrow arched.Â
He felt his throat tighten as he walked up to place himself beside you on the sofa, leaving a careful inch of space between the two of you â a morally measured inch.
He puts the television on, his only saviour against the awkwardness of the silence befalling. There is a channel thatâs playing a reality show of some sort â the ones that have giant balls of cushions that contestants seem to be bouncing off of. Itâs strange, but itâll do, he thinks, turning to look at you, to find you oddly invested.Â
He smiles.Â
You finish your cup eventually, placing it down on the table with a clink as you no longer seem invested in the TV but more so, his face.Â
You keep turning to stare at him, and he notices this in his periphery but canât bring himself to meet your gaze.Â
And when he finally does, moments later. âI should get the bed ready for you,â he said, already half-rising.
âDonât go,â you said, immediately as your hand closed around his.
He stops.Â
âWhat?â he had managed to breathe out.Â
Your thumb rubbed against the top of his hand. âJust stay for a bit.â
He sits, noticing how you donât let go of his hand. You seem enamoured by his hand and its anatomy, running your hands across and over it as though you were a sculptor trying to understand the shape of him.Â
He doesnât say anything, as he sits there feeling every touch of yours â it scorches against his own skin. Marking him whole.Â
âWe need to sleep,â he said as he felt your movements slowing, though his voice lacked conviction. âEventually.â
âMust we?â You tilted your head, mischief skimming over your features. âCan we not stay up all night like we used to?â
âI have work,â he says. But what he really wanted to say was heâd stay up all week for you if you had simply asked.Â
âRight,â you said, dejected if only for a moment. âIâll let you go then.â
But neither of you moved.
He doesnât say anything, but thereâs a thought, one thatâs been brimming to the surface ever since you walked into the cafe to find him.Â
âYou left your wedding,â he said, plainly.Â
âYes.â You met his eyes without flinching.
âAnd you came to me.â
âYes.â
âWhy?â
And then the room seems to contract around him.
âYuuta,â you say. His name is careful in your mouth. Delicate.Â
He waits. His pulse is unpleasantly loud in his ears.
âDonât you know why?â you said, your eyes low now.Â
Something in him breaks just then.
He breathed in before he leaned toward you. It wasnât sudden, not when he had imagined this for years despite his wits asking him not to. He stopped mere inches from you, as he waited. For you to initiate this, for you to come to him.Â
And you did â meeting his lips halfway, pulling him into a kiss. The contact was warm, your lips moved against him languidly, like you both had all the time in the world.
His hand rose at last, tentatively finding its way to what he could grab first â your waist. You drew him closer in reply, your fingers sliding upward, curling up the fabric of his t-shirt sitting on his shoulder.Â
The absurd laughter from the television carried on as you continued to kiss, tongues lapping against one another for the very first time.Â
Heâs sure this is a memory that will etch itself in his brain for eternity to come.Â
Yuuta pulled away after a moment, his lips still close enough to brush yours.Â
âAre you suââÂ
You kiss him again, firmer this time, though still tender. It is an answer, or perhaps a refusal of the question.
âSâokay,â you murmur when you part. Your forehead rests against his.
âYou left me,â he says.Â
âI did.â
âFor years.â
âI did.â
âDonât everââ He stops. His heart aches just then as he tries again. âAgainââ
âI wonât,â you say. You donât hesitate. âI wonât ever leave you again, Yuuta.â
âDonât just say that,â he warned, though his voice had softened, as though he remembered the hurt all over again.Â
âI do not,â you answered. âI missed you too much to leave you again.â
He drew you closer this time, to let your head settle beneath his chin, as his cheek rested against your hair.
âI kept thinking about you,â he says eventually. His voice vibrates faintly against your temple. âEven when I tried not to.â
âYeah?â You say. Curious, wanting to know the deep imprints you had left on him.
âYeah,â he said. âAll through college.â
âToday,â you say carefully. You hear hum in response.Â
âWhen I was getting ready, I was left alone for a moment. The moment before Iâd have to go out and walk to the altar,â you continue. âI thought that the dress I was wearing felt too tight, and I never wanted a veil, but my mother wore one, so I had to as well. And I thought about the last time I felt happy â I mean, truly happy â was when I was a teenager.â
Yuuta doesnât say anything, but you notice his arm enclosing you further into him. Heâs warm against your skin.Â
âAnd now I donât know what Iâm doing. I ran,â you said. âAnd now Iâm here with you.â
He exhales slowly, his hand moving along your arm. âYou donât have to decide everything tonight,â he says. âYou donât have to decide the rest of your life tonight.â
You tilt your head up at him. âBut I already did one big thing. Life-changing big thing.â
âYou just ran from a wedding,â he says gently.Â
A small huff of laughter leaves your mouth. âYou always did that.â
âDid what?â
âMake things less catastrophic,â you added. âThatâs part of why I ran to you today. Well, that and you know.â
âYeah,â he says plainly. He knows.Â
You shift, drawing your knees up slightly, turning toward him more fully. âAre you sure about this?â
âWhat about?â He asks, surprised.Â
âIâm a burden,â you say.Â
âYouâre never a burden,â he replies immediately.Â
âNo,â you say, your finger coming up to hush him. âListen to me, I have no skills outside of sustaining an audience of wealthy people. I have a degree that I didnât enjoy. And I donât know what Iâm doing. Iâm a burdenâ
âLike I said,â he says then. His hand comes up to brush your hair back. âYou donât have to think about that tonight. And itâs okay, Iâll take care of you until you figure things out.â
âYou think I can just⊠reappear and take up space in your life again?â You ask.
His jaw flexes. âYou already have.â
You reach up, smoothing a wrinkle near his collarbone â a meaningless gesture, an excuse to touch him again. âYouâre not angry?â
âIâm just happy youâre here with me,â he admits. He thought it was only ever possible in his dreams. Now that youâre here, it was hard to hold any resentment he had built up.Â
And you then at some point youâre helping him place the cups back as you sit and watch him make up his bed for you.
You walked up to him now.Â
âThank you,â you say, though you knew the words feel insufficient.
âOf course,â he replies quickly. âDo you need extra pilloââ
He doesnât get to finish his sentence as you suddenly inched forward to kiss him. Your hand loops around his neck as his hands find your waist. And he keeps kissing you fervently and your mind wanders, onto images of him in college kissing other girls. Itâs a silly thing â to be bothered by a version of him that you left and hurt, finding solace in other women.Â
You fall onto the bed at some point with him over you, he pulls back.Â
âSorry,â you murmur, smiling up at him. âYou were asking me something?â
He laughs, but it catches in his throat. He looks away, as if the ceiling suddenly had a large stain.
âYuuta,â you rasped. âLook at me, please.â
You moved his face to make him meet your imploring gaze. You found his expression to be open, almost boyish in its vulnerability.
âI donât know what to say,â he admits, ducking his head into your neck, away from your eye contact again, âYou make me nervousâŠâ
You run your hand through his hair, grazing up and down his nape. He likes the sensation. He thinks he could rest here forever.Â
It was safe to say that you were aware of your effect on him, whether it was physical, as you feel him against you now, or mental, but hearing it out loud is different.Â
âI make you nervous?â You ask, trying to maintain a sense of mischief in your tone, but it simmers down and is overpowered by a genuine curiosity and amazement.
âYeah,â he says, looking up at you now. âYou always have.â
At that, you scrunch your brows. Itâs a brief reflex of disbelief. âNot always. We were friends, werenât we?â
âWe were,â he says. We are. âBut you made me nervous. You just didnât see it back then. You always made me nervous.â
âWhy?â
âYou were so pretty,â he says, strangely unabashed.
âYou are,â he says, his hand lifting to brush a strand of hair from your face. His fingers linger there, grazing your temple, your cheek. âYou are pretty.â
âSo pretty,â he murmured, bending down to kiss your neck now, no doubt tomorrow youâd be blessed with flurries of red kisses all over your neck.Â
You clothes didnât last long on you after that and you soon found yourself bare atop his bedsheets as he licked and sucked his way along the vast skin he had since left exposed.Â
He was moving so languidly, but you were wound tight like the string of a bow.Â
âYuuta,â you said then, as you was leaving kissing your stomach. âYouâre good at this.â
âThanks,â he says briefly, too invested in kissing down your abdomen.Â
âNo,â you say, pulling his head up forcefully now. âYouâre really good at this. Had a lot of experience in college, did you?â
He looked up then, just with his eyes to gauge if this was a real concern or if this was you being you. Teasing.Â
âAlways knew youâd be a possessive one,â he said plainly.Â
âThe most,â you said with a pout.Â
He came back up then, kissing your cheek.
âGood,â he replied softly. âMeans you plan on keeping me this time.â
âHey,â he said again, more softly. âWas that a real question?â
You hesitated. That was answer enough.
âI dated,â he confessed simply, his arm moving to hold your hip. âA little.â Honest as always.Â
Your stomach dips.
âBut it was neverâŠâ He pauses. âIt was never you.â Honest as always, you think again.
You frown faintly. âThatâs not fair.â
âIâm not just saying this.â His thumb moves absently against your side. âI liked some of them. They were kind. But I always knew it was you.â
âReally?â
âYeah,â he affirmed plainly.Â
âAnd you?â he says then, coming back down to kiss your stomach. âYou were about to marry someone.â
That one lands, as you find him inches away from your clit.Â
You swallow.
âHe was,â you admit as he was about to press a kiss against your trembling thigh, âBoring.â
And then your knees part, your cunt is fully on display. And you donât think youâve ever felt this bare before. You watch in your own awe as Yuuta licks his lips and finally presses his mouth to your clit.
You have an instant reaction, what with the way you buck into his mouth and release a struggling moan. His thumb seems to massage your outer lips, with his tongue trailing up and down your folds.Â
His lips suction against the bundle of nerves, with his tongue caressing the nub right after. Rolling up and down as he groans into you.
You canât hold back the string of moans and whimpers that emerge from your throat, your eyes roll back into your skull, as your legs vibrate, your hands yank on Yuuta's hair, before you find your brain turn to mush.Â
He comes back up, his mouth slick as he says, âThink he could do that?â with a smirk.Â
Your hand comes up to brush your thumb along his jaw. âYouâre enjoying this far too much.â
âYou were gone for years,â he says. âThink this is the least Iâm allowed.â
âOh, is this payback then?â you ask.
âNot payback,â he says, his hand coming down to finger your slick pussy. âIf youâre enjoying this, can it be considered payback?â
âYuuta, please,â you whimpered, your hand reaching out for whatever skin of his they could find purchase in.
âPlease what?â he asked gently, kissing the corner of your mouth as your hand moved to feel his shoulder blades.
âNeed you,â you whined, turning to kiss him. You pulled back, âNow.â
âNeed me?â he repeated your words against your mouth.
You nodded.
Yuuta reached down to guide one of your legs up and bent back towards your hip, looping it to rest in the slope around his waist.
He took his cock in hand, moving up and down against your clit a couple of times before he pushed in.Â
It was a welcoming burn as he moved a couple of times before you adjusted to the sensation of him inside you.
Your hands slid up to brush against the short strands of Yuutaâs undercut.Â
âIs this okay?â He asked, then placed a soft kiss against the corner of your lips, as though soothing you through the stretch.
âMore,â you pleaded, pulling him into the crook of your neck.
Yuuta snapped his hips up hard into you, sheathing himself entirely inside of you. A moan tore out of you again.Â
âShit,â Yuuta breathed, eyes squeezing shut as he kept moving. âYouâre so pretty.â
You trembled beneath him, your eyes drawing down to the sight of him pulling in and out, in and out, you were mesmerised at the sight of him, sweat sheening as he looked so vulnerable for you.
He set a rhythmic, steady pace, it was almost languid. His movements werenât quick, but rather, they were deep, pressing you down into the mattress so hard with every move of his hips.
His thumb came down to brush against your clit, gently at first and then a little firmer when he saw the way it made your expression go glassy and unfocused.Â
âIâm gonna come,â you declared. âKiss me.â
And so he did, bending down as he kept his movements steady, kissing you deeply.Â
ââm close too,â he groaned against your lips now, coming up to brush another unfocused kiss against your forehead, as his panting breaths caught on.Â
And then you came, your legs trembling as he kept moving. Soon after, he did too, craning down to crash his mouth to yours, his hips stuttering.
Yuuta collapsed beside you, catching his breath as you moved to fall onto his bare chest. Like clockwork, his arms gathered you against him, slowly then drawing circles against your back.
The adrenaline that carried you through the evening has finally begun to dissipate, leaving only a heavy drowsiness in its wake.
Your head droops heavy against his chest.
âYouâre exhausted,â he murmurs.
You shake your head weakly in protest. Your fingers have slowed against him. Your breathing has deepened.
âI donât want to sleep,â you admit softly. âI want to stay up and talk to you all night.â
âThereâs always tomorrow,â he replied, voice mirroring your softness, as the circles on your back never falter.
You swallowed.
âI feel like if I close my eyes, Iâll wake up back there.â
He didnât hesitate. âYou wonât.â
âYou donât know that.â
âI do.â His hand flattened briefly against your spine, firm. Present. âYouâll wake up tomorrow to a tray full of breakfast and some flowers.â
That made you lift your head. Just enough to look at him.
âYouâre getting me flowers?â You smiled.
âYeah,â he said. âNow that weâreâŠâ he trailed off, still too timid to admit it.
You tilted your head. âDating?â
ââŠYeah.â The word came out softer than before. âIâll buy you flowers every day.â
A tired laugh slipped out of you, warm against his skin.
âThatâs a bit much,â you murmured, shifting so you could see the small, earnest curve of his mouth.
âOh?â he said, one brow lifting. âThought that was the kind of treatment princess was used to.â
You reached up, brushing your fingers along his jaw before leaning in to press a slow kiss to his lips.
âPrincess will settle for kisses every day for now,â you said against him. âIf thatâs okay.â
He hummed softly, the sound vibrating beneath your cheek as you settled back down. His arms tightened, just slightly, as you listened to his heartbeat.
And when your eyes finally closed, he was still drawing circles on your back.

âHEAR ME OUT childhood friends reader and megumi where he's like a year or 2 younger than her and so she just kinda never takes him seriously even when they're both a lot older now and also despite megumi's crush on her and wanting to be seen not as the baby boy next door but as a proper man now,, read this somewhere on Tumbir and it's got me insane maybe a bit spicy if you don't mind đđâ
boy next door
a/n: bro iâm so mad i accidentally posted the unfinished fic then couldnât edit it so i had to delete it but that was the request from an anon. +++ iâm so sorry for my decrease in quality of my work iâve noticed it too and iâm currently flopping so hard but this past month has actually been hell for me please bear with me iâm really trying here
you had known megumi for years, since you were children actually. he lived next door to you, along with his older sister tsumiki. you were never particularly close with megumi, you spoke with tsumiki often despite you being the year above her in school.
megumi was two years younger than you, you often saw him as more of a baby rather than a friend. he never directly spoke with you unless he had toâhell he barely even spoke to tsumiki.
but you would always catch his sideways glances whenever the three of you would walk to and from school, how he hid behind his father and just stared at you whenever your mother sent you to drop off some food.
it was obvious that he had a puppy crush on you, he was always asking tsumiki about you, begging his parents to bring him over to your house just to say hi. however, for the most part megumi barely crossed your mind, he was still a baby to you.
as you two grew megumiâs puppy crush faded into something more passionate. he began to almost beg for your attention, constantly getting into fights in an attempt to impress you, or trying to catch your eye while walking past you in the hallways.
throughout middle and high school megumi seemed to just become more determined to get you to notice him, albeit still making sure to keep his nonchalant composure. heâd scoff whenever you teased him, yet the tips of his ears turning pink would often give away him flustered interior.
you continued to stay oblivious to his feelings, ruffling his hair and cooing at him whenever heâd try to involve himself in your self proclaimed âbig kid talkâ with your classmates at lunch.
however, as the years went on you and tsumiki grew apart, you began to focus more on college rather than hanging out at her place which meant that megumi got to see less and less of you by the day.
eventually you moved out, leaving behind everything, leaving behind megumi.
he pretended not to care, heâd scoff whenever tsumiki teased him about you, but at night when he was aloneâmegumi only thought of you.
you slowly started to fade from his mind, exams and college taking your place in his brain. though, occasionally on holidays heâd catch a glimpse of you from his window, your bright smile, the way your body shook as you laughed. everything would come flooding back in those moments.
when megumi finally moved out for college the last thing he expected to see was you, right in the middle of the corridor to his dorm. when you saw him your face lit up, âmegumi! oh my gosh, how are you already at college? you were just a baby yesterday.â
you began to ruffle his hair in that familiar way he pretended to hate, your voice light, joyful as you greeted him. your friends trailed behind you, giggling amongst themselves as they watched you fawn over megumi.
