Rosamund hesitated. It was, she had to admit, the first time she had ever been given a wish, so she wasn't an expert with this sort of thing, but she felt that this was not part of the typical script. "Sorry," she said. "Is that not allowed?"
The fairy grimaced. When it spoke, its voice came out pained and stressed. "Y-y-y-e-e-e-no," it sighed at last, dragonfly wings sagging. "No, technically no, it's not not allowed, but-" It suddenly brightened. "How about gold? Can't go wrong with gold. Gold's a good wish."
Rosamund frowned. This was really not going the way she expected at all. "Excuse me-"
"Beauty, that's a good one too, beauty's always popular," it went on. "And if there's a ball nearby tonight I can probably-"
"Excuse me!"
The wand was twiddled in chitinous fingers. "Right," the fairy said, sounding scolded. "Sorry, it's just..." Its voice trailed off.
Her grandmother's clock chimed midnight from the mantelpiece.
Then - "I'm sorry," it said, not daring to look up, "I know it's not fair, but - you know what I am. You know what we do to wishes. If you wished for wealth I'd have to turn your hair into silver, so you’d have to tear every strand out of your head before you could spend it. We can't help it. It's what we do. The cost of a wish is that you get what you want, but you don't get it the easy way.
"So if you wish for a child, it'll be - strange. Twisted, somehow. Made of pine or marzipan or have the head of a hedgehog. That's the cost of a wish-child; you'll get the child you wished for, but it'll never be - right."
Rosamund waited to see if there was anything else. She felt a sting to her pride when she realized there wasn't. "Is that all?" she said. "I wouldn't care what I got-"
"You all say that," the fairy said. "You all say you wouldn't care what you got. You all say it, and you really believe it, until the neighbours sneer at you and your hedgehog child for too long, or your back aches because your thumb-high child can't help you in the fields, or your pine child kicks and bites and won't obey, and then you think, 'This isn't the way it was supposed to be,' and then..."
The fairy stopped and looked into Rosamund’s eyes. It was a beautiful thing, all glittering carapace and iridescent wings, but just for an instant it looked terribly, terribly old.
"I'm sorry," it said. "But I'm tired of making unloved children."
That hit my hurt like a freight train, what an amazing perspective
Of course now I want Rosamund, realizing that there are already children out in the world ready tk be loved, to go out on a quest to find them and makes the fairy come along with her as a guide by refusing to change her wish unless they help her find them all. And then at the end, after she has gathered all her wonderful and unique and, yes, strange children, she wishes for a big house they can all live in
And the fae grants it with a twist - they may all live there but the fae will live alongside them and the house will always be little strange with expanding rooms and extra seats at the table for uninvited guests who almost always become one of Rosamund's children too
academic dishonesty is not something you can spin as moral lol i do not want to share a career field let alone a social sphere with a bunch of chatgpt using ass bitches
I will never not love Lizzie and Joel’s dynamic in the Life Series she has tried to kill him so many times it’s not even a surprise anymore and he forgives her every single time. Joel refuses to even agree to let someone else kill Lizzie because he knows she’ll watch his video and find out and then he’ll be kicked to the couch with the dog. The biggest argument between the family was about how Joel kept giving Lizzie diamonds for no reason and Gem wanted him to stop being hopelessly in love for two seconds so he’d stop giving resources to his #1 attacker. Joel wasted half an episode because he wanted to run at Lizzie in slow motion like a rom com.
One time Lizzie THOUGHT Joel killed her in MCC and she yelled at him through the wall that she wanted a divorce. Joel realized he had multiple men obsessed with him on Hermitcraft so he built a statue dedicated to his beautiful fish goddess wife. They were a part of a roleplay server where their characters didn’t know each other and immediately had a wedding so their characters would be canonically married as well. Lizzie made the wedding an entire arc of the musical.
No one is doing it like them and they shouldn’t even try

Everyone knew Jaeyoon as the biggest flirt on campus. He always had a wink or a cheeky smile ready to send to any poor, helpless soul who caught his eye. That’s why you had turned him down the first three times he asked you out, convinced he was just playing with you.
That couldn’t have been further from the truth.
Because while Jaeyoon may be flirty and confident on the outside, underneath it all he’s just a squishy marshmallow who desperately craves love and attention. Two things which you are more than happy to supply him with.
You woke up unfairly early on a Thursday you were supposed to have the day off. Classes cancelled because of a power outage on campus or something, you didn’t really care. As soon as you got the message from Juho last night about it you turned off your wake-up alarm and played video games until three in the morning. Like a responsible adult, obviously.
Now though, you were wide awake before your alarm even would have been due to go off, but also ridiculously tired. There was a headache building behind your eyes as you rubbed them frustratedly. Usually, your solution to this would be a cup of strong coffee or a glass of ice-cold water and a run around the park. Today was different though, you desperately wanted to go back to sleep.
And there was one thing that you knew would get you there.
