Nonbinary Refinery: Apprentice’s Clothes, Appearance, and Gender Affirming Choices
NB Apprentice Week: Day Two
I cannot draw, so here’s a little moodboard of sorts.
Aubrie tends to sway more toward ~ masculine ~ coded fashion, though it’s not a strict rule. When they first came back to life, their main fashion statement was stealing one of Asra’s shirts and pairing it with the easiest pair of pants to put on, honestly, but they slowly developed their own style.
I like to think that post-plague, without any memories of what they should look like, Aubrie found it much easier to just exist. They don’t bind all of the time, but they love how they look with a flat chest and will bind if given the opportunity (read: if they’re not stuck working all day).
A lot of their fashion is inspired by Ann Demeulemeester - top right is the kind of thing they were wearing as a medic during the plague, and bottom centre is the inspiration for their day coat.
Middle left and right are the kind of thing Aubrie would wear for the Masquerade - skirts are a hard no for them, but fancy pant-suits with gowns attached are perfect. (and while skirts are a no, sparkles and diamonds are a resounding yes, because they have taste)
They also love rings and have an ever rotating selection on their hands at any given time, except for the one they never take off. It’s gold, with little engravings of stars and constellations, and it is the very first memory they recover from their pre-plague life. Asra had gifted it to them for their birthday, the first birthday they knew him, and that memory resurfaces one day when they’re fiddling absently with it instead of paying attention to the courtiers at the palace.