âquit it, iâm not a kid anymore.â he nudged you off of him, hand coming up to fix his hair while you apologised under your breath. it was awkward for a moment before you spoke up again, âso uh, whatâre you here for?â
he blinked at you, temporarily losing himself in your eyes before blinking back into reality. âoh right um business and economics.â you beamed at his words, clapping your hands together before replying, âgreat! iâm doing that too, i can help you with it, just like how i used to tutor you.â
you grinned at him, smile so tender he almost melted. megumi nodded at your words, bowing his head as to not let you see the blush creeping up his cheeks.
before he could speak up again you were waving him goodbye, your friends dragging you along to some bar for a last drink before classes start.
megumi sighed to himself, would you ever see him as someone other than the little boy next door.
weeks had passed since the semester started and unfortunately megumi was already behind on classes. he had to muster up every ounce of courage to ask you to help him out, and it took every bit of strength in him not to snap at you when you cooed about how youâd always be happy to help your underclassman.
now he was sat at his desk, you were leaning over himâwhich in his opinion was very provocative, or maybe he was just way too whipped. you were hunched over his shoulder, tits practically in his face as you pointed at the laptop screen.
âdo you get it now?â your voice cut through his thoughts, snapping back to the tutoring session. âuh sureâŠâ he voice was unsteady, eyes uncontrollably flickering between your tits and the laptop. you cocked a brow at his unsure tone, leaning in closer as if to intimidate him.
you leaned back, plopping yourself down on his bed. âmegs, whatâs up with you lately? you seem⊠weirder than you were before.â he only groans in response, annoyance evident in his tone. âmaybe youâll find out when you quit treating me like a child.â he spits back before he could stop himself.
time seems to freeze for a split second, both of you just stare at each other as megumiâs outburst sinks in. he speaks up first, âiâve liked you since we were kids and all youâve ever done is treat me like some baby! iâm an adult now for gods sake, treat me like one!â
the confession tumbles from his mouth without him even realising. you blink at him, mouth slightly agape as it dawns in your. âthatâs why you were so weirdâŠâ you mumble almost to yourself. megumi groans again, leaning back against the chair.
an awkward silence falls over the two of you before megumi abruptly stands up and strides over to you. suddenly heâs leaning over you, breath ghosting your cheek. âplease tell me you want me too.â his voice is barely above a whisper, heâs desperate, pleading with you.
your breath stutters, eyes flickering over his face, suddenly heâs leaning doesnât look like the younger boy he used to be. megumiâs facial structure has changed, heâs more mature, his hair frames his face beautifully, jaw sharp and eyes dark with something you donât recognise.
as if moving on their own your hands reach forward to grip onto his shoulders before pulling him down to kiss you. his mouth moves messily against your own, taller body hunched over your own as he climbs onto the bed and on top of you.
he breaks away first, breathing heavy as he stares down at you. you catch a faint smile grace his lips, âis this your wet dream or something?â you joke, a playful slap landing on his chest. he rolls his eyes at your comment, eyes softening a fraction.
he mumbles a small âshut upâ before pressing his lips against yours once again. his body pressed against your own, legs moving to bracket your own as he lost himself in you. âwait, megs hold on.â you lightly pushed him off of you, sitting up on your elbows to look at him.
âhave you done anything before?â your question was genuine, worry flashing behind your eyes as you stared up at him. sheepishly he shook his head, a faint pink hue dusting his cheeks. you smiled at him, hand reaching up to brush hair from his forehead.
âwe donât have to do anything, i donât want to rush you.â your voice was tender, knuckles stroking his cheek as he nibbled in his bottom lip. âjust let me taste you.â his voice was horse with need, hands coming down to hold you by your waist. you let out a shaky breath at his words, your own sentence catching in your throat as he leaned down to nip at your neck.
âplease, iâve been waiting for so long.â his words were muffled by your skin, his hands squeezing your hips as if to persuade you. âmegs iââ he cut you off with a small bite to your shoulder, âitâs all i ask.â his voice was even smaller now, almost as if it was painful.
you sighed, giving into his begs. you felt him smile against yours once again skin, hands already working to remove your bottoms. you squeaked as he swiftly pulled them down your legs along with your underwear.
megumi moved himself onto the floor, your legs now positioned on his shoulders as he pulled you by your hips, lower body dangling off the bed. âmegumi!â you squeaked into the air as he wraooed his hands around your thighs.
he grinned up at you, tongue poking out to wet his lips before diving in. without warning his tongue licked a broad stripe up your cunt, an embarrassingly loud moan escaping you at the contact. he moved his tongue against you messily, unpractised yet delicate.
megumiâs lips hesitantly closed around you clit, a low whimper leaving your lips at the contact. âkeep going, right there.â you reached down, fingers lacing into his hair causing him to groan against you. the vibrations went right up your core, sparking yo your spine.
you arched off of the bed as megumi started to suck on your clit, tongue flicking messily at the bud. you writhed on the sheets, body convulsing as he pushed you towards your peak. his grip on your thighs tightened, tongue moving back to flick at your slick, gathering it up before spitting it back into you.
a lewd moan echoed off the walls at his action, your hands pushing his face further into your pussy. his nose bumped against your clit, tongue moving to push inside of you. you pulled megumiâs hair harder, moans spilling from your lips as his tongue worked you open.
âmegsâshitâyou sure this i-is your first time?â
he hummed against you, taking your clit into his mouth again before nodding his head earning another mewl form you. your legs locked around his head, keeping him right where you needed him most.
you shook beneath him, body shaking as you neared your orgasm. megumi had started to rut his hips into the side of your bed, body searching for some form of relief as he sucked at your clit. âoh shit, iâm cumming.â
your words egged him on, mouth even lore determined now as he hollowed out his cheeks, eyes locked on the way your face contorted as you came into his mouth, slick dripping from your entrance as he greedily lapped it all up. chin soaked in your slick when he finally came up for air.
you laughed at the sight, his disheveled look foreign to you. âwell shitânow i have to return the favour, donât i?â you sat up, motioning for him to come join you on the bed. megumi sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck before replying. âuh i think iâm good, i got my fill.â

âiâll do an underhand toss so you can catch it baby.â
âno gumi.â you pointed a silly finger at him, wagging it with a quirk to the brow. âdonât go easy on me i can handle it. if i canât catch a ball what the hell am i gonna do with cheerleading.â
megumi snorted, a little smile of amusement on his face as he moved a leg behind and planted his foot on the dirt, reeling his arm back with the ball in hand.
âyou ready?â
âyes.â you blurted. âwaitâ no? wait yes! waitââ you slapped a hand over your forehead and groaned.
âiâm not cut out for cheerleading man...â you mumbled, gaze trailing down as you fiddled with your gloved hand. âtheyâre gonna eat me alive⊠and then tell me i taste nasty⊠and then spit me outââ
âbaby i think baseball and cheerleading are two different things.â he chuckled softly, a soft glint of humor in his eye as he straightened up and gently beckoned you over with a nudge of his head, you slumping to him with dragging feet and trying not to audibly scream at how godly your man looked in his baseball uniform right now, all scuffed up and dirty from practice, with his spiky locks peeking underneath his cap and sweaty glistening delicious foreheadâ
megumi squished your cheeks together and pecked your lips, tilting your face up a little to grab your gaze.
âyouâll be fine. i promise.â he spoke lowly, eyes directly on you as your heart fluttered over his kind reassurance. âdonât worry too much about it tonight please⊠youâll lose sleep.â
auditions for the nfl cheer team were tomorrow morning, and you and your best friend had been absolutely shitting it over the fact, spending every waking moment since the halloween party screaming and scrambling around trying to learn and perfect the required choreography before the big day, both megumi and yuji standing back with blinking big dumb eyes as they watched the two of you rehearse the number over and over, falling to your knees and borderline sobbing anytime either of you messed up a certain step.
they often had to wipe your blubbering fat tears while avoiding accidentally ticking you off at the same time, as it had happened one too many times already over something unhelpful they said.
yuji and megumi had been living in fear for a week straight.
and since the two of you got along so well with the cheer team at the halloween party, the captain specifically, you knew that them giving you the shining privilege of skipping straight through to the final stages of auditions wasnât something that they just did for anyone they happened to come across, and the thought only made you and your girl friend sick with anxiety over you both potentially embarrassing yourselves, and deflating the sparkling impression they all had of you that you so drunkenly happened to curate.
âi donât think iâm gonna get much sleep anyways gumiâŠâ you moped, your anxious little doe eyes softening his heart as they looked at him. âiâm planning on practicing the choreo all night until i pass out from exhaustion.â
he stared at you bewildered.
âno baby youâre not doing that.â Â
âand why not?â you pouted. âiâve done it before! sometimes i make fan edits of you playing ball until four am whatâs the difference.â
his eyes widened and he burst out laughing, cheeks going pink as he delicately let your face go and nudged your forehead with his finger through your giggles.
âdummy.â he mumbled. âi told you to stop doing that.â
âi know iâm sorry i relapsed...â you whined, a little mischievous silly grin growing on your face then as you wiggled your brows at him. âbut if you flash me iâll cut down to two am!ââ
âoh my godââ
you giggled hard at his pinky cheeks that increased in shade before your very eyes the more you kept talking, him shamelessly enjoying every second of it as he raised a hand and softly pinched your little cheek.
âsilly girl.â he mumbled. âyouâre sleeping over at my place tonight.â
you gasped, heart filled gaze twinkling up at him as you bounced on your toes and vigorously nodded, the corners of his lips quirking up at the sight.
âactually?!â you gushed. âiâd love to guuumiii! oh thank god because i was gonna lose my fucking mind tonight if i didnât have some sort of supervisionââ
megumi was more than well aware of exactly how much you sweetly supported him through every aspect of his career endeavors, you in attendance to practically everythingâ his games, select team meetings, banquets, practicesâ something that was an absolute precious privilege for him to have and a factor he didnât take lightly in the slightest.
he cherished it, wholeheartedly and deeply as he subconsciously looked for you and hoped for your bubbling self in positively every event he had, and the absence of your presence being abundantly obvious any time you rarely couldnât make it to something of his due to school or a family event that clashed with his scheduling, spending the entirety of whatever commitment he had bored out of his mind as a result, missing important information because he kept silently thinking about your pretty face, itching to get back to you any chance he could.
and he wanted to do the exact same for you.
he wanted to be at every cheer event, every game, every meeting, every rehearsal without fail and give back the warm support you had showed him throughout your entire relationship, and he hoped with every fiber of his grumpy being that you and your best friend did make it on the team, for he knew and felt how bad you actually wanted it despite your silly poor attempts at hiding it.
he knew itâd make you happy. and he wanted more than anything for you to be happy.
ââ and iâm still gonna rehearse âtill i drop though i donât care if youâre shirtless and your gorgeous tits are in my faceââÂ
âbaby.â
âyes.â you blurted, smiling up at him so sweetly that he nearly forgot the absurd statement that just came out of your mouth.
âi have no doubt in my mind that youâre gonna make it on the team... because you will.â
your face softened, gently tilting your head to the side.
âyou think so gumi?â
âmhm.â
âand how does my cool baseball man know that? hmm?â
he pinched your side and you squirmed away with a laugh.Â
âbecause i just do.â he mumbled. âtrust me... okay?â
the biggest smile flashed across your face then, eyes glowing and you utterly lovesick as you looked at your boyfriendâs handsome gentle face, the faith he had in you so contagious that you couldnât help but let it in your overthinking mind and believe it, for he was quite literally the only one who could break through your stubborn brain and ease your worries until they were next to nothing and silly.
you giddily jumped in his arms then and he quickly caught you with a surprised oof, your legs wrapping around his waist and arms around his head as you squeezed the side of his face into your chest through your gushing, megumiâs neck growing hot at the way your puffy boobs squished up against his cheek, a sneaky smile slowly playing at his lips as he hoisted you up and tried not to let his dick swell up.
âyouâre so sweet gumi thank youuu!â you gushed, pulling back and peppering kisses all over his face as he laughed, the warmth in his chest at your affection so fuzzy and addicting that his insides completely melted over and oozed everywhere else.
âyouâre welcome.â he murmured. âdo you feel better?â
âi do baby!â you beamed, ever so gently running your thumbs over his warm cheeks as he looked up at you. âand i have no doubt in my mind that youâre gonna win the world series... again!â
he chuckled and softly pecked the side of your neck.
âi hope so. if not iâm gonna have to deal with yuji crying and screaming in my ear about how weâve âlost our touchâ or whatever the fuck.â
you laughed.
âi think iâm gonna be crying and screaming in your ear if i donât make the cheer team gumi...â you muttered, wringing your arms around his neck and mushing the side of your face to his. âiâm no better than yuji...â
âyeah but i love you not himââ
âheyyyuuhhh!âÂ
you both jumped and snapped your heads around, your face lighting up at the sight of yuji and your girl friend walking across the field over to you, megumi rolling his eyes at being interrupted like always and never seeming to have a moment alone with you so long as they were there, giving the back of your thighs a gentle squeeze before carefully setting you down.
âyou donât love me man?â yuji pouted. âafter everything weâve been through? after every home run and squabble? every loss? every shower?ââ
you and your best friend cackled as megumi tossed both his and your gloves on the dirt, scowling with narrowed eyes.
âno idiotââ
âbut why?!ââ
âbecause youâre annoyingââ
ââahh silly silly men.â your girl friend sighed with a shake of the head and turning to you, her absolute done expression making you laugh as you nodded in agreement, you extending an arm out then to engulf her in a snuggling hug that she happily reciprocated.
âhow you feeling babe? yu and i were just about to leave but i wanted to come say bye real quick.â she gave you an affectionate squeeze, the two of you swaying side to side and silently on the verge of bursting on the inside. âare you as sick as i am? hah⊠do we want to have another meltdown? or are we saving it for tomorrow morning in the parking lotââ
ââlisten i know iâm no y/n but i thought you somewhat loved me man!ââ
ââshut upââ
âoh iâm about to lose my fucking mind now girl.â you breathed out, fingers digging in the strands of your hair as you rapidly shook your head side to side. âwhat did weâ what did we even say that night? why did they like us so much? when didâ howââ
your best friend was quick to mirror youâ quickly shaking her head while throwing her hands up in confused emphasis at what you were saying, taking no time at all to match your energy as she let herself explode and heave with you, pupils blown out as she grabbed both your wrists then and clutched them like a lifeline.
âoh god i donât know i wasââ she dryly swallowed. âi was too busy fake arresting yuji in the bathroom after that iâ i forgot to log what they said in my brain!ââ
yuji and megumiâs bickering slowly seized at the sound of your commencing hysterics, staring wide eyed and bewildered.
ââwhy did i have so many freaking bamboo shots oh my god?!â you panted, hands breaking out of her hold to grip and yank at her shoulders. âi donât remember anything oh my god all i remember was that iâ i had a blue hawaiian and there was some bitch named hana and then i was upstairs on my knees with my hands tied behind my back gettingââ
ââbaby please donât finish thatââ
âfuck wait! whatâ what time is call time tomorrow?!â your girl friend cried out, cutting a flustered megumi off. âwas it six am? seven?!ââ
âno iâ i think it was nine! or was itâ was it ten?!ââ
âtwelve?!â
âFUCK!ââ
with one look, both men simultaneously decided to wring you two apart and pick you upâ megumi grabbing you by the thighs and throwing you over his shoulder as you squealed, and yuji scooping your yelling best friend up bridal style while the two of them backed away from each other, feet dragging against the dirt as you and your girl friend squirmed and wiggled in their grasps.
âdown gumi down!ââ
ânope.â
âyou guys cannot be together until tomorrow morning.â yuji giggled boyishly, actively wrestling with your girl friend as she fought against his hold. âor youâre gonnaâ keep setting each other off andâ blow up before even getting to auditionsâ HAH BABE! hands off the goods not in front of the peopleââ
âyeah but if i blow up that means i donât have to go.â your miserable soft voice spoke up from behind, megumi huffing out a laugh and raising a hand to pinch at your side, eliciting a thrash and cute giggle from you in response that he was hoping for.
âyouâre going baby.â he spoke gently to you. âand call time is at eight am.â
yuji and megumi started making their way across the empty field with their respective ladies in their arms, through the warm setting sunâ out the gates and down the familiar main echoey tunnel that led to the teamâs locker rooms, your man stopping just outside the double doors and turning his body to the side so you could properly bid your friends goodbye from behind.
âbring y/n down here megumi youâre hogging her and i need to give her a farewell smooch.â your best friend spat, you giggling as megumi rolled his eyes and turned his back, bending down a little until you were eye level with her.
you happily extended your arms out and wrapped each other up in tight hugs, exchanging silly cheek kisses with exaggerated mwahâs! before you both pulled apart.
âiâll see you tomorrow babe okay?â you smiled kindly at her, and she nodded.
âyes! you staying over at freakâs place tonight?â
she snickered and you flicked her in the forehead, shooting her a playful look as she whined and rubbed over the stinging spot.
âfineâ are you staying at fushiguroâs place tonight⊠you likey better?â
âyup yup!ââ
âfreak fushiguroââ
you smacked her in the shoulder this time and she laughed, quickly reaching out again to wring you back into a secure hug, both men trying to balance your sudden movements and avoid accidentally dropping you.
âiâm sorry i love you iâm done iâm done!â she tumbled out. âbut i assume you are⊠right?â
you chuckled in her hold. âi am! heâs supervising me for the night and making sure i donât go insane.â
your girl friend perked up.
