thinking about redeemed villains who can't cope with how much suffering they caused in their past.
redeemed villains who only allow themselves the bare minimum for survival- plain gruel, a blanket when they sleep on the floor, tattered old clothes- because they don't feel like they deserve anything nicer.
redeemed villains who lie awake at night with every horrible thing they've ever done running through their mind.
redeemed villains who take dangerous risks on behalf of the heroes because they don't feel like they deserve to live.
Personal headcannon: snape survives; he gives testimony in court to clear his name, put several death eaters in jail, blah blah. Despite that, he's still not trusted by some, so he retires from teaching. You convince him to start a business based on a little hobby of his thats he's had for years: homemade beauty products. Obviously a potions master would have his own garden. Obviously, he would be preserving/using those ingredients in many different ways. The students of hogwarts are excited to hear of a new shop opening in hogsmeade, then they're shocked to discover, its owned by snape! Even more shocked to find the store is filled with all kinds of homemade products, that smell good and work!
I imagine it's a charming little shop.
The store front has old fashioned windows at either side of the shiny black door, a bell above it that dings pleasantly every time someone enters. Gold lettering on the windows displays the name of the store and the window dressing is perfectly set out and eye catching, with perfume bottles, creams, make up and nail polishes displayed beautifully on an old black dressing table he took from Spinner's End. It used to be his mothers and he likes the idea that it's getting some use again. There are candles floating around the display, twinkling delicately to illuminate the gorgeous packaging the products are sold in; crystal bottles, glass tubs and wooden boxes, all tied with a thin black silky bow.
When you enter, the overwhelmingly pleasant smell hits you immediately, leaving you wishing you could take it with you. There's music playing softly in the background and the crackle of a fire can be heard from the back room.
There are products for everything you could imagine and more, and make-up in every shade imaginable. If they don't have it, they'll make it for you.
It's so enchanting you feel you never want to leave, and then Snape emerges, taking his spot behind the counter looking as menacing and cold as ever, and you realise - he did this. He made this tiny abandoned store into a captivating place selling delightful products that have been so thoughtfully made you imagined there would be an entire team behind each one.
But he did it all.
'Can I help you?' His voice as low a rumble as ever, but there's a lightness to it now. You notice the tips of his fingers are stained with bright pinks and blues; he's been working on something in the back. HIs hair is pulled back into a messy bun, and his shoulders are relaxed.
He's happy here, working in peace, at his own pace, on something he enjoys.

We love shipping in this house. π Reblog if it's okay for partners to ask for a pre-established ship with your muse(s)!

( reposted from my roleplay blog. )
Hello! I came across your blog recently, and all I've done is go through it because your hc's are so well-written and thought out. There was this one post I saw a while back on tumblr and it immediately made me think THATS SNEEP!! It's about struggles with verbal affection. The other part of the post talked about how kids on the spectrum have different ways of showing affection, and as someone who works in education, I really do think that its true. I would love to hear what you think!
I. ADORE. THIS. ππ
Like you have no idea. First of all this is super cute in itself but this is EXACTLY the type of mechanism that could benefit Severus and bypass his communication struggles. He has A LOT of feelings, but a lifetime of hardships silencing him (alongside his potential autism and personality) and I'm sure he might be a bit frustrated if his partner tells him they sometimes doubt his feelings for them.
Because he loves them. He truly does. He's extremely loyal and devoted.
Not being able to convey it would be super frustrating for him. Like he'd know he's partly to blame but he could also deflect and accuse them of not trusting him.
But this, would be the best idea. I'm sure he'd start doing it all the time too. Three taps in passing. Three taps on their desk. Three clinks against the porcelain when he gives them their tea mug. Three taps on their pillow as they read together in bed. Three taps against their belly as they're curled up in the dark. Three taps of his spoon against the table during breakfast while his eyes are still on the Morning Prophet. Three taps on their cheek as they're cupping each other's face.
He could even use it to say 'I love this part of you' in bed if he's too uncomfortable. Like three soft taps on the lips. Three taps on their thighs. Three taps on a mole.
Or to compliment a part of their outfit. Three taps on their little glass brooch as they're getting ready for a conference. So many words and emotions conveyed with a simple wordless gesture. It's perfect. He'd love it.
This is the ultimate headcanon for healthy post-war Snape.
I 300% back this.
Also thank you for your kind words about my posts, I am twirling my hair, so happy you enjoy my blog and thank you so much for sharing this with us. I'm howling.
Shavua Tov! May the coming week bring us peace & good health.
May this week be a better week than last.