Whatever higher powers were out there really had you in their good books for whatever reason, as you traipsed down a flight of stairs in your pyjamas before six-thirty in the morning you didn’t meet a single soul. Not even that one PhD student who Jaeyoon told you often wandered the corridors at ass o clock in the morning mumbling about authors under his breath. And with that thought finishing it’s round in your mind you arrived at the door you had been making a beeline for.
F9. Jaeyoon’s dorm.
You didn’t need to knock or call, knowing that the spare key was hidden in the back of the funky little gnome who sat on top of Jaeyoon’s doorframe. You unlocked it quickly before tucking the key back into Dawon’s back and letting yourself in. It was dark inside the hallway and you shivered a little with the chill. Jaeyoon was really warm all the time and so always had the AC on. You hated it, but braced your arms against your chest as you shuffled the seven steps to the bedroom door.
Pushing lightly against it you snuck inside, trying not to make any noise. All you needed to fall back asleep was to be next to Jaeyoon. There was something about the comforting heat and aura he radiated that made it so easy to relax and fall into blissful nothingness. Your boyfriend was facing away from the door, blanket only covering his legs as his toned upper half was out for anyone to see. Jaeyoon was proud of his body, and you certainly couldn’t blame him.
Genty you lifted the duvet and crawled underneath it, letting the warm material fall around your shoulders as you snuggled into it. The room smelled like Jaeyoon. No, it wasn’t weird. You shut your eyes and let yourself thankfully fall back to sleep to the comforting sound of Jaeyoon’s steady breathing next to you.
When you woke up, you were warm. Not in a bad way, but not entirely comfortable either. As you went to throw your blanket off however you came into contact with something that was definitely not what you expected. Eyes shooting open you came face-to-face with your boyfriend, arm thrown over your waist and watching you with a soft expression. He smiled brightly when he saw you looking at him, dimple making an appearance as his curly hair falling over his eyes.
“Morning baby.”
He smiled even wider when you whined at the pet name. It wasn’t that you didn’t like it, but it just made you feel gooey inside. Jaeyoon knew this and exploited it at any opportunity. Like right now, you could sense his energy was mischevious and you almost regretted coming to him. Almost. You couldn’t really feel too regretful when your headache was gone and you felt well-rested.
“When did you get here?”
“I don’t know, like half six.”
Humming to himself he nodded, curls bouncing once before he finally lay back down, pulling your head onto his chest. His pecs were firm but squishy, the perfect pillows. You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help the smile that broke across your face as you snuggled in closer to your boyfriend. Sometimes you wished you could go back in time and tell past you that Jaeyoon was an angel and to say yes when he asked you out the first time. But then again, you were satisfied that everything worked out for the better anyway.
“Whatcha thinking about?”
“You.”
He giggled, chest shaking your head as it burst out of him like sunlight through the clouds after a storm - bright and warm. You blew a raspberry against his chest which only made him laugh harder, before he reached his hands down to your waist and tickled you lightly. That made you jump, being very sensitive, until you somehow ended up nose-to-nose with his smile and lying completely on top of him.
You wanted to scold him for taking advantage of your weak spots or tease him about how long his hair was getting. But all those thoughts left your mind as he leaned up slightly and pressed his lips to yours. Immediately you sagged against him, letting him lead and set the pace. Jaeyoon was a great kisser. Without competition, the best you ever had and that’s not even being biased. There was just something in the way his lips felt pressed against yours that made time slow to a halt and all your worries fade away.
Hours could have passed while you were kissing and you wouldn’t have noticed, so content with the soft, wetness of his mouth moving in tandem with yours. You almost pitied the people who never got to experience this, but then again, you were more than a little proud that Jaeyoon was only yours to kiss now. And hopefully always.
Jaeyoon pulled away, breaking the kiss and laughing at your pout and whine. He peppered kisses across your cheeks and forehead instead, hands laying gently on your sides, not ticklish just holding you. Like you were precious, and he never wanted to let you go. Maybe you wanted that.
“Don’t you have class today?”
“Nope, cancelled.”
You were trying to reach your lips to his but he was holding you back. With a strain you managed to press a light kiss to the tip of his nose which made him giggle again. You put on your puppy eyes and begged, wiggling a little to make yourself seem cuter. You hated acting cute, but if it meant you got more kisses then you would deal with it. He just grinned, shaking his head before rolling over so you two were on your sides facing one another.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“So are you, for not kissing me right now.”
In place of words Jaeyoon leaned in and once more connected your lips together. You would have cheered in victory but you were too caught up in the feeling of kissing him. There was no way you would ever get tired of this.

It’s finally finished. This piece is quite possibly my favourite thing I have ever written. It took me so long to bring this final chapter out because I kept changing things because it wasn’t the way I wanted the story to go. I didn’t want angst or drawn-out pining I just wanted a happy ending to make your heart flutter. I hope I was able to bring it to you. Please please leave me feedback if you read and enjoyed! Comments and messages validate an authors work and make us more inclined to want to write even more!!
Thank you to everyone who has supported this fic, and especially to the anon who sent me the prompt in the first place.