âouuu supervision i see?â she wiggled her brows. âand does this supervision perhaps entail sexy freaky time with your plump tits in megumiâs faceâ HEY!â
megumi had sharply spun you back around and ripped you away until it was him facing her instead, a look of stern twitching agitation on his face as he broodingly looked down at her.
âwhat is wrong with you.â
âgive me back my woman i wasnât done talking to her!â
âstop with your weird fucking questions then.â
she offendedly gasped. Â
âtheyâre not weird! theyâre informational and i have every right to know if my best friend is potentially getting mauled by you tonight.â
he scowled. âhow the hell is that your rightââ
âbecause i need to know if youâre gonna be a parasite on her neck so i can at least bring a fucking ice pack tomorrow!â yu tell himââ
yuji snapped his head up from momentarily dozing off. âHUH? what happenââ
âokay!â you laughed from behind, wiggling and angling your body to try and look at her from your bent over position, megumi hiking you up a little further on his shoulder before begrudgingly turning back around so you could face your irritating girl friend again.
âtomorrow.â you grabbed her hand and held it with a squeeze, a cheeky smile etched on your lips. âitâll be fine babe! weâll be okay we just have to do a few shimmies and pirouettes and jump kicks and splits! thatâs it!â
ârâ right!â she exclaimed with a nod. âand then just do all that while traveling like fifty yards across the field! but thatâs fine right? weâll be alright?â
âuh huh!â you nodded. âand then just do a kick line with the rest of the cheerleaders for like a minute straight before doing the jump split! itâs not that bad.â
âexactly!â Â
a moment of silence settled between the lot of you, the both of you blinking at each otherâ expressions unreadable.
âi think i forgot the fucking routine.â you blurted.
âi forgot how to do the jump split!â she burst out. âandâ and we just practiced this morning and i already forgotââ
you gawked. âoh my god?! i forgot too i forgot too!ââ
âshit! we have to practice and we have to practice nowââ
ââweâre gonna be the biggest fuck ups on the entire team oh jesusââ
ââalright youâre done.â
yuji and megumi wretched you both apart then amidst your frantic blubbering once more, your interlaced hands slipping away as you whined and thrashed again in their holds.
âno gumi you donât get it you donât understand iâm about to embarrass myself and i need to be your cheerleader wife!ââ
you flailed your legs out and megumi was quick to lock his arms around them to keep them still, a tiny quirk to his mouth as he amusedly watched you fidget and grumble, turning around to face yuji.
âiâll see you later man.â yuji chuckled, readjusting your girl friend as she writhed around and fought him, though eventually accepting defeatâ huffing with crossed arms over his strong grip. âor weâre actually gonna be here all night watching them lose it.â
megumi curtly nodded and placed a hand on the locker room door handle, pushing it open and stepping a foot inside.
âbye.â
âwait! do you actually not love meââ
âbye.â
the locker room door slammed shut behind you both and you giggled, your legs absentmindedly swinging as he brought you around the spacious room and to the bench nearest to his locker, gently setting you down and planting his hands on either sides of you where you sat, his face close to yours.
ây/n.â
âyes gumi?â you smiled kindly.
âwhat is it gonna take for you to believe me when i say youâre gonna be fine.â
you pondered for a moment, eyes looking up before a cheeky grin settled, tilting your head to the side and peering up at him.
âa kith.â
a close-lipped smile slowly grew on his face as he leaned in, lips softly pressing to yours and deepening with every move of your wet mouths folding and smacking, megumi taking a deep breath in through his nose as he dipped in further and devoured your plushy lips, the blood in his veins pumping as you kissed him back with just as much need as him that he contemplated if it was a good idea for him to justâ slip a hand up your top and feel your boobs for a little bit⊠Â
âgumi.â you mumbled in between kisses.
âuh huhââ he breathed out in your mouth, hot misty air fanning across your face as you lip locked. âyou okay?ââ
âsqueeze my tit please.â
he choked against your lips and pulled away, chuckling softly at the fact that your little brain was funnily thinking the same thing he was, but ultimately shutting the idea down once his hazy mind was met with a bit of clarity from your tiny steamy make out session, the matter at hand resurfacing as he looked at you with soft serious eyes.
âi would pretty baby.â he murmured. âbut then iâll get hard.â
you giggled and poked his cheek.
âthatâs the point.â you emphasized. âand me thinks you should perhaps get your big dick out and let it live and breathe.â
laughing some more, he shook his head and stood upright, stepping around the bench to get to his locker and tugging it open to pull out his duffel bag, taking his cap off and hanging it on a small hook inside. Â
âwhat?!â you pouted. âmaaaann i thought we were about to do it in hereâŠâ
the idea was extremely and agonizingly enticing to him, one he wouldnât even think twice about or take anything at all from you to convince him and have you trapped against the lockers with his cock stuffed in you⊠but the fact of how nervous you were about auditions tomorrow forced him to put his horny sick thoughts away for onceâ wanting you to stay focused, rest up, and get as much sleep as you possibly could instead of feeling sore in the morning because he couldnât keep his fucking dick in his pants.
which was also almost embarrassingly never when it came to you, even after blessedly being together for two years and counting.
âitâs getting late baby⊠i want you to get enough sleep for tomorrow.â he unplucked the last button of his jersey before shrugging it off, you extending a hand out to gently take it from him thenâ neatly folding it over and setting it down on your lap as he changed out of the rest of his uniform.
âbut i told you gumi i still have to rehearse for a little bit at your place regardlessâŠâ you mumbled, your index finger absentmindedly tracing over the patched logo of his team on his jersey. âhow else am i supposed to be your cheerleader wifeâŠâ
he pulled a clean shirt over his head and sighed softly through his nose, closing his locker and moving a few steps over to take a seat next to you on the opposite side of the bench, shoulder to shoulder with you as he tucked some of your hair behind your ear.
âyou are that regardless.â he spoke lowly, gently. âi donât need you to be a cheerleader for me to see you that way⊠you know that.â Â
your cheeks flared as you looked down, your heart thumping over his tender sweetness that you never got enough of no matter how many times he had kindly shown it to you, you absolutely giddy over the reminder that he saw a complete future with you as his wife, even if he had already made it very clear to you just a week prior.
it was still so lovely to hear again all the same.
he lightly nudged at the promise ring on your finger and you laughed softly, your eyes gradually lifting to finally make eye contact with him, shining and hopeful as you nodded and kissed his cheek.
âthank you gumi.â you nearly whispered. âfor always being there for me.â
in comparison to everything you had ever done for him throughout the course of your relationship, he felt his efforts were nothing against yours as you had done way more than just be there for himâ above and fucking beyond actually⊠but his chest utterly warmed over anyways at your unbelieving kindness and gratitude over something so small. over the bare minimum of what it was to be your boyfriend.
you never expected much from anyone and got excited over the silliest of things⊠and it never failed to make megumi justâ fall. Â
time and time again without needing much but a look from you for him to do so.
âi love you.â he mumbled, and you melted, your foreheads coming to rest against each otherâs thenâ eyelids gradually closing as you relished in what it was to be together and happy and peaceful.
âi love you baby.â you murmured softly. âvery very much.â
âmore than coffee cake?â
the cute bundles of laughter you let out then made megumi wholeheartedly smile, teeth and all as his forehead detached from yours so he could see for himself what it looked like.
you puffed a breath out and shook your head, shrugging. âi donât know man⊠thatâs a tough one⊠but if you flashed me like i asked earlier maybe the answer will come to meââ
his eyes narrowed as he pinched at your side, you squealing and moving your torso to and fro in attempts at dodging his repeating tries until he wrapped an arm around your waist to trap you, pulling you in flush against his chest as you giggled through his continued pinches.
craning his neck down he gnawed at your cheek in response, you gasping and wiggling at the tickling feeling as you pushed on his chest to try and get away.
âitâs a prank! itâs a prank i love you so so much more than coffee cake!ââ
âswear it.â
âi swear!ââ
megumi didnât think heâd ever seen you this nervous before.
because watching you get ready for auditions the following morningâ kissing him awake, packing your things in your duffel bag, doing your makeup and styling your hair, brushing your teeth, preparing the smallest and quickest breakfast he had ever seen you prepare in his life (and offering way more for him than yourself), slipping on your required sparkly navy blue athletic uniformâ
you were just⊠quiet. barely speaking at all and only doing so when he spoke to you first or asked you a question, his apartment that was usually filled and bouncing with your chatter about anything under the sun, now still and borderline eerie as his eyes remained permanently trained on you as you moved around his place, softly muttering to yourself about something that youâd forgotten or reciting steps from your routine to better solidify it.
and it worried him.
âyou sure you donât want me to make you a little piece of toast like mine gumi?â you kindly offered, slathering on a thin layer of strawberry jam on your slice of bread. âi could even add banana slices to it?â
why werenât you adding banana slices to yours. Â
you were barely eating anythingâŠ
âno mâokay baby thank you.â he murmured, and you turned your head in his directionâ your gaze softening at the sight of his sleepy handsome face as he rubbed over an eye with his fist, a black shiny coffee mug in hand as he leaned against the kitchen island next to you.
you stood on your tippy toes and pressed a cute peck to his cheek, the act waking him up a little more as his gaze flickered down to yours with a small drowsy smile, him lifting a hand and placing it on top of your headâ giving it a little rub.
âare you okay.â
âmhm!â you quickly nodded, lying. âiâm almost ready too i just need to pack a few more things.â
he held your gaze for a moment before lightly moving your head closer by his hand and kissing your temple, arm dropping after as he pushed himself off the counter and wordlessly left the kitchen, leaving you there in your blundering thoughts as you swallowed the thick lump in your throat, the smallest bit of appetite that youâd curated during your time getting ready flying out the window the longer you stood there silently by yourself.
each training day for auditions was like fighting for your life, as the coaches watched over each and every single girl like hawks and critiqued not only their actual technique, but their stamina, their looks, how well they fit on the already existing team, how well they upheld their sparkling pristine image, and even their media training skills as they were often interviewed and scouted by sports channels during various nfl games about questions pertaining to the current season, the exposure only worsening the closer the cheer teamâs football players got to the super bowl.
which is why the coaches strongly emphasized on character at times rather than technique from the articles youâd read.
you figured this was the sole reason why you and your best friend were able to skip over the preliminary rounds and straight to training camp in the first place, because of the good word the captain had put in for you.
and you didnât know if you could go on with your life if you managed to fuck it up and embarrass yourself by getting eliminated on the first dayâŠ
pursing your lips, you set your piece of uneaten toast down on your plate and nudged it off to the side, grabbing your jacket from a nearby barstool and padding your way out of the kitchen to the living room, you so caught up in your loud idiot head that you almost didnât notice the way your things were neatly set down and ready for you on the couchâ your duffel bag zipped up, your water bottle filled and tucked snug in the pockets of your bag, your clean white sneakers side by side on the floor, and megumiâ sitting down next to your things and head snapping up upon hearing you come in, clicking his phone off and getting up off the couch.
âyou got my things for me gumi..?â you murmured, your cheeks quickly going pink as you put your shoes on.
âyeah.â he grabbed the strap of your duffel bag and swung it over his shoulder, sliding his keys off the coffee table before extending a hand out for you, the other on the front door handle. âyou ready?â
you grinned and took his awaiting hand. âto get sent home? yup!â
he playfully rolled his eyes and lead you out of his apartment to his car, him hoping that the little bit of help eased your nerves a bit as he popped open the trunk and set your stuff inside, the cool of the early morning air brushing through your skin and sending a shiver up your spine, you hurriedly getting in the car to get out of its frosty nipping as your boyfriend slammed the trunk shut and made his way around to the drivers seat, sliding in and closing the door.
âsâcold.â he mumbled, pressing the sleek âstartâ button on his dash and igniting the engine to life, swiftly cranking up the intensity and temperature of the heater. âdid you bring a jacket?â
âi did!â you reached into the backseat and grabbed it, showing it to him as he leaned over then to buckle your seatbelt for you. Â
and when he clicked it secure, he paused, brows furrowing the tiniest bit as he looked at it.
âitâs thin baby.â he settled back in his seat and shifted the gear to reverse, pulling out of his parking space and zooming through the structure until he made it out on the streets. âtake mine once we get there.â
âwhaââ you gawked. âno gumi itâs okay! please donât youâll be coldâŠâ
âiâm in a car with a heater.â he deadpanned. âyouâre gonna be outside for most of the day on the field⊠take my jacket please.â
you grumbled and shifted your body to face the window.
you saw his eyes narrow at your change of position from the corner of your eyes, and you pursed your lips, holding back your snickers for the sake of your pride as he drove.
âturn back around.â he mumbled, making a left. âand youâre still taking my jacket.â
ânuh uh youâre so funny gumi to think that iâd ever listenââ Â
âyouâre taking it.â
âno.â
ây/n.â
ânopeity nope nopââ
he leaned over across the console and bit down on your cheek just as soon as he came to a red light, you squealing and squirming away in response as he leaned back in his seat and looked at your widened blinking eyes.
âpervert.â
he laughed at your dramatics and settled a palm over your bare thigh, giving it a gentle pull in his direction as a silly smile creeped up your lips then, shifting back over to face him and placing your own hand over his as he drove on.
much to megumiâs hope of relieving some more of your anxiety throughout the car rideâ making small chats about your plans together for the weekend, soft sporadic pecks to your wrists and cheeks, or any little thing he could possibly think of to get you to just talk to him like you usually did⊠was all proven to be ineffective with the way you still sat in silence and looked out the window, switching between subconsciously picking at your nails or bouncing your knee or fiddling with the ends of your hair, not a peep out of your pretty mouth that he had been subtly trying to get moving all morning.
megumi loved how much you talked⊠and he very much disliked it when you didnât, as the abnormal silence reminded him of a time in his life where he didnât have you yet.
âare we on time?â he spoke up, taking a quick glance over at you as you snapped your head in his direction from the window, nodding.
âyes! i made sure to have thirty minutes of wiggle room heh.â
he hummed in acknowledgment. âhow come.â
âso i have time to cry in the bathroom.â
he shot you a look and you laughed, your gaze shifting ahead to see that he was already pulling up to the football stadium, a chill shooting up your spine in response as you tried to not let your breathing go unsteady and make your nerves worse than they already were, your palms clamming up as you tucked a stray strand of hair behind you ear and told yourself not to be a fucking crybaby for once.
âjust here at the front..?â
âmhm!â
he glanced at you for a quick moment and swallowed, looping around the parking lot until he found a space just by the main entrance, slowly pulling in and shifting his gear into park once he was settled.
you thought it was ironic that something youâd only ever dreamed of having before, spending years fangirling and following after one of the nflâs most reputable cheer teams, admiring all that they did and never once actually thinking you could ever be in their shoesâ the opportunity glimmering and exciting and right within arms reach⊠was the very same thing you were utterly terrified of⊠hesitant as you annoyingly remained seated in megumiâs passenger seat, agitated with yourself that you couldnât just get your shit together and get out of the car.
you felt your manâs fingers slip through and interlace with yours, him bringing the back of your hand up to his lips and giving it a gentle lingering kiss, your heart fluttering at the sight as he lowered and set your locked hands over his lap, you looking at him with a little smile.
âback when i first tried out for the team i was really nervous.â he opened up, gaze down and him tenderly caressing over your skin with his thumb, you shifting your body a little to properly face him.
âyou were?â you softly asked, and he nodded.
you didnât know why the concept of megumi being nervous about baseball, the very sport he was an absolute god at, was hard for you to wrap your head around and comprehend.
âit was a private try out with just a few others that were scouted like i was.â he mumbled. âi almost didnât go because i was so nervous about it.â
back then, before you⊠baseball was really the only thing he had that brought him the smallest sense of peace in his life from the suffocating isolation he otherwise felt everyday⊠and he didnât want to fuck up the one sole thing that gave him that, because without it he wouldnât have anything at all.
he was more than well aware that without baseball, he wouldnât have you.
megumi leaned his head back against the headrest in thought, face blank.
âthey had sent yuji off to a different stadium so i was entirely on my own⊠and there were so many evaluators and coaches andâ scout directors⊠it was rare when scout directors were there for try outs.â
he frowned.
âand some dumb fuck decided it was a good idea to tell me that the reason they were there was to watch me.â
you softly giggled.
âit just made my nerves worse and i didnât know how to make it better.â
he gradually tipped his head back down to his lap, gently untangling your interlocked hands and prying open your fingers to reveal your flat palm, wordlessly tracing figure eightâs onto it then with his index fingerâ his other hand cupping and holding it steady from underneath. Â
âwhen it was almost my turn to go out on the field i started doing this with my hands⊠dunno why but for some reason it ended up helping me.â
the feather light movements from the pad of his finger sent little tickles through your skin, and you stifled a laugh and twitched a little, the corner of megumiâs lips quirking upward as he continued to draw.
âiâm really glad that it did gumi.â you sweetly replied. âdo you ever still do it?â
he nodded. âbefore every game.â
your eyes softened as you stared at him, gaze flickering down to your hands and watching him begin to trace a little heart on your palm, you internally screaming at that as he lifted your hand and brought it back over to rest on your own lap.
âtry it baby.â he murmured. âmaybe itâll help you.â
he really hoped it would.
you listened and flattened out your palm, your other hand coming over to draw tiny loops with the pad of your middle finger, mimicking what heâd done earlier as you softly smiled to yourself and thought about how nice megumi was to pass down something as precious and meaningful as this.
because to you, tracing absentminded figure eights and squiggles meant that megumi was right there with you through whatever it was that was making you so nervous to begin with, believing in you and cheering you on through the feeling of cutesy doodles on your skin, reminding you of the eternal comfort and warmth he brought to you every single day without you having to utter a single peep about it.
thinking of a world where you could be on one of the nflâs top cheerleading teams was like asking for a million dollars to justâ poof to life and settle at your feet⊠but funnily enough, you had thought that very same thing about megumi, and yet here he was beside youâ with your promise rings sitting pretty and twinkling on each otherâs ring fingers, a bundle of memories stored in your little hearts that youâd curated so lovingly since the day you met.
you threw your arms around his neck then and wrung him in, megumi letting out a little surprised breath as he squeakily laughed and held you back, his nose dipping in the crook of your neck as he embraced you flush against his chest.
âthank you gumi!â you gushed, pulling away to press a series of quick pecks to his temple. âthat made me feel so much better!â
âgood.â he murmured against your skin, running a soothing hand up and down your backâ satisfied that he was able to give back and be of some use to you at a time like this. âmâgladâŠâ
megumi parted from your neck to look at you, the sight of your striking sunny face making his chest buzz as he leaned in and kissed you.
âget âem pretty baby.â he spoke softly against your lips. âyouâll do good.â
you lit up and kissed him again before pulling back and nodding, the both of you getting out of the car then and rounding your way to the trunk, megumi popping it open to retrieve your duffel bag for you.
âtext me please. if you can.â he helped put the strap of your bag over your shoulder. âwhenever you find the time.â
âi will! thank you gumiââ you stood on your tippy toes and quickly smooched his cheek, sending him a stunning smile after. âiâll see you after okay? try not to go absolutely nuts without me and die.â
he snorted and gave you a singular nod.
âiâll try.â
you gawked, eyes narrowing to slits. âyouâll try? oh! okay so you hate me thenââ
âwhere did you even get thatââ
âyou just said you didnât wanna yearn for me.â
âgo inside.â
âoh! so now you wanna break upââ
âoh my god babyââ
maneuvering around the football stadium on the way to the dance room was like going through a fucking sick maze, the entirety of the teamâs headquarters massive and yet sleek as you attempted to follow the directions the coaches had sent you via mass text, struggling to make sense of it while getting distracted every two seconds by every spacious conference room, every lounging area that was so elegant and pristine you nearly stopped multiple times just to test out the cushy looking sofas, and every never ending trophy hall you discovered, finding yourself comparing the size of it to megumiâs team headquartersâ not knowing if this stadium was actually bigger⊠or if it just seemed like it was because you were unfamiliar with it.
but regardless, you could tell the team dropped big football money to get it to look as polished and brilliant as it did.
your phone buzzed and you looked down, the caller i.d. reading your best friend as you quickly hiked up your duffel bag and answered.
âhi babe!ââ
âiâm fucking lost!â she cried. âthis shitâs a labyrinth! a rich one! i can't even find the bathroom to pee!ââ
you laughed and switched your phone to the other ear, proceeding to walk through the building again and hoping youâd somehow miraculously cross paths with her.
âtell me about itâŠâ you mumbled, your eyes squinting over the various halls ahead of you and trying to decide which one to walk through. âevery time i try to look at the map they sent i see a new plumpy couch i wanna sit on.â
âright?!â she gushed. âand iâm not saying our menâs headquarters are bad or anything⊠but this is actually crazy i feel like they could put this money towards a better coach though jesusââ
you snickered as you randomly decided to go towards the path to your right, stepping through another picture frame filled hall of the teamâs endeavors throughout the seasons. Â
âhow come? i thought he was a good one.â
âmmm his hair is too spiky.â she muttered. âi think i just have a problem with spiky haired menâ oh! i found it i found it! i see the girls locker room sign aw its so pretty!ââ
âwhere?!â you panicked. âoh god babe where are you if i donât stop going into random fucking rooms iâm gonna be late and get sent homeââ
âshit! okay uhhhh have you walked by the main loft yet? the one with the big star on the groundââ
âhuh?!â you stopped dead in your tracks and frantically looked around, your eyes going to the floor to see what freaking star she was talking about as terror started brewing up in your chest, your mind already concocting different scenarios of you getting there late and getting yelled at like a loser and disappointing everyone you had ever come to know and love in your lifeâ
âwhat star?!â you cried, spinning around on your heel and hastily walking the other direction. âiâ i donât see a star all i see is gorgeous furniture and more rooms i wanna go intoowuuhh!ââ
âokayâ describe your surroundings iâll try and find youââ
âno! you just found it i feel like youâre gonna get lostââ
âfuck! no okay tell me howââÂ
you suddenly collided against something hard and stumbled back, your phone slipping from your hand and clattering to the ground as you lost your balance and teetered back, a pair of hands shooting out then to snatch your wristsâ yanking you upright and saving you from the shit you were just about to eat on the floor.
âiâm so sorry!â a voice sputtered. âiâ i wasnât looking where i was going and i didnât notice youââ Â
your gaze landed ahead on a football player from the teamâ dressed in his gear with widened remorseful eyes as they quickly scoured over you, his gaze dropping to the floor and bulging at the sight of your phone face first on the ground, snapping his body down to retrieve it before handing it back to you.
âshit is your phone okay? ifâ if itâs not i can replace it i swear it iâm really sorryââ
the fidgety bashful man in front of you was sort ofâ kind looking to you⊠and you flashed him a reassuring smile, shaking your head and waving him off.
âno its okay! donât be sorry!â you sweetly expressed. âi wasnât looking where i was going either heh⊠iâm lost like a moron and trying to find my way around.â
he breathed out a laugh then, nodding and shoulders gradually relaxing as he scratched the back of his neck.
âyouâre a cheerleader for my team..? right?â
âuh huh!â you nodded. âwellâ auditioning⊠but i sure as fuck wonât be doing that either if i canât find the damn locker roomsââ
âoh! iâve seen a few times where it is.â he blinked down at you, a small smile on his face as he lowered his arm. âi couldâ i could take you there? if thatâs okay with you? or i can try to find you a physical guideââ
âoh myâ would you actually?â you asked hopefully. âi would really appreciate that! butâ only if you absolutely can i donât want to keep you away from anything you have to doâŠâ
âno its okay!â he grinned. âpractice doesnât start for another hour i got time.â
he was so nice!
âthank you!â you gushed, and he nodded, the both of you making your way out of the random hallway you were just in and out towards the main area by the indoor field, you following close behind him as your eyes once again drank in your surroundings, yet this time with a little less anxiety knowing you were being helped by someone who actually knew their way around.
âare you guys doing training camp right now?â the football player spoke up, looking back at you from over his geared-up shoulder as you picked up the pace a bit to match him.
âmhm! we are.â you grinned. âiâm surprised you know! i thought most football players didnât really care much about their cheerleaders.â
âthey usually donâtâŠâ he gave you an apologetic smile. âi just doze off a lot during practice and notice you guys dancing out on the field sometimes.â
you laughed at that, nodding in understanding and realizing that the picture frames on the walls were gradually transitioning from the football players to the cheerleaders instead, their own trophies and awards glimmering and bright in their glass casings as you made your way through.
âhow long have you been on the team?â you asked him.
ânot too long! this is my second year in.â he replied, rounding a corner with you and your eyes catching view of the girls locker rooms up aheadâ their cursive titled logo indeed sitting pretty and glamorous overtop the main doors. âwe actually just finished with our own training camp and got the official roster.â
âoh how exciting! did you guys get any new players?â
âjust a few.â he smiled down at you. ânot too many. iâm surprised i didnât get released or traded off though! hah⊠lucky meâŠâ
you looked at him bewildered just as soon as you both stopped in front of the locker rooms.
âwait why wouldââ
ây/n! my baby oh thank god!ââ
you recognized the voice to be your best friend as she flung her arms around you and pulled you in for a hug, your eyes instantly brightening and a wave of relief washing over your body as you embraced her back.
âoh my god hiiiii! look look i made it!â
âyou did! fantastic job amazing job now letâs go through hazing for the next nine hours.â
you laughed. âyes! oh gimme me a secââ
turning your attention back up to the football player, you gave him sweet smile and extended a hand.
âthank you so much for helping me!â you beamed. âwithout you i donât think i wouldâve ever made it here or even found my way out.â
he giggled and nodded once again, his own palm quickly coming out to clasp yours in a warm handshake.
âno worries! iâm glad i was able to.â
âand iâm sure you not getting traded off or released was for a very good reason.â you brought up gently, and he paused. âso take that into account and just do your best! okay?â
he held your gaze for a moment, the cogs in his brain turning briefly until a ginormous shining smile spread across his face then, making him look even kinder and friendlier than before as he vigorously nodded.
âyeah! yeah okay! thank you!â your hands separated. âwhatâs your name? ifâ if you donât mind me asking?â
ây/n! and you?â
âokkotsu! yuta okkotsu.â
ânice to meet you, yuta!â you grinned. âhopefully iâll see you around? if i donât get on the chopping block?â
he laughed and flashed you a thumbs up, taking a step to the side before beginning his journey back out to his side of the stadium.
âiâm sure you wonât.â he cheesed. âdo your best too!â
and you happily nodded then, the two of you waving each other goodbye as you and your girl friend watched him make his way down the hall until he was out from view, her readjusting the strap of her duffel bag on her shoulder and turning to you.
âwho the fuck was that.â
you giggled and linked your arm with hers then, leading her to the entrance.
âa player on the team. i accidentally ran into him and he offered to help me find the locker rooms... he was so nice!â
she hummed, her brow slowly rising and smirking as you stepped through the doors, walking into a bustling busy bright room with handfuls of other girls doing their makeup and hair.
âdonât tell megumiiii.â she dragged, the two of you finding an open spot on a bench. âor heâll get jelly.â
you amusedly rolled your eyes and the both of you sat, setting your duffel bags down on the ground beside your feet.
âno he wonât itâs not like thatââ
âuhâ yes he most definitely will the ogre literally sucker punched ino in the face.â
your eyes widened and you sat upright. âoh my god i literally forgot about thatââ
âyeah donât babe or your new football buddy is nextââ
âalright girlies huddle up!â
you both tensed and whipped your heads around, your gaze stopping on the very same captain that youâd met at the halloween partyâ still so gorgeous and put together as her eyes scoured over the lot of you.
âcongratulations on making it past the preliminaries and to training camp!â she exclaimed. âthatâs such a huge accomplishment and an opportunity not a lot of girls get a chance to experience! so be proud!â
you and your girl friend exchanged quick awkward glances.
because what the hell did you both even do? what were you even doing here?
âweâre gonna start heading into the dance room now with coach yumi and hina, so please finish up and make your way over in the next two minutes okay? you guys can leave your stuff here just remember where you put itââ
chatter filled the jittery air again as everyone began moving their things out of the way or curling their last pieces of hair, excitement yet tension sizzling about in the room as all the girls attempted to prepare for the straight out unexpected, your best friend sending you a wary reassuring smile before bending down to retrieve her water bottle from her bag.
âweâll be okay.â she reached a hand over and squeezed your upper arm. âif we get sent home we get sent home it's whatever.â
you nodded. âat least weâre dating men from the mlb.â
she cackled and quickly nodded, throwing an arm around your shoulders as the two of you started following the crowdâ walking out of the locker rooms and a bit of ways down the hall.
âyouâre absolutely right babe! nfl men are butt ugly anyways its straight slim pickings for the rest of these girliesââ
âiâm glad you guys came out!â
you jerked your heads to the side and saw the captain herself, walking alongside you with a polite expression and a set of pompoms in her handsâ the glimmering frills a mix of navy blue, gray and white as they shined against the light.
âoh hi!â you greeted kindly. âyes of course! we wouldnât be here at all if it wasnât for you, so we canât thank you enough!â
your girl friend agreed alongside you and she laughed, waving you both off as she cheekily grinned.
she was so undeniably beautiful and friendly that your jaw just about physically hit the floor.
âyou guys made me laugh so much at that party i think i peed.â she snorted. âcharm and personality are extremely vital for a group like this, since we get a lot of exposure by the media.â
she shook out her pompoms before handing them over to you, you gratefully taking them from her and ogling at the pretty frills, rotating them in your hands.
âcoach yumi and hina are looking to break tradition this year on the down low⊠they wanna see the kind of dynamic the team could create if they had talent come in from other unique ways.â Â
you all entered the dance room then, shoes squeaking against the reflective hardwood flooring as she paved the wayâ your eyes taking no time at all to spot yumi and hina themselves sitting in their respective tall director chairs.
âso show them something different okay?â the captain smiled, her reaching out to quickly smooth over both you and your best friendâs bedazzled athletic attireâ straightening it out a bit and fixing anything that was out of place. âbut still blend in of course! you guys are gorgeous already so youâre good to go.â
you and your best friend laughed, grateful that she was the kindest ever and gave the two of you the time of dayâ comforting you and showing you the ropes in any way she was allowed to, and doing it so graciously too amongst forty five other tryouts.
âiâll check in with you guys in a little bit. just let them see what i saw!â
âokay!â your best friend called out. âthank you!â
and the captain nodded with a sparkling smile, spinning on her heel and jogging up to the leadership circle by the coaches.
âwhat did she see man?â you mumbled, and your girl friend heavily sighed, hanging her head and lightly scuffing her shoes against the flooring.
âtwo drunk girls.â she muttered. âbeing stupidââ
âalright rookies!â coach yumi called out. âweâre gonna start running through the numbers in groups of five!â
you swallowed the seeming boulder in your throat as you followed the crowd and huddled over to the side of the dance room, your heart utterly racing a thousand miles a second as you felt your hands start to grow coldâ trembling and the evidence showing through the slight shake of your pompoms against the light.
your hands.
looking down, you slowly tucked your pompoms underneath an arm and opened up your hand, digits spreading flat as you used the middle finger of your other hand to softly trace over the skinâ delicate and slow and grounding⊠the action making you focus solely on the silly figures you were doodling on your skin, and not the overwhelming constant yapping of your overprotective mind attempting to already shield you from the gutting feeling of rejection.
it made you focus on megumi⊠your head substituting your finger with his, flashing the memory of just the two of you in his carâ giggling and soft as he traced a little heart over the lines of your palm.
you smiled to yourself then, your nerves gradually dissipating with every drag of looping hearts that you made this time, repeating it over and over until your breathing evened out and you felt okay to look up again.
âready rookies?!â coach hina called out. Â
âgroup one start us off!â
for the next nine hours you and your best friend grinded with the rest of the rookies, as you not only performed and polished the routine they had expected you to come prepared with, but were taught three additional dances that they wanted you to get down and practically nail for the most part by the end of the day, each a different style and rhythm as every choreographer who explained the routines had their own way of teaching that you tried your best to follow, it at times contradicting with the way you learned as you simultaneously attempted to keep up with the fucking ludicrous speed of it all.
depending on the reason and situation, you all individually were complimented, critiqued, scolded, and reprimanded as you went, and by the end of the dayâ after spending hours dancing and shaking pompoms, sweating your asses off, shimming your hips, and traveling yards across the field to eventually end up doing their signature jump split that you thankfully only fucked up once, the final hour of day one training camp had taken its course, with no one violating criteria too badly that earned them a reason to be sent home and eliminated from making the team.
âi canât feel my fucking legs.â you breathed out, exhausted as you packed up your things alongside your best friend in the locker rooms, every girl in there sharing the same sentiment of fatigue and literal burn out as they tidied up to go home.
âyou know whatâs so funny?â she mumbled, attempting to pick up her duffel bag but dragging it weakly across the floor instead. âi never knew i had back problems until today.â
you giggled, zipping up your duffel bag and hoisting it over your shoulder. âoh my god those jump splits were murdering me.â
âdonât let them.â she miserably shook her head. âhow else are we gonna let our men hit it from the back if our tailbones are shatteredââ
âbabe!â your cheeks went pink, head whipping around to see if anyone heard her. Â
âwhat?!â she threw her arms out. âgirl iâm doing you a favor didnât you tell me megumi loves doggy?â
you perked up in remembrance. âhe does! but he told me his absolute fav is missionary because he can see my faceââ
ââaw! wait thatâs cute i love that no complaintsââ
âright! right!ââ
you felt your phone buzz then in the pockets of your duffel bag, you reaching and digging around for a momentâ pulling it out then to reveal a flashing picture of you and your boyfriend with your cheeks mushed together and snuggly, your heart leaping as you picked up.
âhi gumi!â
âhi baby.â he spoke over the other line, butterflies in your stomach over the sound of his deep voice that you horrendously missed and hadnât heard all day. âi just got here⊠i parked in the same spot as this morning if thatâs okay.â
âoh yes! thatâs fine gumi thank you.â you kindly replied, both you and your best friend starting to make your way out of the locker rooms and through the labyrinth of a stadium again. âiâm heading over there now we just got dismissed.â
âmkay.â you heard some shuffling on the other line. âiâll see you soon thenââ
your best friend shoved her lips next to the speakers of your phone.
âi heard how much you like missionary megumiiii!â she teased. âreward y/n tonight for her oh so very hard work and get down to businessââ
you screamed and jerked your body away from hers, your cheeks growing hot as you held a hand over your mouth, her cackling at your reaction.
âi can never go a day without her big mouth in my ear can iâŠâ he grumbled, his own neck spiking in temperature. âtell her to knock it offââ
âis that my woman?!â a different familiar voice cut in, one you recognized to be yujiâs as you giggled and put your phone on speaker. âi heard her voice! ask her how many football men tried to get her number and to tell them i know how to fightââ
ââgetâ off meââ
âyou should be worried too megumi weâre no longer safe those football men are fiends! man fiends!ââ
you both had just made it past the exit of the stadium when you came across your men literally wrestling each other in the parking lotâ yuji jumping directly on top of megumiâs back as he tried to snatch the phone from his ear, your boyfriend struggling and jerking under his weight with the most pissed off look youâd seen on him all week, you hovering a hand over your mouth to try and mask your snickers as you watched, hanging up the phone.
âitadori youâre heavy as shit get offââ
yuji scoffed. âno iâm not! iâm as light as a feather thank you very muchââ
âyouâre heavy.â
âam not!â
âoff.â
âjust imagine y/n getting buttered up by a football player then whatââ
âOFF!ââ
âokay! okayââ you chuckled, coming up to megumi and ruffling his spiky hair a little. âeasy gumi.â
he looked at you with an expressionless face.
âhelp.â
and you laughed again, yuji springing off megumi then and nearly toppling him over as soon as he spotted your best friend, walking to her with his arms extended before he yanked her in a tight embrace.
âhey babe!â he cheesed. âmissed you! how was your first day?â
âit was good yu!â she grinned, looking up at him with a pinky hue to her cheeks, pulling apart and interlacing her fingers with his. âexcept i think my back is breaking! but no biggie! this is what it takes to be a cheerleader.â
a brief flash of concern crossed yujiâs face, eyebrows coming to a furrow as he slowly took her duffel bag from her shoulder and swung it over his.
âwhatâ is it⊠really?â he questioned, looking over her frame for any visible signs of injury. âare youâ sure..?ââ
âyes yu.â she smiled, whipping her head around to face you. âright babe?â
âyup yup!â you cheekily grinned, giving them a thumbs up as the men eyed you both.
âand what about you.â megumi mumbled, his eyes skeptically scanning your body. âdoes something hurt?â
âjust my legs.â you shrugged, blinking up at him with a sweet smile. âand my feet. and my arms. and my head. and my heart. and myââ
âalright weâre leaving.â Â
he swiftly took your duffel bag from your shoulder and looped it over himself like nothing, as if it hadnât weighed literally a thousand fucking pounds to you all day and nearly broke your back out, him taking your hand with no questions asked as you giggled and quickly looked behind you.
âbye you guys!â you waved, yuji and your girl friend happily mirroring you before they turned away as well.
âand you said this was for the next two weeks?â megumi spoke as you walked to his car. âauditions?â
âmhm!â you hummed, though him quick to notice from the corner of his eye how you literally winced with almost every step you took, or how you pulled your lips into a thin line when you helped load your things into his trunk and bent your body a certain way, simmering worry gnawing at the back of his head.
âi donât know how i feel about you guys having back to back auditions with no rest daysâŠâ megumi mumbled, closing the trunk. âyouâll get really tired babyâŠâ
âbut donât you do that gumi?â you raised brow. âwith the team?â
he looked at you and pursed his lips.
âso.â
you laughed and grabbed the fabric of his hoodie by the collar, gently bringing him down to press a kiss to his cold cheek, looking at him directly after with a tilt to your head as you smiled.
âiâll be okay baby donât worry about me.â you murmured, your tired little eyes doing nothing to help him abide by your request, but instead making it worse as he sighed softly through his nose and slowly straightened up, your hand slipping from his hoodie in the process as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders, bringing you in to his chest and resting his cheek against the top of your head.
you could tell your man was thinking, and you felt bad about how much he was concerning himself over you when he should be more focused on things that actually mattered moreâ like the fact that the world series was fast approaching for him, you not wanting to be an added stressor to the heavy bundle he was already carrying from the team and management.
âwhat gumi?â you softly asked, snaking your arms around his torso and giving him a squeeze. âi promise iâm okayyy! really! iâm just a tiny bit tired is all nothing more than that⊠me thinks i just need a sandwich and one specifically from that cafe down the street from my campusââ
âme thinks youâre lying.â
you giggled at his use of your own jargon, shaking your head and propping your chin up on his chest with a grin.
âsilly silly man⊠no more thinking youâre banned from thinking.â you murmured, the feeling of his warm arms around you so cozy and soothing against the cold that it nearly put you to sleep right there, your eyelids beginning to droop as you started to feel the reality of your exhaustion. âiâm okay gumi. swear it.â
you thought about how lucky you were to have a man who fussed and huffed over your wellbeing so much, even going as far as to picking up your own worries and settling them on his back for you, so you could deal with them together, a thing that he absolutely never had to do and shouldnât⊠but chose to anyway simply because heâs pure hearted.
his devotion to the things that mattered most to him was always one of your ultimate most favorite traits about him, a fact you could blab on and on about without ever shutting up, and something you deeply admired and found yourself looking for in other people as it had subconsciously set the standard for you for life.
you slid your hands up his chest then and mushed his cheeks together, cutting off his worried silly muttering as you brought his face down and kissed himâ slow and soft with the tips of your chilly red noses brushing against each other every time you shifted, megumiâs annoyance flying out the window in seconds as he relaxed into your mouth.
you parted from his lips with a little chuu.
âi canât thank you enough for worrying about me gumi.â you murmured sweetly. âbut iâm a big girl and i promise you i can take a little tussle⊠okay?â
he huffed softly through his nose, leaning his forehead gently against yours.
regardless of what you asked of him, and regardless of how many times the two of you circled back to this same topic... megumi would continue to worry about you for as long as you wanted him around.
and he knew you could. he knew you had the ability to stand up for yourself and be resilient on your own terms whenever needed without him... but he figured it mustâve been because he was a sick fuck who didnât know how to ever leave you alone that made it hard for him to let you do just that, for he didnât particularly like the idea of you not needing him in some aspects to begin with, choosing instead to swallow his pathetic urge to smother and let you have your way with things.
but that was something megumi was taking to the grave.
âmkay.â he spoke lowly, lifting his forehead and pressing a quick peck to yours before pulling away entirely, reaching out to close the trunk of his car. âbut tell me if you get overwhelmed please... alright?â Â
you quickly nodded. âi will!â
the degree of discipline and precision that came with the cheer team was something you didnât mind in the fucking slightest, because although it was intimidating and demanding and rather harsh at times... it was that exactly that made them so good. Â
it brought consistency and prestige, it brought opportunities from across the country with other football teams and organizations that many other cheer teams could only ever dream of getting the privilege to have, and it brought notability to each and every girl who managed to actually make the teamâ their recognition and personality living on in the cheerleading community for years to come.
and you wanted so badly to be a part of something like that... you wanted something of your own to work for and take care of and just beâ cool like your megumi was with his team... as his passion and loyalty to baseball inspired you so much and had you itching to follow in his footsteps and show that you could be just like him, the fact pushing you to keep going regardless of your blundering insecurities and mishaps.
you wanted to show him that you could do it... you wanted megumi to be proud of you.
which is exactly why for the two weeks that followed you worked your ass off in auditions to try and accomplish just that, all the way until the very last day of training camp.
you hoped that when the official roster was sent out then, that you were at least fucking home and locked away in your room so you could rightfully bawl your eyes out upon finding out that you didnât make it.
but what you hadnât expected... was for emails to be sent out in the middle of the god damn nightâ snoozing away in the arms of your man as you suddenly stirred by the relentless buzzing of your phone on megumiâs nightstand.
inhaling a quick breath, you groggily lifted your head from the pillow and looked over your shoulderâ peeking a drowsy eye open and rubbing away the blurriness with your fist as you tried to adjust your line of sight to the bright light coming from your screen, sleepy confusion written all over your face while you thought of who the hell was texting you at this hour, your perplexion though gradually shifting to worry as you realized that it could possibly be an emergency from your family back home.
you rubbed your eyes some more and rolled over, megumiâs heavy arms slipping from your body in the process as you reached for your phone, fumbling through the darkness for a bit before finally feeling your device and retrieving it, the brightness of your screen making you squint your eyes again as you dumbly tapped away through god knows what, attempting to decipher the mass amount of emails that just got delivered to your inbox.
it took almost no time at all for megumiâs dreamy mind to notice that he couldnât feel you anymore, his brain slowly waking up as a result as he drowsily began to feel around the sheets for you through closed eyelids, his brows coming to a tiny furrow once he still couldnât locate youâ sluggishly rolling to his back then and dragging an arm over his eyes to rid away some of the sleep.
he let his arm lazily fall and he turned his head to the side, slowly blinking his lids open and gaze searching around through the darkness for a bit until they landed on your back.
oh.
his frame relaxed at the sight of you and he shifted over to his side, closing his eyes again and arms reaching out to snake around your waist, you letting out a little sleepy giggle at the feeling of him repeatedly nudging and pulling you to scooch and come on back. Â
âmâsorry gumi.â you let his arms bring you in and you moved onto your back, phone still in hand as you softly kissed his cheek in apology before continuing to scroll through emails that still looked like a bunch of gibberish to you. âi didnât mean to wake you.â
megumi grunted in response, drawing you in closer until his bare chest met your shoulder, planting his face into your hair and deeply sighing.
âsâokay...â he sleepily mumbled. âwhatâs wrong.â
ânothing baby.â you murmured, running a soothing palm over the arm that was over your tummy. âmy phone kept going off and it woke me up... mâtrying to read what the hellââ Â
âcongratulations on making the team! we are pleased to offer you a spot on this yearâs sweethearts roster for the upcoming nfl seasonâ
you shot up in bed then, megumiâs eyes flying open as he shot up with you and whipped his head in your direction scared out of his mind, worry spiking up his spine over your sudden erratic breathing as he pinched his brows and reached for you.
âjesus! what whatââ
âhow?! oh my god literally howââ
ây/nââ he gently grabbed your cheeks and made you face him, his gaze searching over your shocked expression and growing even more fucking confused at the drastic change. âyou okay? what happenedââ
âi feel light headed.â you blurted, heaving. âiâm gonna pass out. or die. or bothâ no wait i think i'm gonna pukeââ
âokayâ breathe y/n...â he let go of your cheeks and ran a comforting hand up and down your back, the other settling over your belly as he craned his neck down to your phone on your lap, trying to decipher what the hell you saw that got you like this.
âdonât scare me pretty...â he softly spoke, eyes squinting over the tiny letters on your screen. âtalk to me please.â
when his gaze drifted back up to your face and he caught sight of your bottom lip wobbling with shiny teary eyes, he paused.
ây/n?â
âi made the team.â
megumi stilled.
holy shitâ
âyou made it baby?â a slow big grin spread across his face. âyeah?â
âyeah!â you vigorously nodded, laughing through your tears as you threw your arms around him, his own wrapping around your torso so unbelievably tight and snug that you almost couldnât even breathe, but you not giving more of a fuck in that moment as he dug his face into the nape of your neck, a breath of relief puffing through his lips as he thanked his lucky stars for letting this happen to you.
âsee?â he murmured, placing a gentle palm on the back of your head to rub. âyou were more than capable of making it y/n.â
âman i don't know how!â you burst in utter disbelief. âiâ i fucked up so many times and i got a strike and then i accidentally ate shit on the field in front of the coaches because i messed up the count theyâ they saw it on that thingy! the big screen that makes me horny over you at your gamesââ
he snorted and rolled his eyes, pecking your neck before pulling away to look at you, his hands sliding down to rest comfortably on your hips.
âmâproud of you.â he gave you an endearing little squeeze. âall of that isn't important pretty baby youâre only human... they saw everything else that mattered and you need to be proud of yourself for that.â
you blinked.
âits not luck that got you a spot on the team⊠it was just you.â megumi leaned and planted a kiss to your forehead. âbecause you worked hard for it and deserved it.â
oh god you beamed at him then, a swirl of affection filling in your chest at his praise that made you want to jump him and kidnap him and lock him up for no other woman to seeâ
âexcept for that stupid strike.â he continued with a mumble, falling back on the bed and snatching you with him by the wrist, you letting out a giggly squeal as you toppled downâ megumi's arm sliding underneath your body to pull you closer to his side, your cheek mushing against his warm bare chest.
âif i didn't have you gumi... i don't think i would've been able to do it.â you murmured softly. âor anything for that matter.â
his brows came to a furrow through closed eyelids.
âthatâs not true.â he shook his head a little. âyou absolutely can youâre capable ofââ
âno gumiââ you propped yourself up on an elbow to face him straight on, him peeking an eye open to meet your serious stare with a bit of confusion.
âi don't think you understand how much of a pussy i actually am.â you laughed. âi always feel like... like all i know how to do is talk peopleâs ears off and be dumb but... since i've met you youâve always made me feel so special baby...â
his eyes softened.
how the fuck could you not see how much youâve changed his life? or submit yourself under a category so far from the definition of what special was?
you were everything and more to him.
âi had honestly already made peace with the fact that i was more than likely not making it because i truthfully justâ didnât know what the hell i was doing.â
you scooched yourself up a bit to level with megumi, staring down at him with the kindest smile.
âbut you were just too sweet to me gumi. every day when you packed my things and made me breakfast... i couldnât help but force myself and just try it even if i was the biggest airhead in there. you gave me the courage to do it.â
you brushed through his spiky bangs, fingers trailing down to tenderly caress his pink cheek as your promise ring glistened in the moonlight.
âi wanted you to be proud of me and see me the way i see you... so thank you.â
if it was possible for megumi to implode and die from where he lay before coming back to life to smother you up, he wouldâve done it the second those precious shy words left your lips, with you looking at him like that and the way you were being so soft with him... showering him in appreciation that he knew he didnât deserve any of.
and he found himself thanking his lucky stars once more that he actually ended up being useful to you.
expressionless, he raised an index finger and gently pushed your forehead.
âbrat.â
you giggled.
âwhat i do now?ââ
âi see the world of you.â Â
you faltered as he used the same finger to then slowly trace down the outline of your pretty nose, his rough skin feeling over the shape before stopping at the tip.
âand i love you more than anything.â he whispered. âplease be nicer to yourself.â
every time you expressed that you or others felt you talked too much, or that you thought you werenât capable of doing great things when you absolutely fucking could and have been, made megumi want to claw his skin off and yell at everything in your life that convinced you of that nonsensical bullshit every single time it came up, like now. again.
he hoped he would never cross paths with your stupid ex boyfriend.
âplease.â he whispered again, his tone and face so pleading that it made your heart ache. âfor me.â
and you damn near melted into puddy against him, nodding your head as you pressed wet smacking kisses to his cheek again and again.
âawwww gumiiii!â you cooed. âyes! i'll do it i'll do it from now on i don't talk enough i'm merely a silent little mouse who needs to open her mouth more for not just talking but sucking on your fat yummy diââ
megumi's hand shot out and squished your cheeks together, cutting you off.
âplease no baby i'm gonna end up fucking you until seven in the morning if you keep talking like that.â
you gasped.
âthe fuck? whatâ why wouldnât i want that? that's a brilliant idea and me thinks we should get naked nowââ
you bolted onto his lap to straddle him, him quick to catch you by the torso with an amused smileâ proceeding to then wrestle each other through the darkness whilst megumi laughed and snickered at every failing sneaky attempt you made to surpass his strength, holding on tightly to your struggling wrists as your giggles filled his room so lovingly, that he couldnât help the way his enamored brain short circuited and accidentally let his grip slip as a result.
taking the obvious opportunity, you snatched your wrists away and lunged for the hem of his loose t-shirt, pulling up just enough to reveal his god given pelvic v-line before he engulfed you entirely by the arms and snagged you down to his chest, his mouth to your ear as you wiggled in his strong hold and tried to break your own arms free from his literal entrapment.
what is megumiâs team feeding these men?â
âme thinks you donât know what you're asking for.â megumi mumbled, his breath misty and warm against your ear as you stilled. âme thinks i'll have you stuffed up just like this âtill morning... fucking you without a break if you keep this up rubbing your little lips all over my dick.â
heat rose to your face and you bit down on the inside of your cheek, his vulgar words doing everything but getting you to do what he wanted you to do, instead shooting straight to your clit and causing you to squirm and lamely attempt to tighten your thighs around him a little to ease the pulse.
âbâbut gumi...â your tiny voice trembled as you spoke, forehead falling on his shoulder. âyou havenâtâ we havenâtâ done anything in a while...â
you felt ridiculous for sounding so whiny and pathetically desperate, but it was true... any attempt that you had previously made ever since starting auditions was like megumi had sworn celibacy for some reason, gently diverting your advances with soft rejections and promises to make it up to you.
but the truth was that megumi felt like he was being burned alive with every time he told your pretty face and pleading eyes a big fat lying no.
he wanted you to stay focused and perform your absolute best at training camp and school, refusing to add to the layers of exhaustion you already had by pounding you into his mattress and sending you off to auditions with sore thighs and bite mark littered skin, his restraint literally painful and him feeling unbelievably guilty whenever you hopefully asked for it.
because dear god how he wanted you... how he missed the feeling of you wrapped around him...
but he wanted you to properly rest.
he tightened his hold around you and screwed his eyes shut, nose burying further into the strands of your silky hair as he swallowed and tried not to let how sweet and needy you sounded get to his head.
âi know baby...â he muttered. âbut not tonight alright... i want you to sleep please youâve barely gotten any these past few weeks.â
you grumbled and sat up, his arms slipping from around you as you did so.
âgumi i'm fine i sweaarrr!â you whined, palms flat on his chest. âsleep is for the weak anyways and i'm not a bitch soââ
he snorted, a small smile playing at his lips as he raised a hand and tucked a few strands of hair behind your ear, fingers trailing down after to gently grab your chin.
âsleep.â he pushed pointedly. âweâre going to sleep.â
you huffed and crossed your arms, accepting defeat and sliding off to plop down flat on the bed next to him, megumi trying to ignore the familiar guilt pitting in his chest again as he immediately reached out and pulled you back into him.
âokay gumi.â you spoke softly, your tone evidently laced in disappointment even though you knew damn well his reasoning did hold some truth to it, exhaustion beginning to creep up your bones as you basked in megumiâs warmth. Â
âif anything i bet the coaches will give us a small break...â you murmured tiredly, eyelids slowly drooping. âso hopefully i do catch up a little on sleep...â
except they didnât.
you had found out the following morning that your best friend had also thankfully made the cut, the two of you over the freaking moon and utterly shocked at how in the living hell you managed to pull it off and stupidly make it on the cheer team despite everything that you did wrong, screaming and hyperventilating to each other over the phone as your respective men once again sat back dumbfounded and blinking at your incoherent rapid blubbering.
though your gushes and coos over at last getting to wear your rightfully earned uniforms without the haunting thought of getting booted, or how excitingly eventful your lives would be like now was short lived with the way the coaches sent out mass emails about scheduling and upcoming events not even an hour after the official roster dropped, the biggest of course being the football teamâs homecoming game that was coming up just around the corner.
yumi and hina only gave you guys two fucking days to recuperate from the borderline tiresome slaughter they put you through during training camp before they called all the girls back, and you grew increasingly more worried once it finally decided to settle and sink in your little brain about how youâd have to find a way to juggle your classes, your homework, and studying on top of the team's already demanding responsibilities...
but as odd and daunting as it was, you found yourself eager to figure it out instead of being put off by how intimidating or impossible it seemed. you were eager to make something more of who you were besides the ordinary academic aspect thatâd been a part of your life for as long as you could remember.Â
you were eager to continue making your man proud.
and cutely, no one was silently more excited about your homecoming game performance than megumi was.
he was undoubtedly looking forward to seeing you out there.
he was looking forward to seeing you happy.
âdo you think itâs worth it if i buy the two piece combo? or the three? or what if i just get nachosââ
readjusting his black shades, megumi deeply sighed through his nose and leaned his weight on one side, eyes scanning the concession stand against his will to see what yuji was spending literally thirty fucking minutes on trying to decide what to eat for the game, them surrounded by the clattering noise of the football stadiumâ the arena rowdy and a bit more rambunctious than what he had initially expected or was used to, seeing as his experience relied solely on what only baseball crowds were like.
âwell what do you want...â he mumbled, growing increasingly more agitated and fidgety at the possibility of him missing your pregame performance because he was freaking stuck here, the wrapper of the pinky bouquet he got for you crinkling under his arm as he shifted.
âhmmm...â yuji pursed his lips to the side in thought, setting his hands on his hips as his greedy little eyes scoured over the menu. âthe two piece combo comes with a hot dog... maybe i should get that!â
âso get it.â megumi spat, anxiously tapping his foot and looking over his shoulder to catch a fast glimpse of the field behind him, confirming that nothing was going on yet before turning his attention back to the concession stand. âand hurry upââ
âactuallyâ i think i'm feeling popcorn instead i might get gassy from the hot dog and i donât wanna miss anythingââ
âso then get popcornââ
âfuck but my girl loves nachos if i get that i can save her some for after the game and sheâll thank me with a little kissââ
âitadori.â megumi checked his watch. âhurry the hellââ
âactually maybe i wonât get anything it looks like the team gets enough money as it is megumi i meanâ did you see the statue they had out front? my god it makes us look broke as hellââ
âget the two piece combo and the nachos and the popcorn and letâs go.â megumi snapped through gritted teeth. âtheyâre dancing in ten minutes dude and we still donât even know where the fucking vip section isââ
yuji gasped. âoh fushiguro youâre a god damn genius i forgot i had free will for a secondâ hi! yes can i get theââ
megumi turned his back and walked a few steps away from the stand for the sake of not losing it where he stood, his jaw locked at yujiâs zero sense of urgency as his gaze looked over the large field from down belowâ a few football players already out on the sidelines performing warmups or doing small practice kicks with a ball.
he was sporting the darkest shades he owned to avoid being recognized and keep this day purely about you and only you to the best of his ability, afraid and heavily disliking the possibility of him getting so bombarded by paparazzi, that itâd prevent him from watching your performance and missing it.
he'd been dying to see you all dolled up and dancing...
âgumi gums what the hell are you doing still standing here and not where youâre supposed to beââ
megumi snapped his head to the source and gawked.
gojo. Â
âyouâre here?â his eyes trailed down and widened at the black compression shirt he was wearing with your literal face on it, his dadâs arms stuffed full of piles of snacks and merchandise from your cheer team.
âhowâ what the fuck are you doing here and where the fuck did you get that shirtââ
âoh this old thing?!â satoru wildly grinned, wiggling his brows as he turned his flexed body to and fro to show it off. âwhy i got it custom made just for this grandiose occasion my son! you really think i'd miss my sweet future daughter in laws debut? after she herself invited me? you silly silly grumpy boyââ
you had not told him that.
megumi raised his unoccupied hand and rubbed his temple, irritated at satoru.
âyouâre gonna creep her out gojo take it off.â
âabsolutely not.â he turned his head to the side in defiance and pursed his lips like a little fish. âthe only thing i'm doing is showing my undying support for her that she adores because unlike your team, her team actually loves me and doesnât ban me for common human mistakesââ
âyet.â
âmegsâ if youâre jealous of me having a shirt with your wife on it just say that. i can order another one for you. so stop pouting.â satoru tsked with a raised wagging index finger, spinning around on his heel then and moving ahead. âhavenât i taught you sharing is caring? also whereâs your boy yuji? both of your ladies put me next to you guys i was wondering why the seats were still empty when i got thereââ
âsatoru!âÂ
a flash of pink zipped through megumiâs line of sight before he caught yuji flinging himself at gojo in an embrace, scattered pieces of popcorn flying through the air and dispersing all over the floor as the two men funnily gushed and raved, a boastful rich laugh slipping through satoruâs open mouth while megumi tensed, his jaw setting at the quizzical stares he noticed they were all getting by anyone who passed.
they were attracting so much fucking attention and running the risk of getting recognizedâ
âaw my second son hellooo!â gojo flashed him a sparkling smile, shuffling around some of the merchandise he bought to free his arm, swinging it over yujiâs shoulders with a pat to the head. âhow are you holding up hm? still good? you nervous?â
âno yeah iâ i'm good!â yuji weakly grinned, gulping as satoru released him. âfor now... untilâ until i have to... oh god!â
megumi rolled his eyes and stepped forward, hooking an arm through yujiâs and dragging him away as he moved.
âyouâll be fine now can we go.â he mumbled. âweâre lucky enough as it is that no oneâs recognized your screamingââ
âand now... ladies and gentlemen, here they are!â
megumi froze in place.
âyour sweetheartâs of the season!ââ
the spiky haired boy whipped his head around in desperation, locking eyes with his dad.
âsatoru please!â he yelled over the rumbling roars of the crowd. âplease take us to the vip sectionââ
âoften imitated... never duplicated!ââ
yuji raked his fingers through his hair in a panic.
âoh my god no oh my god my wifeââ
âHOLY FUCK GO!â gojo zoomed past the both of them, nearly knocking each over. âGO MY KIDS COME THIS WAY!ââ
the three men booked it through the mass of unruly whistling fans, the warm stuffy air whipping through megumiâs hair and clothes as he held your bouquet tight to his chest, pushing and squeezing through people just to keep up with satoruâs ludicrous speed and praying that nothing was happening yet, that you were just walking out on the field and settling into your formation, that you werenât actively searching for him now where you told him to be seated, that you werenâtâ sad to notice and see that he wasnât fucking there yet.
his eyes switched to the massive screen in the middle of the stadium as they all barreled down the steps to get to the very bottom, gaze dead locked on your cheer teamâs introduction promotional video, playing loudly throughout the arenaâs speakers and showcasing each of the cheerleaders in their own little spotlightâ sparkling uniforms that bedazzled against the lighting, swaying and rustling their pompomâs with smiles on their faces, your gorgeous smiling face popping up amidst the different scenes that made megumiâs grumpy heart swell up in his chest.
the feeling was brief though as it plummeted once the screen switched to your team in real time, already in your corresponding formations and commencing the pregame performance.
âthe pride of the nfl...â
âi see them i see them they're right there!â yuji sputtered, pointing up ahead just as they reached the bottom to security, all of them fumbling around for their identification cards and tickets to get through to the vip section, megumi digging in his pockets as his head shot up in the direction yuji was signaling at to spot you.
âyour very own... heartline cheerleaders!â
the crowd fucking thundered into a fit of roars and claps just as the men got the clear and stumbled in, satoru quickly leading them to their seats and barely dropping their shit down before spinning back around, satoru and yuji hooting and hollering the loudest megumi thought heâd ever heard in his life... and yet hardly noticing at allâ pushing his dark shades up to rest over his head and get a better look at you.
you were unbelievably pretty to him.
dancing underneath the stadium hues, a series of moves that he didnât expect at all from a cheerleading team as you shimmied in time to the music, the smile on your face soâ brilliant and utterly impossible for him to miss even if he tried, you energetically changing formations when needed and following the pace of the group without so much as a trip or stumble.
and megumi thought then how utterly silly you were for ever thinking you wouldnât be a good fit for the team, when it looked like you were right where you were supposed to be all this time.
you and your snug uniform that twinkled with every turn you made, the rustling of your frilly pompoms that followed each pump and rotation of your arms, the cheeky little beaming smile you sent his way once you fleetingly realized he was there... it was all supposed to happen.
him with you. watching you do what you loved.
he could stand there for hours so long as it was for you.
âmegumi look it look it she's shaking her little hips!â satoru practically squealed, tossing a heavy arm over his shoulders to yank him into his side. âtake a picture! quick! this is a moment in history oh my god i bet youâre feeling rabid right now and in beastly heatââ
âgod please shut up.â
âwhat?!â satoru scoffed. âthere is no shame in feeling a little freaky for your woman while sheâs performing my son! accept your primal lovesick instinctââ
heat shot up megumiâs cheeks and he squirmed. âwhat the hell are you on about get off meââ
satoru fought through his writhing and brought him in even further, wringing his mouth uncomfortably close to his ear.
âi want three grandkids...â gojo whispered. âso get busy you little bratââ
megumi choked and shoved him away, his dad doubling over in a fit of snickers as he tipped his head back and laughed. âi'm kidding megs i'm kidding!â
âyouâre disgusting man quit itââ
âi want five grandkidsââ
âSTOP!ââ
throughout the game you mostly spent it on the sidelines closest to megumi, the corners of his lips quirked up into a small smile as he calmly watched you and your group do short dance routines each time the football team scored, you blowing him a fast cute kiss or a pretty grin any chance you could before you were pulled again to do another number, him sending you a little wave in return as he recorded you on his phone.
and to his surprise, halfway through the game you were given a shoutout while performing one of your many other routines, the massive jumbotron illuminated with a close up of you dancing in real time, your name in chunky pink cursive with the title of âsideline sweetheartâ as you smiled and gleamed, megumiâs chest fuzzy with a mix of surprise and pride at your achievement while the stadium announcer acknowledged you.
but what he also unmistakably noticed throughout your time on the field... was a certain football player who kept coming up to talk to you.
tall, lanky, with scruffy jet black hair and the darkest eyebags under his eyes that heâd ever seen on anyone.
at first he simply chose to brush it off, deeming it as you naturally being a social butterfly and you were just making friends... which is a good thing.
it's good.
but then he justâ kept coming back up to you.
making you laugh. pulling you to the sideline refreshment station so he could keep talking to you. patting you on the shoulder.
since when were you friends with a football player? Â
he thought that wasn't allowed...
megumi was disappointed in himself that something so simple and innocent as that, bothered him as much as it did, for you were absolutely more than allowed to make and have friends no matter what or who they were.
but the last time he told himself that, ino nearly kissed you in some random fucking hallway at a party.
the man was over it.
he knew how weird men could be when it came to getting what they wanted... and he knew how sweet and forgiving you were... and satoruâs endless annoying teasing about how you were already being targeted by another man wasnât helping him in the freaking slightest.
though soon enough after what felt like forever, you switched off with a different group of girls and were finally given a break, megumi standing from his seat to walk up and lean over the metal railing the second he noticed you jogging up to him, resting his elbows on the ledge.
âhi guumiii!â you gushed excitedly from down below, him chuckling under his breath as he watched you happily wave at him.
âhi pretty baby.â he leaned over a little more. âi like your uniform.â
âyeah?â you grinned, taking a few steps back to cutely spin in place and show him, your white shiny cowboy boots on you and the way your tits looked so snug and puffed up in your top doing embarrassing numbers on him. Â
âisnât it so cute? i never thought i'd ever get to actually wear the real thing and not one my best friend and i tried to knock off the internet.â
megumi laughed and beckoned you closer with a nudge of his head, you listening and skipping up to him.
âcan i give you something?â he pushed himself off a bit from the railing. âor should i wait until youâre dismissed?â
you tilted your head in confusion.
ânâ no i can take it baby but what do you mââ
your entire body slumped as soon as you saw him reach behind and grab the biggest most prettiest bouquet of flowers ever, holding it out over the railing for you to take.
they were tulips.
âholy shitâ gumi are you serious?â you asked in bashful astonishment, your cheeks quickly bubbling pink as you reached up and carefully took the bouquet from him, your awestruck eyes roaming over the lovely soft petals with a jutted bottom lip.
âthank you so much baby iââ you could barely even form a sentence from how much you were swooning over him and the beautiful tulips, your fingers gently grazing over the shiny baby pink wrapping as it gently glowed for you, head snapping up then to look at him. Â
âyou absolutely did not have to get me anything gumi iâ i swear just you being here is more than enough for me...â
your sincere worried little eyes tugged at his heart strings as you spoke on, and he immediately shook his head side to side, your kind selfless mind never once allowing you to just accept everything he gave you without you anxiously fretting over it that he didn't have to, no matter how many times he touched bases about it with you.
because he absolutely did. and he blamed your bum fucking ex-boyfriend for putting that idea into your head.
âdo you like them.â he murmured, and you frantically nodded.
âi love them!â a dazzling smile stretched across your lips, one heâd been waiting for since he bought them for you. âyouâre always so sweet to me gumi... thank you.â
he nodded with a rising blush to his cheeks at your compliment, expressionless as he reached down and softly cupped underneath your chin, gently lifting your face to look at him.
âyou work hard baby. and you deserve it.â his hand shook your head the tiniest bit in tender emphasis. âyou shouldnât keep forgetting something like that.â
you bit your bottom lip and smiled even bigger, unable to contain the string of giggles that escaped from your throat at his lovely praise, your ears guzzling down everything that he had to say as you clutched your tulips closer to your chest, the paper crunching underneath your grip as you did so.
your boyfriend never failed at making you feel so special... and you cherished it so incredibly much.
âwhy didnât you tell me about you being sideline sweetheart.â he spoke up softly, the move of him letting your face go and settling his sunglasses back over his eyes causing your legs tremble. âsâgood baby.â
the name was quite fitting for someone like you.
âno i know gumi! but i wanted to surprise youuu.â you grinned. âdid it work? it was hard keeping my big mouth shut for weeks oh my...â
âmhm.â he gave you a warm tiny closed lipped smile. âyou were very pretty from the jumbotron.â
your heart skipped a beat.
âyou think so..?â you tilted your head to the side and peered up at him, him watching as your hair softly fell over the sides of your face in the process. âbecause iâll have you know that i'm sweating in between my tits right now sir...â
he huffed out a low laugh, though the jump your words gave to his dick was pitifully concerning for him as this was the absolute worst time and place for him to get hard.
âcool down a little baby... are you able to come up here with me for a bit? i wanna get you something from the concession stand.â
you pouted at his kind offer, solemnly shaking your head no and wishing with everything you had that you could. Â
âi so would gumi but i'm not allowed.â you reached up and tenderly took his hand in yours, thumb caressing over his skin. âi have to stay out on the field or else yumi and hina will bite my head off... but right when the game is over come find me in the locker rooms okay? it should be soon anyways our team is freaking losingââ
ây/nnnnn!â a loud cooing voice echoed in the air then, yuji and satoru leaping through the row with their arms yet again stuffed full of food and even more merchandise from your team, the sight making you burst out laughing with a shimmering fond gleam in your eyes, everyone else in the vip section staring in utter perplexity at the odd scene before them.
âoh my sweetheart!â satoru funnily sniffled, dropping all of his shit down on his seat before spinning back around. âmy sideline sweetheart i should say! papa gojo is oh so very proud of you i cannot even begin to express how much i want to pay the entirety of your college tuition.â
you gasped. âsatoru no! we've talked about this silly man thank you so much but iââ
âand why not?!â he threw his arms out in exasperated emphasis. âthat shitâs like chum money to me and while your cutie patootie sweetness drops mr. megumi to his knees, i happen to have some self control now let me pay itââ
âdo you?â megumi grumbled, his gaze distastefully roaming over the piles of random merchandise his dad just purchased and locking on a particular booklet, pointing.
âwhat is that.â he squinted his eyes and leaned over for a better look. âsince when do you even read.â
âthe cheer teamâs calendar.â
megumi blinked.
âthe fuck you need a calendar for?â
satoru smirked.
âi got that for you my emo son... y/n is featured on page eight and thereâs a bikini section i saw in the table of contentsââ
megumi's eyes blew out of their fucking sockets and he snatched the calendar from the messy pile, tucking it under his arm.
âgimme that.â he mumbled, diverting his gaze away.
âehh? not so mad at me now are you hmm?â satoru dragged with wiggling brows, the whole ordeal throwing you into an endless fit of giggles that damn near made your stomach burst by how much it had started to ache, you carefully touching the corners of your eyes as you attempted to settle down, yet their bickering and your fucking face on satoruâs shirt was making it nearly impossible to.
âwhat? the calendar?â yuji spoke through a mouthful of popcorn, seemingly just tuning in before his eyes widened and his head snapped in your direction.
âohymygodââ he swallowed. âmy girlâs bikini feature? jesus christ y/n you have no idea how hard i tried not to cum in my pants back at the merch storeââ
âHAAHH!ââ you cackled, slapping a hand over your mouth as you doubled over in laughter again. âi can'tâ i canât blame you yuji her boobies looked so nice in every picture didnât they?!â
âevery single fucking one.â he wildly grinned, walking up to the railing and leaning forward, his upper body extending so far out that you worried heâd accidentally tumble over. âhow dare you not send me a leak i thought we were best friends for life.â
you giggled. âwe are! but we wanted to keep everything a surprise until today.â
your eyes flickered back over to megumi, you nearly snorting at the sight of him subtly trying to look through the calendar before yuji spoke up again.
âhey uh... how much time do you have left on your break?â yuji asked, your attention diverting back to him.
âi still have about a good twenty minutes i think?â you kindly smiled. âhow come?â
he pulled himself upright from the railing, his face weirdly pale now. âisâ is it okay if i pull you to the side for a little bit? i wanted to talk to you about something.â
your brows pinched a little, concern swimming through your head at his strange request, since yuji never really asked to seriously talk to you aboutâ well anything. Â
the last time you remembered him doing this, was when he and your best friend gave you a talk about how much megumi was off limits back when you were first crushing on him... and even then it was with your girl friend. never alone.
you quickly nodded, anxiety starting to prickle at your skin as you nudged your head off to the side.
âyes of course! come we can talk inside the tunnel.â
he gave a stiff nod and started making his way out of the section to meet you, you briefly looking over your shoulder.
âiâll be back gumi!â you called out, him lifting his head up from the calendar at your voice.
and just when you expected him to at least look a little puzzled and question where you were going with yuji... he didnât. instead sending you off with a small smile and singular wave.
you pursed your lips, turning back around and proceeding to lead yuji over to the tunnel, deep in your thoughts until you reached your destination.
âyou okay?â you asked softly, uneasy eyes studying over yujiâs sick appearance and tense body language as he leaned up against the wall, arms crossing over his chest.
âyeah! yeah i'm okay.â he weakly smiled, and you frowned.
âyuji whatâs wrong.â you pressed a little firmer, stepping closer. âyou look so scared i donât think i've ever seen you like this.â
his breathing was unsteady as it flowed through his nostrils, him slowly shaking his head side to sideâ a close-lipped smile growing on his face as he looked directly at you.
âiâm gonna ask her to marry me.â
...
âwhat?â
holy shit.
a hand slapped over your mouth and you let out a breath of disbelief, your eyes already blurring over as you tried your hardest to blink and clear your vision.
holy fucking shitâ
âyuji are you serious..?â you whispered, a muffled hiccup escaping you, the fat tears you attempted to keep at bay rolling over your cheeks regardless. âplease tell me youâre seriousââ
âi am!â he chuckled boyishly, pushing himself off the wall then to wrap you in a warm hug. âdonât cry y/n...â
âsâ sorry iâm soâ hic!â i'm sorryââ
you couldn't even talk, your strained trembling whispers making yujiâs chest ache as he pouted and plopped his chin over the top of your head, laughing softly and rubbing a comforting hand up and down your back.
âiâve been planning it for a few months now.â he gently explained. âi have the ring and everything... i wanna do it after the world series game.â
you sobbed even harder.
that was next week.
âi love her a whole lot... you know better than anybody else that i do. i actually wanted to marry her the night we met but that's not very socially acceptable is it?â
through yujiâs chuckling you pulled back, laughing yourself as you tried your best to wipe your tears away, sniffling and looking up at him with a wobbling smile.
âapparently.â you sniffed, mumbling lowly. âwouldâve been fine with me.â
and he grinned, planting a hand on your head and giving it a little rub.
âi donât doubt it.â he murmured. âi owe her giving me a chance in the first place to you... and i know more than anyone else how much she absolutely cares about you and adores you as her best friend.â
he let his arm fall back over his side.
âso thank you for letting me have her.â
a new flood of tears washed over you then and you sobbed, yuji laughing out loud at your reaction and wrapping you up again in an embrace, this time tighter, swaying you side to side as he stood there not saying anything else, knowing that news like this was something extremely pivotal and dealt best with a comforting silence that allowed you to ride the wave and process.
âiâve beenâ i've been dreaming and wishing fâfor you guys to get married for so loongg!â you wailed, your cries muffled into his chest.
nearly five fucking years you had spent wishing on stars for it, because you knew more than anyone else just how much your best friend and yuji unconditionally loved one another.
from the moment they met under the neon rays of that random party with yuji adorably stumbling over his words, to spontaneously making it official without brake checking first simply because the feeling of it was so right for them⊠it was so agonizingly obvious to you that they were meant to find each other, to fall in love, to be happy together, to grow old together. and your best friend deserved every bit of that blissful life with someone who treasured her just as deeply as you did.
âif we win or lose the world series i really donât give a fuck.â he spoke up. âbecause regardless i'm gonna get down on one knee and ask her. that's all i care about.â
you nodded against him and pulled away, shakily wiping away the last of your tears.
âiâll help out if you need it okay?â you emphasized. âwhatever it is ifâ if you need me to get her to a specific spot orâ kidnap her or anything i will do it no fucks given.â
his shoulders dropped in relief. âthank god because i was running into a pickle with megumi about the planning and he just kept abusing me.â
your jaw hung and you giggled.
âno he didnât!ââ
âdid you tell her already.â
your eyes quickly diverted to the familiar lovely sound of your boyfriendâs voice, and somehow the sight of him standing there at the tunnel entrance made you fucking sob all over again.
âoh guummiii!â you dramatically wailed, flinging yourself on him and wrapping your arms around his neck, him quick to catch you and bring you in tight with a chuckle. Â
âyouâ you knew?!â
he softly smiled down at you.
âi did.â he murmured, letting the side of his warm cheek fall against yours. ânâgojo knows too.â
you hiccupped and cried and whined into his arms then, the abundance of pure love and bittersweetness hitting you in all unfathomable types of degrees as your brain struggled to accept that this was real, that your best friend was in fact soon to be a bride in the next coming week and your lives would be permanently altered.
now i know you've posted around 4 posts about his abs, but... think you could do a nobara's sister reader x megumi, and like when yuji and nobara find out, nobara's all over megumi's ass going into overprotective sister mode???? and still somehow add his abss??
pretty please??
a/n : 5TH POST YAY
cw : aged up to the big '26 đ„ uh yujis naked for some reason
the onsen steam was thick.
youâd waited exactly seven minutes after yujiâs dramatic exit; his barefoot slap-slap-slap echoing down the hall while he whined about how megumi âdefinitely has travel-size shampoo, heâs prepared like that, right?!â followed by the muffled thwack! of megumiâs slipper making direct contact with his skull.
coast clear.
nobara was still in the womenâs section, muttering loud enough to be heard through the bamboo divider.
âwho even uses bar soap in the big 2026? this is basically sandpaper for your pores! iâm filing a complaintââ
perfect.
you hike your trousers up a little so they donât drag in the puddles, then slip through the noren curtain.
the menâs side is quieter. darker wood. heavier steam.
and there he is.
megumiâs sitting on the smooth stone edge, legs dangling in the water, black hair plastered to his forehead and neck. droplets slide down his collarbone, then to his pecs, and thenâ oh!
you freeze mid-step. the steam had been doing you a favor until right this second.
every time he shifts to brace his palms behind him, the muscles in his abdomen flex and catch the low lantern light. wet. glistening. stupidly defined. like someone carved them with a very petty, very detailed grudge against anyone trying to stay sane.
your brain short-circuits long enough that megumi notices you before you remember how to blink.
he doesnât even look surprised. he just raises one dark eyebrow, water dripping from the ends of his lashes.
âi look like a pervert because of you,â you mutter, walking up to him.
megumi tilts his head, slow. amused in that quiet, dangerous way of his.
âwell⊠you are, arenât you?â
your mouth opens. closes. heat that has nothing to do with the onsen crawls up your neck.
before you can fire back something clever, his hand closes around your wrist â cool fingers, warm from the water â and he tugs.
you stumble forward with a muffled yelp. he doesnât let you fall.
instead he pulls you straight into the hot spring, clothes and all. water surges up around your thighs, then your waist, soaking your shirt in seconds so it clings like second skin.
ââgumiâ!â
âshhh.â he maneuvers you until your back is to his chest, arms caging you loosely. his heartbeat thumps steady against your shoulder blade. âyouâre loud.â
youâre about to argue that heâs the one who dragged a fully clothed person into an onsen like itâs normal, but then his chin hooks over your shoulder and everything gets⊠disgustingly romantic.
you can feel his abs flex behind you. sensing your thoughts, he takes your hand and puts it on his chest, then lower, and then even lower⊠right at the crime scene.
the fingers of your other hand twitch toward the hem of your drenched shirt. itâs sticking to you in all the wrong and right places. maybe if you just peel it up a littleâ
âoi! megumi! you really donât have extra shampoo?!â
yujiâs voice crashes through the doorway before his body does.
he takes one heroic step inside â completely naked, by the way â and immediately trips over his own abandoned geta.
splash!
you see yujiâs body, and immediately squeak and bury your face in megumiâs neck on pure reflex. yuji shrieks like heâs being murdered.
from the womenâs side nobaraâs voice slices through.
âwhat the hell was that?! yuji if you drowned iâm not fishing you outââ
megumi doesnât hesitate.
a familiar shadow slithers up from the water, quick and silent, and clamps over yujiâs mouth like a large, inky hand. the muffled scream turns cartoonish.
yuji flails, slips again, finally snatches a tiny hand towel the size of a dinner napkin and slaps it over his front while crab-walking backward.
right as nobara storms in â hair still pinned up, towel wrapped like a sarong over her clothes, murderous aura at full blast.
she ignores yujiâs naked tragedy entirely.
her eyes lock on you.
then megumi.
then you again â still trapped between his arms, shirt basically transparent, his abs pressed to your back like they personally offended her.
you two freeze like a deer caught in the headlights.
she inhales.
and screams.
âWHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!â
megumi sighs like heâs been expecting this exact moment since birth. you try to sink under the water and die. yuji, still gagged by divine dog shadow, just whimpers.
nobara marches forward, pointing one accusatory finger directly at megumiâs face.
âfushiguro megumi! you have exactly five seconds to explain why my baby sister is in the menâs onsen, in your arms, before i turn your stupid pretty face into cursed-energy confetti.â
megumi blinks slowly.
âuhh⊠she snuck in.â
âTHATâS WORSE!â
you finally find your voice.
âiâm not a baby! iâm literally older thanââ
âNOT THE POINT!â
nobara grabs a wooden bucket and brandishes it like a weapon.
megumi tightens his hold around you just enough that you feel the low rumble of his voice against your spine.
âshe wanted to see me.â
nobaraâs eye twitches.
âyou. me. outside. right now. weâre having a talk. with my hammer. and nails.â
can i please request smth like angst fluff where megumi x reader argue (as a boyfriend & girlfriend) and he accidentally brings her to tears. i really love you megumi writings youâre really talented!
iâm sorry
he doesnât mean to say it, he doesnât even mean it, it just kind of slipped out in the heat of the moment. megumi was never good with communication or arguments, his main motive was always winning.
you canât blame him, growing up with no real parental figure makes it harder for megumi to open up, or even work through his emotions like others do.
but nevertheless his words broke something in you.
he knew he was wrong the second the words left his mouth, he wanted to take it all back the minute he saw shiny tears well in your eyes, when your lip wobbled ever so slightly. he wanted to apologise, truly he did but he just couldnât. he didnât know how.
your face crumpled as you realised he wasnât going to back down, expression cold as he watched fat tears roll down your cheeks. you wanted to cuss him out, scream at him for what he said but you bit your tongue and scurried off into the bathroom.
megumiâs jaw clenched, fists balling as the weight of what he said sunk in. thoughts circling his brain, mentally scolding himself for being so mean to you. he stood there for what felt like hours, body stiff, refusing to move.
finally he managed to walk over to the bathroom, body shaking as he stepped. a trembling knuckle came up to rasp at the door, pausing for a few seconds before doing so. your voice came back broken, âwhat?â
he had never heard this tone before, something between rage and a cry. your voice seemed horse, like your throat was dry. megumi didnât say anything, he didnât know what to say so instead he leaned his head abasing the door with a soft thud.
âi-i donât know why i said that.â his voice was small, almost nervous as he spoke. he heard a sniffle, and shuffling from the other side of the door but no reply.
megumi slid down onto the floor, back now facing the door as he leaned against it. he already missed you, your warmth, your voice, you. he knows he canât take back what he said and he doesnât trust himself to apologise just yet so he does the only thing he can.
he waits.
he waits for you to calm down, for you to be okay speaking to him again, even if that takes hours, or even days.
megumi will wait, because he loves you.
the air is thick and awkward, your sniffles breaking the silence every few minutes. âd-did you m-mean it?â your voice was wobbly through, hiccups escaping you as your quiet voice cut through the tension.
megumi felt his heart sink, how could you ever think he meant it. his heart shatters all over again at the thought of you thinking down on yourself because of him. âi said before, i donât know why i said it. i didnât mean any of itâŠâ his voice trailed off, an apology stuck like a lump in his throat.
silence stretched over the two of you once again, he could hear your stuttering breaths from the bathroom, your little hiccups as you tried to calm yourself. he wanted to hold you, to tell you heâs sorry, to make it all disappear.
his stomach twisted into knots at the thought of your beautiful face stained with tears, eyes puffy, and mouth dry. the thought alone sent a pang through his chest.
megumi slowly rose from the floor, hand reaching up to press against the door as he leaned his head against it once again. softly, he spoke your nameâquiet, reservedâhe didnât wait for an answer before continuing.
âiâmâiâm an ass for what i said, alright? i donât deserve you, youâre so kind and patient and iâm just a mess and i fuck up i know but please donât be mad just let me see you and fuckâiâm sorry.â everything spilled out of him at once, every though, every praise dropped from his tongue in a rapid ramble.
his eyes were closed, a silent beg for you to talk to him. megumi heard the lock click, hope settling into him at the sound. you emerged from the bathroom, eyes red and puffy, cheeks stained with your tears. he wanted to scoop you up, tell you that heâll do anything to make it up to you.
instead, megumi dropped to his knees and embraced your legs. curling up against you as stray tears trailed down his cheeks. he was mumbling apologies into your legs as if he couldnât stop himself, face hidden from your view so you wouldnât see his vulnerable state.
you didnât talk to him yet, you werenât ready, he understood but he was overjoyed by the fact that you were ready to at least see him, to allow him to hold you. you gently sank down onto the floor, embracing your boyfriend as he shook against you.
you knew he didnât mean it, you knew he struggled with this type of stuff. you loved that he tried for you.
synopsis: he's the smartest in your entire year. he only got the maximum, maybe a 99 if the professor doesn't feel like giving anyone an 100/100. overall, nobody was better than him. but...you were close. and that stirred something.
â°â†itoshi sae â
at first, he doesn't care that you are near to him. it's insignificant. however, he knows. he watches closely, listens to people talk about how it's impossible to beat him, but "you just might";
you were only that: a mere classmate that would never reach his level. nothing special. but then, it became more. you started appearing in his mind daily. sae started to wonder how were you so close to him? how was it possible, it didn't seem like you were too smart outside school.
it's not like he feels threatenedâno, that would never be the case. itoshi sae never feels threatened. but he considers that he "has to be careful"...
consequently, he starts sitting next to you. observing. actually listening if you speakâeven if you don't speak to him directly;
months pass and he's convinced there's nothing wrong with the way he's acting. nothing wrong with the fact that he learned your entire schedule by heart or that he knew who all of your friends were and where you went with them. he convinced himself that it was just to make sure he understood the way you studied, so he could be better than you were.
but it was not like he cared, was it? you were just his classmate and he definitely didn't make sure to "warn" any person that showed romantic interest in you.
â°â†itoshi rin â
unlike his brother, rin would know instantly. the first time your grade was close to hisâeven if you got a 95 and he got an 100âhe let it slip. it was fine, 'accidents' happened. but the second time? he would know;
and you would know he knows. because he would become competitive. not only on grades, but on performance. he would fight on how fast he finishes the tests, how fast he answers. it was all or nothing with the younger itoshi;
god forbid you would outperform him onceâbecause he would get snappy, irritated and dig holes into you for the rest of the week;
with the way he acted, with how obvious he was with the fact that he was watching you, people would start to say he likes you. some would ship the two you, some would think he hates you and some would say he is obsessed with you.
in a way, they were all right and wrong at the same time...he hated you and the fact that you were almost as good as him so much that he became obsessed with not letting you be better. he learned everything about youâeverything. from where you study best to which subjects you struggle the most in to your favorite color and your childhood trauma. (no need to know where he found that from)
â°â†isagi yoichi â
isagi would love that. he would be geniunely fascinated with you, with the fact that you are almost as good as him. his ego would be challenged and from the first 95 you got, he knew he had to get you;
at first, he would stay respectful. maybe slightly overbearing with how intense he was looking at you, as if you were a puzzle he was trying to piece together;
until he would muster the courage to befriend you. he called it "courage" and the "curiousity to know more. but it was obsession, really. subtle, but it was there;
he would become your friend and you couldn't really see the true intention. he would study with you, spend free time with you, even introduce you in his actual friendgroup. but it would be all to find out more about you;
at any mention of a potential love interest, he just smiled and pretended to not be pissed off. but in the same week, said person would disappear from your life and he would just say "oh, what a shame".
in the quiet hours of the night, when the curses have been exorcised and the sorcerers are asleep... there is megumi, scribbling away quietly in his dorm. nobody knows this but when his mind gets too loud and his world is a little too much to bear, he takes solace in a canvas with paint covered brushes and fingertips.
it's his escape from his world, from the reality that his life is feeble, that death, while inevitable for every living being, is always around the corner for him; following him and the others like a shadow.
death doesn't scare him, not really, given his reality it was an ever looming truth, but in the rare moments it did he'd find himself putting his headphones on music playing loud enough to overpower his thoughts and fingers already picking up the brush, putting that first stroke on the canvas.
or when he simply needed an outlet, something that could hold his secrets without judgement, without pity. where he could just... be, without having to articulate.
he wouldn't say he was skilled at it, not really. all he did was paint what he felt or saw, anything that caused him to stop. he didn't even know when or how it started but it had somehow always been a part of him. he saw things most people couldn't, not curses per se but rather the world... it was different for him.
like this once when he saw two cats on the sidewalk everyday until the one day he noticed that only one of them remained, eyes filled with an emotion he knew too well. it wasn't surprising to him that an animal could feel such intensity of emotions but the urge to comfort the cat, somehow, overwhelmed him. he was sensitive in ways others couldn't be.
he got food and candy for it, feeding it every day since then... but that day, he remembers going back and quietly painting the same longing he witnessed in an array of monochromes. you can still see the mark his teardrop left on it, even though he had tried his best to hide it.
maybe it was his life that made him so sensitive, maybe it wasn't, who knows? megumi certainly didn't. it was just so natural for him to lock his door, pull out his sketchpad and spend hours like that, sketching everything yet nothing all at once.
he wouldn't even notice the time going by, so engrossed in whatever his mind had deemed meaningful enough to perceive. he wouldn't even notice when the late hours of the night would turn into early hours of the morning, or when the call of the cicadas would turn into chirping of the birds. he wouldn't notice.
he doesn't deliberately hide it though, its just that no one noticed, no one asked... and he never felt the need to bring it up either. no one asked, and he preferred it that way; everything he created was private anyway.
so contrary to people's belief, it isnt that megumi doesn't feel things... its that he feels them too deeply, too differently, too quietly. and that was precisely why he kept to himself because how can you make someone feel the same emotion as you, the same way as you?
with a canvas, a sketchpad or anything of the sorts really, its easy to share. they understand what most people don't, let him have his own little space, his own little cathartic corner without consequences.
so you will find megumi hovering over an easel or a sketchbook, with music playing loud in his ears, caring too much in his own silent way, scribbling away in the quiet hours of the night.
Yuuta is so sweet, so good, so so patient. Even when you're giving him the silent treatment, it wasn't even his faut, you were just bored and chose to test the limits of his patience. He still texts you even when you just leave him on read, he still sends you pictures and asks about your day. He thinks you need space so he leaves you for a day, checking up on you every few hours.
Eventually he couldn't stand it anymore, coming over to you with such calmness it almost irritates you instead. He'd have this soft smile but his eyebrows are slightly knitted. Talking in low hushes, deep velvety voice coming from his lips just for you. "Did i do something wrong?"
You can feel your heart pounding louder as Yuuta comes closer, it's just not fair. He's using his charm on you, he's shielding you close to him, utterly pinnning you towards the wall. "Tell me, please, sweetheart?"
You pouted, trying to look angry at him. He just keeps smiling, finally realizing what you're doing. "My heart, are you having fun?" and that's the breaking point for you, your cheeks are warm and your heart is pounding so hard, you pray he can't hear it.
His smile turns into a smirk, leaning down to kiss your fake pout away. Just know that afterwards he's teasing you endlessly.

ââ Isagi swears that you're just his best friend. You're his partner in crime, the one who understands him most, and his everythinâwait, that one might be too romantic...
The beat of a pop song bounces off semi-soundproof walls as lights flicker through an assortment of colors. Accompanying the music were two voices echoing up front, singing the words that appear on a big screen.
Some other voices scream along while Isagi quietly laughs with the others. His laughter gets lost in the chaos as his leg repeatedly bounced against the floor. Leaning further into the backrest of the sofa, the sound of cheers from his surrounding friends assaults his ears as his smile fadesâhis whole presence following suitâgetting swallowed by the miserably pleasant energy.
He blankly stares at his hands, one thumb nail flicking underneath the other.
He wonders what time it is before checking his dead phone, only to see that it, unfortunately, did not magically charge itself since he last checked a few seconds ago. Ignoring the way he's getting shoved further into the corner by his rowdy friends, he then wonders what his mom might be making for dinnerâa thought that was somehow more entertaining than whatever was currently going on. He smiles politely when he accepts the guy's half-hearted apology for bumping into him again, but wonders if now would be an appropriate time to excuse himself from this birthday celebration.
His friends like him, he knows that much, otherwise they wouldn't have invited him. But he also knows that invitation was only extended to him because the birthday boy wanted everyone on his football team there.
Isagi might not be the first person they'd pick to sing a duet with, or the first order they'd ask for when looking through the tablet menu, but he's cool enough to be the second.
And that was fine. He was fine with that. He only wants to go home early because he's tired, that's all.
That's all.
"Yoichi! Can you come with me real quick?" Isagi almost wants to laugh at how quickly he raised his headâall at the sound of your familiar voice. When your face comes into view, it begins to fill that empty pit that was gnawing at his heart with your blue, purple, green, and then red face, each color highlight your features in different ways.
You've always been there to his rescue. Just like that one sunny day at the park, where he started sobbing at nothing. He never explained why he was crying, couldn't even get any words out, but you pulled his tiny hand anyway as you ranâyour stubby legs carrying him to safetyâeven though you couldn't sense the incoming rain like he did.
"Why do you need to take Isagi with you?" One of the guys asked with a raised brow, handing you a tablet.
"Might as well grab the drinks if I'm gonna head over there anyway." You let out a huff of laughter like it was the most obvious course of action. "And I'm definitely not gonna carry like, seven of them on my own."
You tug on Isagi's hand like you did that eventual-rainy day years ago, and he mumbles a small apology to the people he squeezes past to join you. "Plus, if I'm going with anyone, why wouldn't it be Yoichi?"
You smile at him. A smile he's used to, but nonetheless makes him think that he really is okay with being second place to others.
He's first place to you, and that was more than enough.
"Oh. My. God. When are you guys just gonna admit that you're dating?" One of the guys groans in an exaggerated, fed-up tone, setting off a chain of laughter from the rest of the group.
The discomfort returns, but in a different form. One that he's experienced time and time again, with different people making the same claimâthat a girl and guy can't just be close friends. He should be used to itâhe was used to itâyet, Isagi hopes that the lights stay at red a little longer to hide the flush in his cheeks, and blames the ringing of the mircophone's feedback for causing his mind to go blank.
"Never. Cause we're not dating." Isagi can practically hear your eyes roll, and he stifled a laugh while you continued to bark back counterarguments against the accusations with each step that you take towards the door.
Your annoyance only dies down when you slam the door behind the both of you, retrieving the warmth of your hand back to your side. "He's so annoying! Why can't he mind his own damn business?"
Isagi doesn't hold back his laughter anymore. It's louder now that he's in a barren hallway with just you and him to occupy it. "I wish I knew!"
He really did wish he knew why, and he wished they knew how valuable friendships between two people of opposite sexes could be.
Maybe then, you two wouldn't be bothered so much.
Isagi wished they could see the way you always show up to his games, sticking by him regardless of the outcome. He wishes he could film the petty arguments that occur in the middle of a convenient store aisle, where you two strongly debate if orange juice is better than apple, but leave with your stomachs hurting for all the giggling. If they were to hear his thoughts during practice, when he's wondering if your club meeting would end at the same time so you could walk home together, then they'd understand how precious of a friend you were to him.
His best friend.
A grumble that Isagi barely picks up escapes your mouth before you take long strides towards the end of the hallway without looking back, like you were certain Isagi would follow without a signal.
He does just that.
"Oh, sorry for randomly dragging you out by the way," you smile, slowing your steps to match his as he catches upâyour attitude doing a 180 from mere seconds ago. "The others wanted to order more sodas, but the tablet wouldn't work, so I offered to go tell a staff and get the drinks."
"It's fine. I needed a breather anyways," Isagi chuckles, and he meant it, because it was you. He thinks that out of all his friends, he could easily spend all of his time with you and never get burnt out from your company.
"Thought so. Do you need a charger by the way?" You ask, catching Isagi off guard.
"Charger? For what?"
"Your phone?" You drawled with raised eyebrows. "You said that you were low on battery earlier. I asked my friend and she let me borrow hers."
Isagi pauses as his thoughts become fuzzy from the growing heat on his face. It shouldn't be a big deal. You're a good person, someone who's always helping him, and this is just another instance of that. You notice his hesitance, prompting you to open another option for him. "Or, we could just leave if you want. I'll come with you."
"What?"
"What?" You shrug, as if asking him why he was even surprised by your offer.
"Won't that look weird? I mean, they're already accusing us of dating." He rubs the side of his neck, which felt too hot for his liking.
"So? People always do. What's the difference now?"
Difference? What was the difference?
He has no answer, so he comes up with a different excuse. "Well, it'd be kinda rude to leave now though, right? The party isn't over."
"It's fine. No one's gonna get upset if we decide to leave early." You don't pick up on the shift in topic, and instead scoff like you expected that type of concern from someone like Isagi. "And if they do, then at least we'll go down together?"
Together.Â
Yeah, you've always been together.
Isagi can't help but mirror the grin on your face. One that he hopes will continue to be his guiding light towards the future. His future, which he'd gladly share with you. The thought came to him without a sliver of doubt, and he froze in his steps just as quickly once he fully processed what his brain had instinctively decided.
"Yoichi?" You pause in the middle of the hallway alongside him, furrowing your eyebrows at the way he's standing like a deer in front of headlights. The only sound in the hall was the distant overlap of music from different rooms, and the rapid pounding of his heart in his ears. You stared at him in your usual school uniform, with a little sweat trickling down due to the midsummer heatâmessing with your hair and attire.
Isagi couldn't help but think that you looked like an angel, and that made him want to curl up into a hole of shame and embarrassment.
"Are you okay? Do you want us to leave or not?"
Isagi still thinks that two friends of the opposite gender can just be friends. Great friends, even.
Though, he realizes now that he's not quite a good example of that anymore.
Megumi was nonchalant. Calm. Composed. You, on the other hand, were loud and expressive. "Opposites attract," they said. It was cute. Your friends (and Gojo) watch as you yap about everything while Megumi listens quietly and attentively, muttering an "okay" and "mhm" every now and then. Even public displays of affection were scarce, so the mere holding of hands and pecks when you both think nobody is watching made Shoko, Yuji, and Gojo cheer in joy as if you both were a football game they were watching. It was expected from megumi, as the quiet one, to just be...chill.
Not behind closed doors. Never behind closed doors.
"Gumiiiii" You whine, trying the peel off the clingy and affectionate puppy boy on top of you. "Five more minutes," He said in between kisses, catching your lips in his again. "But you said that 30 minutes agooooo," You whine. Your lips form a pout as Megumi trails kisses to your cheek, jaw, and to your neck.
Your hands tangled in his spiky and dark hair. The sound of kisses and panting fill the room. A gasp leaves your lips when you felt Megumi suck on your neck's skin. "GUMI!!! It'll leave a mark," you whine, attempting to pry him away from you but failing miserably.
"Then we'll cover it up later," He says breathlessly before catching your lips with his again. Despite your reluctance, your eyes flutter shut and move your lips in sync with his. A enticing dance of teeth clashing, breathless sighs, and tongue. Megumi's hand stray from your cheeks to your hips, pulling you impossibly flushed to his body as if the distance is not closed enough to feel you entirely.
"I love you," Megumi whispers as he rests his forehead on yours, allowing you to finally breathe. A smile forms on your lips and you peer into his dark eyes. "I love you too, Megumi," You peck his nose and then his lips again, a pout forming on them. "What?" You laugh. "Give me a proper kiss, baby," Megumi pleads.
You laugh loudly, tipping your head back onto his pillows. "Come on, give me more," Megumi whispers inching his face to yours. "So clingy," you tease before crashing your lips onto his, wrapping your arms around his neck as he pulls you closer to him.
Maybe Gojo, Nobara, and Yuji can wait 5 more minutes. Right?
Extra:
"They're late," Yuji pouts, stretching his legs on the bench. "They promised they'll be here an hour ago," Nobara says, annoyed. "It's okay! More sweets for us!" Gojo replies, happily munching on another box of his kikufuku. "Yah! Gojo! Shouldn't you be worried about those two! They could have been kidnapped!" Nobara nags as she points at her teacher. "Oh they'll be fineeee," Gojo waves off. "Kikufuku, anyone?" He asks, offering one of his sweet treats.
Pairing: megumi fushiguro x neutral!reader
Synopsis: Megumi is totally obsessed with your thighs
Genre:Â fluff
a/n: possibly ooc. also!! although iâm super busy with school iâm down to take any sfw jjk requests!
Megumi is such a thighs guy.
After a long day, he always enjoys resting his head on your thighs, waiting for you to scratch his scalp. Your fingers easily moved through his spiky hair, a comforting touch that felt like heaven. It brought him a sense of relief, helping him relax in the moment.
You could be watching TV on the couch when Megumi randomly decides to settle his head on your lap. Without a word, you know to comb your fingers through his hair, giving your boyfriend the touch he craved.
Donât even get him started on when your nails were longer. It was intoxicating. You always knew exactly where to scratch, leaving him wishing for more. Whenever you'd stop, he'd let out a small, displeased huff before pressing a kiss against your thigh to ask for more.
When youâre out in public at a cafe or restaurant with Nobara and Yuji, Megumi would sit beside you, resting his hand on your thigh beneath the table. The whole time his fingers would absentmindedly trace patterns on your thigh. He just couldnât get enough of them.
Out of sheer boredom one afternoon, you decided to test Megumi's reaction by refusing to let him lie on your thighs as he normally did. Deprived of one of his favorite things, Megumi could only stare at you in stunned silence.
"Huh?" He blinked, looking at you with a confusion painted across his face. His heart practically sank when you rejected him like that.
"I told you. You're too heavy for me now," you replied nonchalantly, trying to not laugh and reveal that it was all a test.
Megumi frowned at your words, "but we do this every day? Did I do something wrong?"
"No," you shake your head. "I just don't want you lying on me," you say, trying not to look at him, knowing you'd give in if you did.
"Then what is it?" Gosh. He was just too sweet. Giving you such a sad tone, almost begging you to tell him what was wrong.
"Nothing, Gumiâ" you cut yourself off when you glance over at him briefly. He was adorable, sitting beside you on the couch, looking at you with such sad puppy eyes. He really did love lying on your thighs, and worse, you could never say no to him.
"Alrightttt fine, come here silly, you deserve it," you say, patting your lap with a gentle smile.
Instantly Megumi laid his head down. You wouldn't have to tell him twice.
